may evaluations talent: flexibility
"hello, i am trc entertainment's little mermaid, kim ahyoung."
the words that fall from her lips are recycled, pre-rehearsed over and over again in front of the mirror in an attempt to get them to sound less ridiculous, but no matter how many times she's said it, she still feels embarrassed standing in front of her coaches and referring to herself with the nickname her cousin had given her.
but it's a fitting one, speaking true to her life story of a voice she once could not use only to have it coerced into existence again by her fighting for what she wants. she may not be a singer, but she has a voice.
if only she could be using that now instead of what she's about to do.
she wasn't always flexible--she'd once been as rigid as her personality, too wound up, too stiff. but after taking up dance, her body had become fluid, had learned to bend and stretch to her heart's content--almost as if there wasn't a single bone in her body (she wasn't there yet, but she had hopes of getting there). it helped her when her voice was still quiet, unheard. at least her dancing spoke the stories she wished to tell.
so she showcased that skill now, a series of stretches that most could not achieve, leg stretching high above her head, limbs hyperextending, back arching in such a tight curve that it was a wonder she had a spine. the moves are all incoroporated into a fluid dance that distracts from the fact that she's even showcasing her flexibility, and ends with steady labored breaths and a quick bow.
she leaves the room with flushed cheeks, though whether its from the short workout she'd just performed or from the lingering feeling of embarrassment from indirectly calling herself a disney princess, he can't tell--she's just happy for this evaluation to be over, and to be moving on and growing.
