a/n: it's been raining a lot here, so i decided to incorporate that in this story. hope you enjoy!
rain hammered against the roof in a frantic, uneven rhythm. the sky churned with an angry grey as it the distant thunder rumbled like a warning. you flinched as the lighting shook the air not too far from campus. a frown tugged at your lips as you contemplated how, in this near-typhoon, you were going to make it home.
you stared out the window, lost in thought, ‘maybe if i use my jacket, i wont get too too wet…or maybe if i run fast enough, i could avoid the worst of it…’
the spikey-haired boy broke your train of thought you as he slung his bag hanging haphazardly over his shoulder, leaning against the doorframe in front of you.
your gaze flickered between him and the soaked window, “i don’t think i’m gonna make it in this rain, ‘gumi. i’ll just wait until it eases up a bit.
“you live in the direction of the convenience store, right?”
you tilted your head, nodding slowly, “yea, why?”
from behind him, megumi pulled an umbrella out of the side pocket of his bag, “let me walk you home then. i’m going in that direction today anyway.”
almost startled that he even offered to help, you fought the smile that was sneaking onto your face, “aww, ‘gumi! how sweet of you~” you teased, swinging your feet like a little kid.
a flush spread across his face as he looked away, “make up your mind already…are you coming or not?”
you sprung up, grabbing your bag immediately, “oh— yea, of course i’m coming. no way i’m sitting here stranded all afternoon.”
you made your way over to him, softening your voice, “thank you, really. i do appreciate it. i’ll get you something extra delicious from the convenience store to pay you back!”
megumi scoffed, turning his head away with a dismissive scoff, “just…lets go, okay?”
but the faint smile tugging at his lips betrayed his words as the two of you stepped out into the rain.
