OUTPUT WAS IMPORTANT . kitty had learned that the hard way . output was very , very important and keeping track of output , precisely and meticulously was how kitty kept people safe . from monsters . from her . and oh how she very much wanted to keep everyone safe today . a level seven portal was unheard of . it wasn't even something kitty could accurately imagine , wasn't something she had accounted for . she had to do more , to survive , to save the new town , but how much more ? and how much more was too much more ? the thoughts spin in kitty's head , twirling and colliding and shifting with each other as she tries desperately to calculate output , even amidst battle . because all it would take is a split second of loss of control . all it would take is an instant and then — celestine is the one to quite literally pull her out of her thoughts , a scream and a hand on her arm the only warning she gets before stone is falling in the place that she once was . kitty's heart is briefly in her throat at the sight , at how similar it is to a memory in the past , but she turns from the image quickly in favour of turning to celestine instead , swallowing dry and hard before she says , " holy shit . sorry , i was — " a beat then before kitty's brows furrow , before she's bringing both hands to celestine's biceps to look her over with brief concern . " are you okay , ce ?" kitty doesn't quite wait for an answer , her brows furrowed as she looks back up at the beast that caused all this , and swallows . it's between one blink and the next that she steels herself , looking back to celestine to try , " the usual ? i go up there and try to deal some damage and you cover me ?" kitty's grip around the handle of her hammer is tight as she adjusts it in her hand , as she gives celestine a slightly tight smile to try , " make sure i don't die ?"
it was almost like celestine can read kitty like a book, she knew her too well just from a little twitch of her eyebrow or the way she'd scrunch up her nose. she knew the deep sighs, even her in her most quietest.
perhaps...that's the pro of being her ex-girlfriend.
both had remained close after it, with celestine's care not withering away from the warrior, still calling her the nickname she's used to call her when they first met, lady thor. she knew the pulled her back out of her own thoughts, too, not just to drag her away from, imminent hurt that the monster has been trying to cause.
and yes...kitty can read her like a book, too.
"yeah, i'm..." she lets out an exhale of relief, staring at the other, making sure she was still alive and well, and they still have yet to get out of this, defeat the monster they have not faced before. "i'm good, i promise." she was nervous, always fearing for the day that she'd lose somebody close to her. perhaps that's the very thing that motivates her to make sure she's skillful enough, strong enough to save them, even if it costs her.
she shakes her head to herself to focus on the warrior's words.
"you can't ever fucking die, lady thor. or i'll snatch you from the other side and drag you back to life, okay?" she gives her a smile in attempt to lighten up the worry she's carrying. "i don't know if somebody's found it's weak spot...but we need to figure it out, then we go in deep. i'll make sure you don't deal with great damage."
"together, okay?"
⋆.° ᝰ.ᐟ a level seven. of all the levels. seriously, was the world just playing a cruel trick on all of them ? nevermind the fact that none of them have ever faced a monster and portal of this caliber. there’s something far more grotesque about these monsters. raven stays in their crouched position, waiting for an opportune moment to attack. eyes are locked on the monster as electricity starts to generate in their palms and travels to their fingers, raven is prepared to project a bolt of electricity from both hands. but it’s interrupted by the sound of a hushed yell and followed by the celestine grabbing them by the arm. “ whoa, hey ! ” the warrior nearly stumbles. “ you know how anytime someone gets a shock and they yell ‘ clear ! ’ so that no one gets shocked ? kinda the same logic here. i don’t wanna cause any friendly fire. but good lookin’ out, thanks. ” listen, they know celestine means well so there’s no use in getting upset at the warlock. “ and totally agree with you there, but umm … ” the thought is interrupted by the sound of debris crashing into the wall adjacent to them. “ we don’t have a lot of time so we might have to improvise. but any other ideas and suggestions won’t hurt so what’re you thinking ? ”
celestine stutters in front of raven, trying to find the words to explain herself as to why she did what she did. her instinct came first above her learning, and that shouldn't happen, especially when they get a threat from something they've not encountered before, not at least one of them had. at the point, celestine wishes her readings are saying just the right thing, but all they get are theories and how dangerous are they.
"i-i'm sorry, i...." she knew there's no use to deny. "for a second there i didn't think." it was a a reflex that came before thought. celestine paused for a second, figuring out what could be their potential play. being the only warlock of the ecclestons, she knew tactics, may have eavesdropped her siblings' conversations one time, along with them telling her how a call went. "i say....go for the weak spot, which is...something we need to figure out." she pauses for a moment. "wait, legs are always weak points for moments, right?" she starts. "then...we have to figure out the rest from there."
the portals — the calls to action, one could say by now they've become a dime a dozen, at least, over the last decade they've been dealing with a literal hell on earth situation. initially when the alarm blares, she thinks nothing of it other than a new fight. however, as she's getting ready, it becomes clear this won't be like any other day, level seven, it's repeated several times. enough that there's a subtle unease settling in her bones, it was the first of it's kind they'd be facing. no matter, hana doesn't let it deter her from the one clear goal — destroy the monsters before they have a chance to destroy them.
they were bigger, faster, certainly more capable than she would've given credit for. a piece of wreckage came hurtling in her direction, yet before she could create a shield using her abilities, someone pulls her away from it's path. eyes land on celestine, flicking back towards the monster. normally her play would've been just to go at it full force. but the other woman might've had a point, coming up with a plan could be their best bet. " okay ... well, they're not the only ones that hurl rubble around, except i can change them into actual weapons, and while it's distracted with that, go in for the attack. "
"fuck..." celestine doesn't know what's gotten into her at that very moment, her fear of the unknown taking over her for a moment, and that makes her let hana go. "i'm sorry, i just kicked in." she explains, turning to look at the warrior for a second and then the monster, ruining everything that's surrounding it. celestine tends to get too protective of people, regardless if she's close with them or not, at the end of the day, she just wants everyone to make out of it alive..
the healer warlock then listens carefully to hana's words. humming, nodding, then she responds. "i think it's good they get attacked on every open points, do it at the same time, maybe? hopefully we find a weak point then go for it." she knew this monster was aggressive, at least from what she's read. all of what she knows about this one were theories, and now it is where she puts it to the test.
ⵌ STARTER ft. roryosbourne.
status: open to everyone !
location: the dancing house.
she’s always been relentless on the battlefield. quick to think, quick to act. it never takes her much to summon the energy coursing through her veins and fight. yet now, in front of the largest portal she’s ever seen so far, she feels exhausted. they’ve been recharged twice already, and they can feel how their magic is running out again. it makes them feel frustrated, angry—they’ve never tired themself like this before, and they refuse to believe these creatures are stronger than them. it’s maybe this feeling that makes her sloppy while she runs around a monster twice her size, or maybe the need to prove herself right, but whatever it is, she fails to avoid the attack, and a sharp pain in her left side leaves her breathless. “ fucking hell . . . ” they exclaim quietly, and they lose their air once more at the sight of the same monster above them, fist in the air, ready to end them with a single blow.
rushing in to save the people close to celestine was hard to not do, with how she is basically surrounded by her warrior siblings, yet it was something she's learned over the past decade, knowing when to come in, how to know it was time to assist the warrior she works with, especially even after learning her craft, it still takes a toll on the healer warlock. and here she was in the corner, watching rory take a hit from the moment, wincing to herself as if she was the one who took the hit. "rory, look out!" she hated seeing the warrior like this, she's realized this many moons ago, and seeing it for another time doesn't lessen the feeling. she had to figure out how to position herself, needing the other to get to with before worst comes to worst.
starter with: everyone (capping at 3) location: the dancing house
if there is one thing celestine would never do, it's that she's never going to underestimate any calls she has ever gone to, yet at first, she thought, this was going to be any other day she gets on the field once more. she would not be directly involved into fights, yet she's been always a little close to them, always keeping her attention on the warrior she's with, making sure she would be by their side when they need her most.
portal level seven. her heart sank. it was as if she was stuck in her own thoughts, something she had worried about ever since she has started dedicating herself into this. she started recalling reading about how bad can this be, but she knew she can only imagine what they're going to face.
and there she was, braided locks still a bit of a mess as she rushed out and went to the dancing house, tucking a loose strand of her hair behind her ears whilst she kept watch, yet not missing a debris about to fly into the direction of the person crouching by her. "look out!" she says in a hushed voice, before thinking about it, grabbing them by their arm to avoid it. her eyes landed on the monster that's caused it. "...fuck, we need to think of a play for this..." she didn't want to mess it up, especially how the warrior she's with is going to need her in case shit hits the fan.
