the most overdue apology post ever 😩😩😩

evy, e, a, i love you all so much how have you not given up on my ass yet !!  seriously !! everyone else i can’t name cause that would take a billion years ihrnfwoed, i love you all so much !! i missed you so bad !!!

basically, i haven’t had a very good past few months, i’ve been super depressed :( i failed two courses my second year (in my defence, i took eleven very hard courses this year ok), and at my uni, that means you don’t get admitted to your third and fourth years. luckily, i get to take secondary tests, but i have to pass them, and it’s been so stressful for me that my uni career could be over if i don’t pass my august tests, i don’t know what the hell i’d even do. i also got put in a really abusive situation and it took a very long time for me to figure out that it was abuse and mentally i’m still not okay about it i guess. all in all, i found it so hard to do anything for the past few months.

i still have to keep prepping for these next exams but ugh i love you all tell me about your lives and your characters please !!!!!!!! anyone married ?????? any cute babies!! is barbie finally being treated with the love and respect she deserves???? i am lost !!

Flavia raised a brow — it wasn’t often that she heard people swear. Either the people she surrounded herself with were too mannered or the people didn’t dare to do it in front of her. “I think I met him briefly some years ago. He’s related to the Italians, is he not?” The Canadian family had interesting connections, Flavia had to admit. “It’s important to keep your head cool, I agree. I just haven’t perfected the talent yet. At least I have something to work on.”

She would have liked Flavia as her mother, Yasmin decided, despite how little she actually knew about the Crown Princess. There was something enchanting about the way she spoke. Something Yas wanted either to steal or learn. “Yeah. Italy and Portugal, but if you ask me for family trees I might start crying, so I have to give you a warning.” Yas realised she was slouching and straightened her posture immediately. “Oh, but you have so many other talents, I’m sure. Not having a cool head all the time isn’t a huge drawback.”

The younger woman’s humour separated her from her mother, which was a good thing. Being funny was a good way to break the ice. “I’m a mathematician, you and I just wouldn’t add up.” Jewel didn’t think it was a big deal, but she was about to finish up an online MS in applied mathematics. She had started it a little over a year ago so she could pass the time. “Get a little bit more creative, will you? Your mom treats me like the big, bad wolf, so I’d expect it to be… flashy?” She leaned against her hand. This kind of talk hardly bothered her, considering how dangerous her work could get, thanks to her mother. “I’m pretty sure it’s because my mom thought that pansexual meant that I had no standards.” She was glad that she wasn’t married into the Romanovs. “But that must be fun, not being forced to marry anyone. Has she tried to get you to date the right people?”

“We wouldn’t add up?” Yasmin repeated, scrunching up her nose, “I know you’re more clever than that.” It came as a surprise to her that Jewel was a mathematician, even though she knew nothing should have surprised her when it came to the magnate. If she had been anyone else, Yasmin might even have applauded her. There were so few women in their shared fields. But this was Jewel, so she carried on with their conversation without pausing to ask questions. She couldn’t help but laugh again at the insinuation poisoning Jewel with sushi wasn’t creative enough. She could see what the German princess saw in her. Maybe. But maybe that was a stretch. 

“I don’t do explosions, if that’s what you’re asking for. But I suppose I could get something a little more controversial. A nerve agent or something. That what you mean?” Yas leaned back, contemplating for the thousandth time whether she would have been excited or angry to have been paired with a stranger. “No. She’s too busy to try and force anything on me. Guess that’s better than her being overbearing.”

[ @yasmins-s ]  “I heard a rumour,” Zhenya started as she sat down at the table. The library had pleasantly surprised her with the large amount of books it held. The only problem was that it still wasn’t extensive enough, not for her needs at least. “That you’re studying a medical field.”

Yasmin had attempted, for awhile, anyway, to keep up with the lectures she was missing. She had stopped listening to them a few weeks ago, and did more sitting in the library with her headphones now than actually revising. She was surprised by Zhenya’s arrival at her table, taking out one of her earbuds. “Sorry, can you repeat — yeah,” she said cautiously, “I want to be an epidemiologist. If med school doesn’t kill me.”

“Adrian who does my hair, yes.” Barbie couldn’t blame her cousin for being surprised, the man wasn’t officially her assistant, more like a hands down does everything she asks man. “He’s not doing me, much to my dismay.” she couldn’t be surprised by Yasmin’s words, her male employees were all very attractive men and single — it was a must, if she wanted people to follow her all around the globe for that long she couldn’t have them tied to a piece of land because of a spouse. “I don’t know, we haven’t spoken about marriage yet.” she shrugged, buying in the joke. 

Barbie watched as Daniel shrugged, not bothering much about the ball. ‘Morango é bom mas eu prefiro baunilha.’ she heard the boy say and could only agree, he didn’t have an opinion on mango probably because she mostly gave him the flavors she liked and mango wasn’t one of them. “Call me a bad mother but I’m not strict with the measure of sweet he has, mostly so I can eat sweets with him so all three of us are getting ice cream.”

“Barbara,” Yasmin cooed, a few seconds from reaching out and grabbing Barbie’s face and turning her chin so she could see the look in Yas’ eyes, “Barbara, Barbara, Barbara. You have to make the first move! This is the twenty first century! You can hit on him! You can take him for a romantic walk on the beach! Women can propose! We’re feminists!” If Barbie was going to tease her, she was going to tease her back. “I’ll babysit Dani,” she offered, “We’ll watch a football game and eat lots of sorvete and it’ll be fine, go out with Adrian who does your hair. We all want that.”

Yasmin realised that she was gesticulating a little bit too wildly and dropped her hands back down to her sides, looking down at her cousin’s son. “Not even chocolate? Baunilha?? Dani, you have to try chocolate with strawberries. That was my favourite when I was your age. You’ll love it, I promise.” She looked back up at Barbie. “Not even chocolate? He needs to visit me. Often. I’ll introduce him to the good flavours.”

“Shame, I wouldn’t have minded teaching you a thing or two,” he replied with an easy-going wink. He halted for a second and looked at her for one long moment. “Olly,” he repeated. Olivier didn’t know what he thought of the nickname. It sounded so… American — or Canadian since this was Yasmin. “Make it strip poker and you just might have an opponent.” He wasn’t bad at it but he had never been interested in winning. It was always about wasting time with him and pushing his luck. He was too reckless to care about probability. 

It was a bold offer. She could respect that. She wasn’t sure if she did, but she could. Yasmin was not particularly interested in seeing what was under Olivier’s clothes, but she was always interested in winning. “Olly,” she volleyed back, confirming that yes, it was what she was going to call him, and no, he couldn’t do anything about it. “Let’s up the ante. When you lose all of your clothes, I get to take them with me and you have to streak across the lobby. I’d hate to make innocent people suffer by seeing your — seeing everything, but just stripping down? Not interesting enough.”

Jewel giggled. Yasmin was right about love, fuck what anyone else said about it. “My mother tried to get me to marry Evgeni and that was really, really bad.” Her marriage after wasn’t great either, but some marriages weren’t meant to be for love. Her mother didn’t do anything to her yet about her divorce with Darcy, but she would always remember how enraged the woman was after she broke the engagement. “Would you? We would need to have great chemistry for us to sleep in the same bed every night. I work a lot so sometimes my schedule doesn’t match up with villains.”

“I’m a scientist, I have great chemistry with everyone,” Yasmin quipped. It was a schoolyard retort but she was pleased with herself nonetheless. “I know what I’d do. I’d poison you. Get something good and delicious. Do you like fugu? Maybe some tetrodotoxin?” Anyone listening into their private conversation, including Kalla, if she had walked by, might have been startled, or horrified, by the ease at which Yas was discussing how she’d kill Jewel. But, she was teasing, and her tone made that obvious. More or less. “My mom’s never tried to make me marry anyone, so she does have that going for her.”

It was a bit strange of Lykke to choose now, of all times, to acknowledge her existence again, but Yasmin had long grown weary of being toyed with, and her good will towards the Dane wavered, in and out, in and out, dependant on how drunk Yas was and how attractive she found Lykke. “Yeah. A really long time.” She shook her head to get loose waves of hair out of her eyes. “I’m fine, I guess. Are you good? I heard some things.”

“Depends on who you ask, no?” Flavia asked, the corner of her lips tilting upwards. The Canadian prime minister had certain qualities that definitely were enviable, though she had more than enough flaws. “Which one of his traits is your favourite?”

“Oh, shit.” Swearing fell low on the list of things she would consider proper etiquette, especially considering she stood before the Crown Princess, the future Queen, and they were probably somehow related and Flavia was an adult adult, but being asked for specifics elicited a reaction she felt was natural. “I mean, he’s a lot more relaxed, in general. His family is crazy — you know how they are — but he’s just in the middle of it. Super calm. Mom’s a fighter. Have you met him before?”

She gaped at her for a brief second before she flashed her a bright smile. “I’m feeling benevolent today so you can simply kiss my ring and it’ll be alright.” If anything, the island had made her forget about titles. Court rules stopped applying when everyone was as important as the next person. “You’re bad influence, Yas, you do know that? Terrible, terrible influence.”

“Speaking of influences,” she was many things, but subtle did not count among those things, “Your girlfriend hates me because my mom was mean to her or something like that.” The conversation probably could have waited, Yasmin should have spared Kalla her gore in the first place, but she had made up her mind to mention it. “So I think you should use your good influence to convince her I’m not Kamilah Said, thanks. Then maybe I’ll kiss your ring.”

“You know.” Jewel leaned over to speak to Yasmin. “If we ever found a reason to marry each other, I would never place you as my primary beneficiary on my life insurance, nor would I consent to you getting a policy on me.” She chuckled. The thought of Yasmin killing her made her laugh because she had a long line of people waiting to do exactly that. “Honestly, I don’t even think we’d get that far. Your mom would probably have a lot to say about it…” She hummed. “My mom too…” @yasmins-s

“Yeah, well,” Yas tipped her head back to look at the sky, a bloom of blue with streaks of white clouds. It was too hot, especially considering winter still lingered elsewhere. “There are people whose mother’s are making them marry people they don’t want to marry, so, moral of the story, fuck what anyone else has to say about love.” She laughed back, contemplating, just for a moment, what her own mother might do if she married Jewel, for money or otherwise. Bleak. “Maybe I should just go full villain then, force you to sign off on everything before I smother you in your sleep, how’s that?”

Do you believe in love at first sight?

“I think love is too complicated a thing to just be… one thing? That doesn’t make sense. Whatever. Words aren’t my strong suit. I guess what I mean is that there are a lot of different kinds of love, right? So do I believe that a mother can fall in love with her baby the second she meets them for the first time, yeah, I do. Me, personally? Falling in love at first sight? No. But that just made it worse with my last relationship ending, that we spent so much time together and were together for so long and that’s how we fell in love. Shit, I’ve said way too much.”

“What are we, twelve?” She paused, but it wasn’t to think. She already knew what she was going to say. “That’s easy. Kill Jewel, for but marry her first so I can cash in on her life insurance policy. Kill Ani, but marry her first so I can become a real princess. And that leaves fucking Lykke, I guess.”

“You are, I can see into the future, two minutes and you would have been crying,” he assured her. He flashed a smile that more often than not earned him a blush from girls — or something along the lines. “I know, I’m one of the most thoughtful people on this island. You’re lucky to have met me.” His eyes followed her lithe form, a look of appreciation across his features. She wasn’t bad to look at and she seemed like a likable person. He wondered why there was a tiny voice in the back of his head warning him about her. “If I lose it’ll be because I took pity on you, remember that.” He was half-joking, he did a lot of stupid things to keep pretty blondes from getting upset. “You know how to play then?”

She didn’t know Olivier well, considering how well she knew Armani, but she knew him enough to roll her eyes and remember that she’d heard about him before. “A seven year old knows how to shoot a combo, Olly.” Yasmin decided she liked that nickname. It was suited for a child. “My mom’s actually not bad at it. My dad likes poker better. I like poker better, if you want to press your luck a little bit more.” She wasn’t particularly good at pool, despite her bravado saying otherwise, but she was excellent at poker. She’d probably lose if she took the cue stick. But he’d lose if she found a deck of cards and some makeshift chips. She preferred to win. If they were going to play something she might as well enjoy it.

God, the Crown Princess was pretty. Yasmin had always admired her from afar at state dinners and on magazine covers, but in person, right in front of her, Flavia could not be real. "I —” it was rare that she would be lost for words, but she was, “I think I got lucky. And I’m a lot like my dad as far as my personality, I think.”

I don’t even take care of my own calendar, Adrian does.” Barbie would probably be dead if it wasn’t for Adrian, he was supposed to be just her coiffeur but somewhere along the years he’s been working for her he became kind of an assistant. Her hair though was still his priority. “Ouch, old lady does hurt my feelings.” she dramatically put her right hand over her chest, where her heart is, as if in pain. It only took Yasmin to say sorvete for Daniel who had been quiet for the past seconds to look up excitedly. “Now all you gotta do is give him cookies to become his favourite person that’s not a Bragança or his godparent. There’s an ice cream shop like five minutes from here.”

“Wait, Adrian who does your hair, Adrian?” Yasmin’s father had always said she had such an ear and an eye for trouble. She could find a situation in anything. “What else does Adrian do, Barbie?” She arched a well manicured brow. “Is Adrian going to adopt Dani when you get married?” Was Barbie’s hair stylist gay? She couldn’t remember, but Yas was perfectly content to keep teasing her about a romance-that-wasn’t. “You are an old lady. But then again, guess I’m one too.” She sighed, also dramatically.

Yasmin looked down at Dani, unable to help her smile. “Sorvete is my favourite too. Morango e manga especially. Guess we’re not going to buy you a football, huh?” She looked back to her cousin. “I can’t believe I’m asking this, but would it be too much sugar? Ah. No. That’s ridiculous. Dani and I are getting ice cream with or without you.”
