5- Favourite AU for Wales
I think like a historical human AU where he is just a farmer or a sailor with a deep connection to the earth and lots of whimsy. He wears the same thread-bare cable knit sweater everywhere. The local kids follow him around to hear all the stories he comes up with and love him to bits. He's the guy that can pull the whole town together in an emergency but still manages to create oddly specific quarrels with certain neighbors. I think he could do this to some extent in Nationverse, but I would like to explore him being able to exist truly freely without being pulled by external demands.
7- Headcanon about England to make Canon
One of my favourite headcanons is that he is fluent in French (I mean, he would have to be, given his history), but he constantly denies it, even to complete strangers. He only speaks it when he is in an absolute crisis (Like in my Dunkirk fic) and will never acknowledge it after the fact.
8- America main and second ship
America is just a baby to me. Just a lil guy. I'm not big into shipping in the first place, but when it comes to America I still just kind of think of him as too much of a kid to be in a relationship.
10- UK Bros as a whole portrayal pet peeves
I think I just dislike when people take their feelings towards England too far in either direction. Like some people will make them all want to kill England due to their history. (To be clear, they are free to write that, I'm just not going to always read it). Or they will make Wales just completely chill with everything and love England unconditionally. To me there needs to be a balance, where yes there was real hurt there and they have done horrible things to each other, but also. In the life of a nation, there is almost no one who hasn't betrayed you, so unless you want to be completely alone forever you need to forgive certain people and restore that relationship if they have expressed regret and are willing to change. I like to think that in the modern day England has at least apologized for certain things and is trying, but can still be quite oblivious. I guess I just need some degree of nuance.
Honestly, in my mind he has never had the opportunity to look for romantic love. He hasn't had a lot of agency to make his own choices between being a nation and being under England's rule. I've considered shipping him with Argentina because... Patagonia, but that wouldn't really be a crack ship.
1- England nationverse vs. human characterisation
Yes. Nation England has a LOT of trauma. Sometimes I have to give human England trauma so that they even feel like the same character.
I don't want to spoil any of my WIPs so I can't get much into it.
Nation England is driven primarily by pride and a need to be in control, though he generally views these as for everyone's best interests. In the political structure of history this was a survival skill. He has some hobbies, but he very rarely gets to actually enjoy himself.
Human England is overall unbothered about appearances because he has no reason for anyone to care. He says what he thinks and he does what he wants. He has a better relationship with his family because he doesn't need to control them or look powerful. He plays with his kids. He gives hugs. He is supportive to the level of being annoying and embarrassing. He gets into fights with Francis on the community Facebook group. He's constantly trying to say witty things to get people to laugh. He's just, open where nation England is closed off.
