 Saavik sighed a little, not being able to help the frustration that leaked into her eyes at the the mere thought of trying to understand something new. Board games didn’t come easy to her unless it was chess. Back on Vulcan nobody really had time for any recreational activities and Saavik was only now getting used to playing games and going out to dinner with friends just for the fun of it. She had to admit that it was nice, but she still wasn’t used to it. She watches the younger boy with avid interest, trying to pick up the moves of the game just by watching him. 

“Okay now I get it, so we just keep moving our game pieces until we reach the end of the board…” That seemed simple enough, but there had to be some kind of a catch. A game could not be this easy to win. “I bet you loved playing this as a child!” She smiled over at him softly.

Pavel could see her frustration and his expression quickly softened into a mixture of understanding and regret. "Don't worry, most humans do not know how to play Chapayev either. It is a wery Russian game, generally only people from Russia or the places where the old earth empire 'USSR' stretched to usually play it. You will get the hang of it eventually, it is harder to explain than it is to play once you understand how it works!"

He resets the pieces for both of them, placing the pieces back at either end of the board. "My mother taught me, she is a mean player - no one in the town could beat her! I will let you start, unless you want me to go first instead?"

"Это пиздец..." Pavel murmured to himself, after all it was true and talking to himself might just be the only thing keeping him conscious right now. He hasn't looked down at his chest in a while, but his hands still feel hot and sticky, which means he's still losing blood. This had been a scientific away mission, but things had quickly gone to hell when it turned out that the Klingons had recently claimed this planet for the empire and weren't to pleased to see federation officers on 'their' soil. Their security detail had consisted of one officer, everyone else was otherwise unarmed, they hadn't stood a chance. He had called for backup, but there had been no response - possibly the Klingons were somehow blocking the signal and they weren't expected back for hours, so it was likely no one on the ship knew anything was wrong. He didn't have hours, he had minutes at best, but he couldn't think about that now, he had to keep talking. He'd left his channel open, maybe something would get through, maybe. Chekov kept staring up at the silent sky and quietly began to chant. "Звездолет построим сами, понеcëмся над планеты. понеcëмся над галактик, а потом вернёмся к маме." He's still murmuring into his communicator when he hears footsteps coming towards him, and he closes his eyes, expecting to hear a disruptor powering up to fire any second. Character A uses a mobility device, and while on using the elevator up to their apartment/class/office/etc., the elevator gets stuck and Character A is now in very close quarters with Character B until somebody can come get the two of them out.

Characters A and B both utilize American Sign Language, which comes in very handy when the two of them want to spill juicy gossip in the middle of a busy coffee shop. Character C is a barista who knows ASL and they’re secretly very invested in Character A and Character B’s drama.

Character A was born legally blind, and through a friend of a friend, Character A learns about Character B, who recently became blind/visually impaired. Though Character B is working with a Blind and Vision Rehabilitation Center, they feel like they really need a friend who they can talk to…maybe somebody like Character A.

“Babe, I’m going to have to cancel our date. I’m having a really bad chronic pain day and I honestly need to stay home. Could we possibly have a quiet date night at my place?” AU

Because of their missing limb(s), Character A has learned how to modify their own clothes – everything from gym clothes to clubbing outfits –so that they’re easier to wear. Character B is an amputee and they ask Character A for sewing lessons so that they can also learn how to modify their clothing.

See here.” He dragged a signal across the screen and enlarged it so she could see. “This is a waveform diagram of grawitational radiation which the science department picked up when we were passing the Zeta-12 system. Mr. Spock thinks it is just…background noise, but have you ever seen a pattern like this? I have run every cross check I can think of, but it does not match any known phenomenon I have ever heard of. I have tried running simulations, but by all accounts this should not work, an object that is able to create such large waves in space time whilst not emitting any other radiation it is…almost impossible!”

“No-” Azha replied immediately, glancing between the chart and the PADD that was settled in her lap. “Yeah, yeah. ‘Course he did.” She snorted, Scotty was giving her weird assignments (or making her crawl through vents because he couldn’t reach, but that was another story). She ran her finger along the screen and then pointed up at the screen before kneeling on the stool she had been sitting on, “Look at this here-” Azha flicked an image on her PADD up onto the screen beside the diagram, “We were experiencing interference with the matter-antimatter reactions, getting it to process through the crystals was a pain in the ass right around…” She jabbed her finger into the screen where one of the anomalies was highlighted, “Right around this point in time. If something was emitting those waves it would have messed with all of the systems. I’ve never seen anything like that- the data checks out, and I trust your calculations. What the hell are they hiding?”

"Of course, a gravitational wave this large would have caused space-time to warp around it, the system for aligning the crystals relies on everything occupying the same point in time - it would play havoc with any linear system!" He taps excitedly on the screen, looking for any other reports of unusual activity on the ship, quickly finding a list of seemingly unlinked events except for the fact that they all corresponded to exactly the same time. "This sort of disruption would only usually be caused by two supermassive black holes colliding, but our sensors would have picked up some other sign that they were there, not forgetting the upheaval it would cause to their system. If it's not organic and somebody has managed to harness this...we're looking at a weapon which could bring down entire fleets of starships, without any way of shielding from attack."
