(I know it looks bad but if I didn’t do it badly, I probably wouldn’t’ve done it at all. “Make it first, then make it better later” and all that jazz.)
Gods, she's so beautiful. I'm thrilled, I like the visual, the plot, and how the author interacts with the audience. Pierrot is such a sweetheart. I love him.
Sad to realize that Y/N is human. This means that Pierrot will see her die...
Please forgive any mistakes in characterization-this is just me sharing my daydreams.
Basically- my TFC persona really likes singing-and is actually really good at it. One of the reasons she works part time at a cafe is to save up for additional voice lessons. (And while she likes performing, the lessons are just for the sake of improvement, not for a career.)
In this au, it has been decided that since there’s a general desire in the circus for sona (or Y/N) to stay, she can be useful by singing. Considering the that the circus has gothic and scary themes, they usually have sona sing songs that align with that. Which actually works out really well since sona isn’t there by choice-the songs’ haunting melodies emphasized by the genuine emotions has.
She can’t run away either. Not only because she’s often either caged or under surveillance-but because they cut her Achilles tendon. She’s not really allowed to be alone with visitors either.
Now for the costume concept…I wanted to play with the parallels Y/N has with Columbina. Her color isn’t pink like the fools, but it’s magenta-a similar but noticeably different color. It’s also a color that’s closer to red than straight pink, not to compare the relationships, but just to signify Pierrot’s part in creating this situation. Besides the color, her concept is loosely a “caged songbird.” That’s why some images show her with fake wings-which are clipped. “Birds”and “angels” both have wings, but they are not the same. Just like y/n and Columbina. Similar yet far from being the same. And while she does have pink in her costume, that’s more because her role within the circus is more closer to the fools than the others. Though, ngl I’m not 100% sold on keeping the fake wings, but it’s kinda a nice touch aesthetically. (If you wanted to put your own sona in this au, but didn’t want magenta, you could probably use orange or something? Idk there’s not many options on the color wheel left. /j) Anyway, the circus name I gave my sona in this Au is Pulonia. This is mostly to keep in with the commedia dell’arte theme, so it’s a very loose association. According to my bit of research(Wikipedia), Pulonia is the wife of a peasant character name Sandrone. Sandrone is seen as the spokesperson for Ill-treated people-which I think ties nicely to Y/N since they’re willing to stand up for odd strangers. Also these characters first started out as puppets. Seems fitting.
Other thoughts I had about this au:
While I think Pierrot, as sweet and romantic as he is, would dislike the harming of Y/N. However, I also think he’d like the fact that y/n has to stay with him more. Also, it’s difficult for her to walk, let alone run away. I think it’d make him happy to carry y/n around, because it only further proves that they need him.
My persona also does tarot readings. She gives surprisingly good reading and it’s a service the circus can charge extra for, so it’s one of the few times she can interact with visitors. That being said, there’s usually about two fools standing by for surveillance.
I felt like having y/n entire body covered is unnecessary since they’re human. And I gave them a half mask, to distance them from the circus members. Though, to reduce potentially being recognized as a missing person, the veil is not allowed off in public.
My persona in this au doesn’t hate Pierrot…but her feelings are rather complicated. He remains sweet to her, particularly compared to some of the other circus members, so it’s hard to hold a grudge. Also she’s feels like if Pierrot stopped being interested in her, she’d end up dead or worse. Even if it’s not true by this point, if other members had grown at least somewhat found of her, she refrains from lashing out at Pierrot partly because she sees him as protection.
The doctor was the one to cut her tendons, of course. He regularly checks on her legs for both health and to make sure they’re still useless.
Bouts of rage or depression from my persona is uncommon but still happens. Each member has their own way of dealing with them. Most of them time though, sona is calm-if a touch despondent.
Pierrot took some of the novels and sketchbooks from y/n’s apartment so they aren’t bored/as depressed in captivity.
