Can we talk about Zim's emotional range as a character-- he's so interesting to watch cuz half the time it's like,, you gotta find out if hes putting on an act- and then AAA
I've been thinking about the Halloween ep when Zim comes to get Dib after Dib fucking left him for dead and he's just
Quiet
And that made me rethink how Zim expresses anger kinda-- cuz has he just been acting this whole time or did Dib leaving him for dead piss him off in a new way-- I'm barely awake and I'm on the bus rn so I can't really talk about this as much as I want to but-- God he's interesting... I want to study him
I feel like there is the Irken Military Propaganda anger. Nothing personal against the rest of the Universe, Irken’s are simply superior in every way and anything even slightly obstructing Zim or his mission is simply an afront to the natural way things should be!! Any thing saying he is in anyway flawed or not doing his job correctly is a lie!!
And then there is more personal anger. Betrayal from someone he gave a smidge of trust to and also anger at the fact he has to then save him. Also during the fight with the planet jackers “sure, why not?”. Anger focused against a single being for tossing Zim aside.
YESYESYESYESYES YOURE SO RIGHT AAAAAAA
I believe 80% of Zim's yelling and screaming is an act-- like he's loud in general as a person-- so having him being angry not contrasting with that makes it kind of part of his performance when he's trying to show off because he's just such a great invader and he's a product of the greatest Empire in the universe so he's gotta reflect that-
Ohhhh but then there's Zim's actual personality- who he is outside of the empire
And he's just so interesting-
He's an excellent manipulator and he's SO clever when he needs to be. He's not as stupid as he lets on- but he's also not as outwardly angry, calculated and evil as he tries to lead Dib to believe. He's emotional, he's smart, and I will never shut up about him omfg
I love this stupid bug SO MUCH

Zim being an intelligent and tech-savvy lil guy
Also really loved how he reinterpreted his instructions for Gir to better understand
I love these tags so much thank you @noirandchocolate
Zim has always been an eloquent and theatrical speaker, he is also very proficient with tech and science. He’s very smart!! But a lot of that tends to get lost or unnoticed :(
Zim is brilliant. For all his flaws, Zim’s just honestly just incredibly smart and when it comes down to the nuts and bolts he knows what he’s talking about. He worked as a scientist for a decent chunk of his life and it shows. It’s true he doesn’t think things through or cognitive dissonance trips him up, but that doesn’t change the fact that Zim is just scary intelligent.
THANK YOU BOTH for your agreement, always love to appreciate Zim Being Smart among like-minded people.
Zim isn’t stupid, he’s ignorant of Earth culture and other aspects of life here. Within canon, in which humans are themselves dumber and more unobservant than in real life, even this ignorance isn’t always a total hindrance to whatever Zim’s doing.
Zim isn’t stupid, he’s got major blind spots regarding the Empire and what he believes is his rightful, deserved place in it. And also about what he believes should be his (superior, dominant) status on Earth. And also about Dib being his nemesis.* Those are like. An Issue. And they lead him to do things that aren’t very wise or necessary, but it doesn’t make him unintelligent.
Zim isn’t stupid, he’s stubborn sometimes. He doesn’t always think things through because he assumes his plans are flawless and sometimes takes on too much at once.
Zim IS knowledgeable about MULTIPLE scientific disciplines. The man has either created or captured more than one dangerous monster, and has designed, built, programmed and reprogrammed SEVERAL pieces of technology. He’s also a hacker—this is CANON. Zim is also a creative planner and problem solver (even if sometimes those plans go awry or are too destructive to be effective). He’s also a persuasive guy among humans (sometimes even with the Tallest, though for different reasons), and an often quite eloquent speaker with a huge vocabulary (he forgets words on occasion but don’t we all, and he isn’t up on Earth slang or idioms but that’s understandable). He has nearly succeeded in taking over or destroying Earth, which he believes is his job, a FEW TIMES, through a combination of these skills.
Zim’s a smart fella. He has flaws, oh boy does he, but total stupidity and total incompetence aren’t among them.
*Seriously one of the funniest things in this show to me is the supreme bad luck Zim had in landing in Dib’s town, and his stubbornness in staying there. Zim. Buddy. Pal. Move away. Go set up another base literally anywhere else. The bothersome dirt child can’t drive.
@patchworkpoltergeist I LOVE YOUR TAGS
That describes Zim perfectly.
He’s an absolute genius, but lacks common sense and the ability to completely think things through. He’ll figure out the complex calculations required to undo a time slowed explosion, but won’t stop to consider the fact that he’s still in the blast radius. A 20 in intelligence and a 3 in wisdom.
i'd like to report a missing person

Invader Zim - Return of Keef MAP - my part 42
I was a participant in the MAP and joined it from the reserve, which I did not expect at all :D And now, more than a year later, it's finally came out!
In fact, there is a lot of trouble associated with this part due to the unfortunate timing of the drawing. I am very glad that I finished it, although now, years later, I see a lot of mess, but I'm still very happy
ANYWAY, this is my first experience in MAP and I'm glad that I was able to participate. It was an experience!!
My part on YouTube, link to the Full MAP you can find it in the description of the video:
hey man I think you two are lost

characters have to be a little bit awful in ways that you cant defend. its good for the ecosystem. your honor he did do that. He did in fact do that
Republicans embracing Nazi authoritarian policies in 2025 across all branches of government and conservative culture like legacy media/social/influencer as they finance prisons, defund health care, and destroy tourism is firmly making all things worse for the country.
Targeting critics of the "make everything worse" movement as they coddle the symbol of child rape and exhausting gaslighting, you would think the party of petty grievances could find one grievance with how bad things are going.
“Take year 3 student Emma Glenfield, who started with a simple question about magpies and wound up conducting some cutting-edge research almost by accident."
Emma Glenfield wants to know why magpies swoop. She's conducting some cutting-edge research — and displaying her results with Lego.
"I watched the people he swooped and I recorded it," Emma said.
"Then I got everything I recorded and I figured out that the people Mr Swoopsalot swooped were male, they were tall, and that they had thin or receding hair."
y'all i don't usually say this shit out loud but please read the link. she got 30 THOUSAND responses to her survey. THIRTY THOUSAND. And she's eight. So learning how to use MS Excel for that data wasn't really an option.
So she made a graph out of Legos. LEGOS!!
This kid is an absolute genius and I am so excited for her.
