Hi I hope you’re doing ok! I love Apex predator so much, and I was wondering how you come up with costume designs / where you get them from they’re so gorgeous!
Thank you!! If you're asking specifically about Apex Predator costume design I've talked a bit about it here
You might have already answered many questions like this, but I wish to ask all the same, considering how tremendous you are at depicting th
When I'm making a costume and I'm not tied to a specific type of historical clothes ( like making clothes for fictional species with their own culture ) I will first think about what could have molded the clothes 1- What are they made of (and what are they colored with if they are) 2- Are they practical or decorative (or both!) 3- What could the accessories be made of (if there are any) None of this is necessary but if you are interested in moving in this direction I recommend reading about what shaped the way people dressed in different historical periods, you'll find fascinating things that can inspire your costume creation
Now about the colors and patterns Here I basically use the same rules I use when picking an outfit for myself
✶ The color theory is the same as everywhere
( i have a pretty old color theory post here. not the best, i would've made a better one now but it could be helpful )
✶About patterns
✶ And lastly - accents (not necessary accessories)
Hope this helps!

The temptation, when adapting a really iconic detective, is to delve into his personal backstory. That's the devil talking.
A proper detective should be like a force of nature; like an avenging angel conjured into existence in a puff of eccentricities to unravel the crime and right the wrong. Their backstory is irrelevant.

i dont consider myself a 'fashion guru' by any means but one thing i will say is guys you dont need to know the specific brand an item you like is - you need to know what the item is called. very rarely does a brand matter, but knowing that pair of pants is called 'cargo' vs 'boot cut' or the names of dress styles is going to help you find clothes you like WAAAYYYY faster than brand shopping
this also goes for aesthetic or -core titles. 'y2k tank top' is going to get you resellers and fast fashion brands advertising to people looking to meet a current trend. 'thin strap crop tank top' is going to get you a diverse group of results and not upcharge you to hell and back
additionally, shop second hand when you can, second hand and thrift sites typically organize clothes by the cut and color. theyll be more affordable than a depop seller curating you a style to sell you
useful terminology for different kinds of clothing shapes :)
SO HOW 'BOUT THE DAMN BLOODBORNE APPAREL THEY RELEASED TODAY HUH
I went with Skydancer. ANYWAY Presenting Grisea, warrior, forest guide, and mushroom-gatherer by hobby. An imposing figure outwardly, being startlingly tall, often bedecked in armor of some nature, if not near constantly her armor, she is never the less a very chipper, enthusiastic woman, happy to offer a snack of recently gathered mushrooms.* *Do not under any circumstances accept a mushroom you cannot identify from her. She is seemingly immune to the natural toxins of many lethal fungi, and cannot actually tell what is safe for the average visitor.

Finally finished this one. Posted the WIP a few months ago. Also edited it down a lot to keep it simpler. Still got carried away with it though.
Trying to imagine a world that was starting to empty of spirits just as Jack arrived. How not all spirits have human shapes (note to self- never make it a whole environment AGAIN! Had to slap colors on the whole thing! Gah!). How hard it was, from the beginning, for Jack to have interactions even with others of his kind.
Looks like non-humanoid spirits have terrible communications skills. I’m looking at you, moon!
Might have to disappear for a few weeks-months (?), due to work. Possibly mostly just reblogs for a while.
I realized it wasn't just me who had a hard time drawing those genes. So maybe my ways of drawing it will also help someone.
*I used my customized brush in facet, but just drawing, copying and recoloring the triangles in different tones should work too.
The color used for the examples is Phthalo

calling it now the 11th anniversary update is gonna be a new community event like dustcarve dig and it'll be called something like oceansplit dive. the plot's gonna be that they discovered some weird shit at the bottom of the ocean and are sending a crew of entirely non-water flight dragons down there in a submarine to investigate. and the event materials we'll have to turn in are gonna be xbox controllers & duct tape. the last stage of the event's gonna end with the submarine, well... y'know... and the debris from the submarine's gonna land on the new water modern's head and wake them up from hibernation or something
maybe 17 colors on his original design was a little too much ha ha
