He likes the idea of romance in general but his fantasies of being adored aren't really about being in love.
What he has with Solomon has never and could be romantic because it's never been equal. Solomon took advantage of Asmo and he had to convince himself it was for the better.
He's so used to being taken advantage of, and manipulating others in return, whether on purpose or not. It felt strange when MC just... stayed. They didn't even use their pact with him. He liked them, showered them with compliments like all his friends. Something felt different with MC. They stayed when he ranted, they didn't complain when he whined about his chipped nails, they listened, looked at him with something unfamiliar. Or perhaps too familiar.
He remembered his brothers used to look at him like that. Back when they were angels. They're eyes lit up when he entered a room. They laughed alongside him, listened to his troubles, hugged him when he needed it. He missed it.
He missed being looked at like he mattered for more than his looks.
His brothers still love him, he knows this. He knows because he loves them. He knows because even at his most ugly they stayed.
Seeing MC do the same, staying despite his threats, staying despite him being so broken, staying when he cries, staying when he wants to dress them up, staying when even his brothers grow tired of him, staying even when his brothers are around, staying with him and his family.
The day he realizes he feels scared and excited all at once. He finally gets to know how it truly feels to love someone so badly you'd do anything to make them stay. The thought still remained what if this was what got them to leave? To abandon him?
He couldn't use his body to make them stay- They told him they only cared about him taking care of his body because it was his.
What did he do to make them stay? What was it? What does he have to keep doing? What is the price of their attention?
He loves them, undoubtedly, unconditionally.
They don't love him back, not yet.
He'll make sure they fall for him or die trying.
It was strange to Asmodeus. The lust he felt wasn't sexual (or at least not exclusively). He longed for everything MC could give him. No not give him. Just everything they were. Everything they did.
The glances, the lingering touches, the way their chest rose and fell when they slept, the way they smiled, the way they light up with joy when talking about their favorite subject, the way they reassure him when he's worried, the way they take care, the way they love-
Love. MC loves his family. MC loves him.
Asmodeus was now certain. If love was care, he wanted to be the one to care for MC for the rest of their life.
Asmodeus is a selfish demon. He knows it would break his brothers hearts but if he could be the one to make MC feel safe and happy forever- It would be worth it.
His brothers loved him as much as he loved them. They would forgive him eventually.
At the end of the day Asmodeus knows MC is happiest with all of their family together. He knows they love his brothers just as much as he loves them. He keeps his selfish wish locked away, holds MC close, stealing them for a few moments away from the chaos of their beloved family, and he whispers. Words from the depths of his selfish heart, of the part only his family is allowed to see.

Okay but in all seriousness I LOVE this(and find it a little relatable so maybe it’s bias), but I feel like while everyone is shown being heavily negatively affected by their sin, asmo doesn’t get that as much if that makes sense?
Also I love whenever people take asmo more seriously, I know he is canonically very very freaky and he’s always down to get down, but he has emotional needs to! He deserves to be held and told the words “I love you” without someone expecting him to put out in return!

Some headcanon about the brothers interactions and relationship.
Lucifer is well aware of Levi's social anxiety, so much that he was the one who intervened to allow him to study from home, speaking personally with Diavolo. For that reason, he can't help but spoil him.
Lucifer also greatly appreciates his passion, which is why he makes an effort to take an interest in his tastes, the new anime, manga, or games he’s passionate about, so he can share them with him and, in that way, try to help him open up more to the world and not withdraw so much into himself.
Mammon spoils Asmo; despite their differences, he’s the one who lands him the best shoots and opportunities in the modeling world, plus he always promotes Asmo’s products and frequently wears them. He’s the first to brag about his achievements.
The demon knows that Asmo is pretending, that he’s been pretending for a long time, so he makes sure to keep him busy, take him out partying, or just listen to him. It’s not uncommon for him to deal with obsessive fans or stalkers without Asmo ever noticing.
Leviathan fully understands Satan’s hyperfixations, so he’s Satan’s best ally when it comes to getting files, books, or other strange things. He’s the only one who can talk for hours on end with the fourth-born, and he often lets Satan “interrupt” his game nights to discuss a new interest.
Levi understands Satan’s frustration, imposter syndrome, and the helplessness of having someone dismiss your feelings. So often, when Satan has a fit of rage, Levi gives him his precious loyalty cards for cat cafes, or even accompanies him to shelters to volunteer with the kitties.
Asmodeus is always the first to go to Beel’s games, cheering him on with all his might and celebrating his victories as if they were his own. He promises to promote restaurants so they’ll continue to let Beel eat there. Many of his collaborations with restaurants are for this reason.
Asmo understands the pressure Beel feels from believing he must protect everyone, and the disappointment of having let his loved ones down. That’s why Asmo always gives him hugs, because, even if he doesn’t ask for it, Beel can feel his family’s presence.
Whenever Satan comes across a new or innovative blanket, pillow, or other sleep-related item, he buys it for Belphie. He also often uses his connections to stay informed about astrological events in the Devildom, and whenever he’s invited to these events, he always brings his brother along.
Satan knows that Belphie is suffering from deep depression. So he stays by his side, being with him without saying a word, simply being there for him whenever he needs it, without pressuring him, without forcing him to see the bright side, just there in case he ever wants to talk.
Beelzebub always tries to make sure Lucifer has some kind of snack in his study, bedroom, or RAD desk. He always tries to remind his older brother to eat, indirectly, for example by reminding him to buy certain things or suddenly deciding to make his brother's favorite meal.
He also takes care of putting him to bed on many of his nighttime expeditions. Beel tries to help his brother from the shadows, because he knows Lucifer doesn't want to depend on anyone, he takes care of him secretly so his pride isn't hurt.
Belphegor always makes sure Mammon has sweet dreams; despite how the younger brother acts, he knows how often his older brother has nightmares. Sometimes, he even uses them to persuade or scare off witches who are after his brother.
Belphie knows that Mammon can be many things, but above all, he cares deeply for them. So he shows just what a great older brother he is by acting like the younger brother from time to time. He knows Mammon loves it. And even if he doesn’t say so, he brags a lot about his accomplishments to other demons.
Mc always smiled when they heard about these situations, because there was nothing more adorable than seeing one of the brothers look out for the other.
