I had to go back to watch that scene and I’m just reading up on it. The plane was locked to auto-pilot to New York and 2 bombs were active. It showed that he tried to find switches to disable these settings but didn’t work.

And thank you for confirming! Granted I’m grumpy today but it always bothered me when people mocked Steve’s sacrifice because “why didn’t he jump out hurr durr.” Cause he was saving our stupid asses, that’s why!

And that’s why the scene got deleted. Gotta love the “kill your darlings” process during editing. Like yeah, you make a stupid scene you think is funny, but then when you’re deciding what will actually make it to the final cut, you consider things and say:

Pros of the scene: it’s funny, Rhodey is in a roll of being the biggest troll among all the characters.

Cons of the scene: IT GOES FUCKING AGAINST THE VERY CANON WE OURSELVES CREATED.

So you put your fucking brain where it fucking belongs, and delete the fucking scene. And everyone is happy.

A quick reminder that if Steve had not manually crashed the damn plane, it would have auto piloted itself to Manhattan. The only way to make damn sure that didn't happen was to crash it himself.

Yo I’m just feeling positive today so I wanna just say that I loved all of Cap’s movies, I liked EG, IW, A1, and AOU. I love Nat, I love Clint, I love Wanda, I love Thor, I love Steve using HYDRA’s super-secret-members-only phrase against them, I love America’s Ass, I love that Nat didn’t bother to recolour or even cut her hair, I love cats, and I love many other things ❤️

And to keep the train going - I love fat thor, I love that fat Thor is worthy, I love Steve and Thor trading mjolnir and stormbreaker, I love the little bump on Steve’s nose, I love the gotg soundtrack, I love Mary poppins y’all! I love how Team Antman was like “we look like us going to a baseball game,” which reminds me - I love Ava!!! 😭😭😭

I love how when the Avengers meet Laura for the first time Steve’s first reaction to apologize to Laura for “barging in” on her. I love how much of a considerate gentleman he was in that scene!

That was such a sweet touch with the hand covering Sam’s hand 🥰 I love how Steve looked at Sam in the same way that Dr. Erskine looked at Steve - utmost confidence that the person wielding the shield was going to remain not a perfect soldier, but a good man.
