luca, being a fan of ilya, has his notifications on for ilya's social media. so imagine his surprise when instead of the usual genre of ilya's insta story of lakes, selfies before the game, pictures of shane or anya or shane's parents, luca sees his own parents with ilya at their house. what's more is he actually received a notification because ilya tagged him saying "thank you to lucahaas_official parents for solyanka. was delicious" and of course luca immediately calls his parents bc what the hell is happening right now? his parents tells him theyve been talking with ilya for a few weeks now after they watched a game and met ilya there. this is probably a dream come true for luca, a dream he never even thought of.
now, hazy knows that ilya is close to his parents. knew of it the moment ilya met his parents on ilya's first game with the centaurs. his dad has asked too many questions to ilya, mundane questions but still too many. his mom apologized by inviting ilya to a dinner at their house. hayes was there that night so yes, he knows ilya is close to his parents but not this close, because why is ilya reminding him to buy a gift for his parents' wedding anniversary? and why is ilya giving him a list of what they'd like? and most importantly why does ilya already have a gift for them ready? and ilya just looks at him in weird way as if hayes is some alien. "we talk for hours when they call. did you know we have the same favorite music? ah yes, i will also buy them records!"

Hey do you guys think that one of the reasons Ilya likes annoying Shane so much, in addition to loving his angry kitten face, is he is not used to feeling so safe and secure with the idea of someone being mad at him? And he still feels the need to test to make sure he can't drive Shane off but mostly he just loves the fact that even if Shane were to actually get mad at him he would be completely safe and Shane would still love him. Plus Shane is so easy for him that even if he is annoyed he'll probably forgive him basically instantly. I think Ilya likes pissing Shane off because it's the first time he's felt loved unconditionally since he was 12 and is revelling in that fact.

To sum up: DOJ is requesting info that is protected by privacy laws. They want to “help” states “clean up” (I.e., remove voters) the voter rolls. Their proposed time line for this clean up may violate an existing law. There are also doubts about the accuracy of the database DOJ uses to check voter eligibility. Courts have already ruled against the DOJ’s claim they have a legal right to this info and there’s at least one lawsuit to prevent a state from handing over the info.
Not mentioned in the article: Bondi isn’t in charge of ICE. She hasn’t actually made any promises to rein in ICE. The letter is a list of demands and nothing offered in return except that things will be better once everyone quietly obeys.

ilya being totally submissive and nodding blankly and zoning out and going "yes sir" to whatever his father says in russia. ilya wishing he could have taken care of his father when he was dying even though his father never took care of him. ilya controlling/domming shane during sex (almost) always with a care and tenderness way beyond what the facade of their supposedly casual arrangement would suggest. ilya using sex with shane as a way to cope with and escape from the way his family treats him and the way being in russia makes him feel. ilya literally going "yes my father's dead. take off your clothes." ilya capping off his russian monologue love confession and shane's sweet suggestion that ilya teach him russian by telling shane he'll teach him phrases like "harder, please" and "yes sir". shane playfully calling ilya "sir" twice in the cottage and ilya instantly pouncing on him while they laugh together. ilya dominating shane in the most tender ways, taking care of him, knowing him, using his power and authority over him for good, to soothe, to build him up. hugging him, telling him he's brave, letting him cry and crumple at his feet and never berating him for being weak. ilya turning away from shane when he gets emotional and apologizing for crying and shane refusing to let him. shane being the only man ilya has ever been able to give loving touch to and receive it in return. shane allowing ilya a space to embody a masculinity that is nothing like his father's.

Honestly? Honestly the idea of Ilya Rozanov sitting himself down at twelve years old and saying I have GOT to get out of this country. It killed my mother. It's going to kill me. I've GOT to get out of here, he thinks to himself. And then he leaves (but not really) does some more growing up and he falls in love only he can't let himself be in love because the lead weight of this country is still tied to him and he thinks I have GOT TO GET OUT OF HERE. Then his father dies and the man he loves says "Come with me" and Ilya says I am NEVER going back!! I will wear my mother's cross and I will think of her every day and she will forgive me for never visiting her grave because her beautiful boy got OUT. I will go to a place where I am loved by a man A MAN who I love more than I ever thought I was allowed. Who holds my face and my hands and my heart. I will find a home for myself in his arms. authors notes: there is absolutely no one true meaning intended for this piece, but I guess my thoughts while making it were the plain, boring and literal way you talk about the world after seeing something traumatic , or the way things seem to lose all meaning and significance . and also the way you minimise an event to make it sound like it's not so bad , the way you remove detail from the memory.
like .. there is something over the river . there is something unspeakable over the river . when you recount it , you have to make it seem so small . it's just a body. the state the body is in can't be made out like this . you hide the details from yourself to forget how bad it really looked . you hide it in general - so insignificant you could miss it entirely ! it was just a body and The Something that killed it looming , and birds flying away .
and the world could be full of colour , but you can't see it that way any more . the grass is just grass . the trees are just trees . the fish in the river that's just a river are just fish , and that's just a body .

like sure they're not having sit down formal discussions about limits and safewords. shane would rather die than admit he has wants and needs; ilya makes everything into a joke or a game ("let's make a deal") to lessen the threat of rejection. but they've spent their entire adult lives studying each other's physicality on the ice ("you're an awesome player to watch"), competing against each other, having sex together, paying close attention, cataloguing physical tells, weaknesses, erogenous zones, preferences ("ginger ale cold enough?" + "i bought you cokes"). they've unintentionally become the world's leading experts in each other's bodies.
