i love this choice they made in ep 7 creating a parallel(?) between lestat walking through this daylit forest with the waiters toward the long table where his soul will be judged and then again when he's remembering/re-imagining walking through that forest at night with his village toward the witches place where innocent souls have been judged and condemned. both with a sense of disorientation and apprehension for what is waiting at the final destination.
the forest has such strong emotional associations in his psyche with the witches place, the burnings, killing the wolves, and in the books his role as a hunter and sole provider for his family. he escapes to paris, escapes to new orleans and montreal and the cities of his tour. but now he dreams of and longs for the forest after the tour is over and the album is done. i'm so interested in analyzing how specific places in his history become symbolic in relation to his shifts in personas and the odyssey of identity.
