I hate how a woman having body hair is immediately seen as this like political statement or that she’s gnc or whatever like girl wtf it’s just the natural state of her being

You can’t reconcile with people who aren’t honest about how they mishandled you.
listening to sufjan stevens is not enough I want him to cup my face and sing “did you get enough love, my little dove, why do you cry?” and then wipe my tears.
I'm gonna say it, I do think that even the laziest person imaginable should have a roof over their head, food in their stomach, and access to healthcare
I want to be 19 again I would do everything right this time
who cares if you don't fully "get" the weird postmodernist novel on your first read, or if the experimental arthouse film is opaque to you on your first viewing? you are not being graded. you are not being scored. there is value in the attempt. every time i've read House of Leaves or watched Blue Velvet, I've gotten something new from it. the idea that you might not "get" something and therefore shouldn't bother with it is so silly to me
i was training a young person at work, and she referred to sexual assault as "SA" out loud, and i immediately was like, "no, it's sexual assault, call it what it is," bc idgaf if the algorithm overlords have taught y'all that you should fear direct language, how tf do any of you expect to ever address real issues with any amount of seriousness if you can't even say the words? imagine an advocate looking a sexual assault survivor in the eyes and asking "did he grape you?" it's absolutely fucking absurd, but these young interns and new hires are coming into an environment where we deal with survivors of all different kinds of abuse, and they're coming with the mindset that the words are as bad as the actions, and that makes them shitty at the job and look juvenile af
i HATE self-censorship for a lot of reasons, but being in crisis work makes it even more frustrating. who are you censoring for? like i am being so fr, WHO are you censoring for? have you even thought it through? people who have been raped know that they have been raped. if someone attempts suicide or is grieving someone who did, saying "sewer slide" isn't going to protect them from any of the feelings. a murder victim's family isn't going to feel better bc you said "unalived" instead of murdered. if anything, it's just extremely invalidating and othering. it's saying "what happened to you is so bad that i won't even say the word," which is NOT trauma-informed care. you are not protecting survivors/victims when you self-censor. the ONLY things you protect when you self-censor are the puritanical ideologies that are being encouraged by rich fascists who want your money and obedience
say the fucking words, guys. just say the goddamn words before i go insane!!!
"that time of the month" "monthly visitor" "feminine hygiene products" GRRAH!!! SHUT UP SHUT UP!!! PERIOD!! MENSTRUATION!!!! TAMPONS!!! PADS!! MENOPAUSE!!!!!!!!!!!
VAGINA!!!!
stop making penelope nonchalant when she's anything but. this woman can't live without odysseus. she spends her days longing and weeping for him. she schemes and plots to put off her remarriage in hopes of his return. she praises him with every word that passes her lips. when she thinks all hope is lost and she has to marry another, she prays to goddess artemis to kill her instead.
penelope is hopelessly and desperately in love with odysseus.
Odysseus: Your mother and I don't use pet names for each other
Telemachus: Uh huh. Hey, what do bees make?
Odysseus: Honey?
Penelope: Yes, dear?
Odysseus:
Telemachus: Don't lie to my face again
i'm aware that odysseus cleaned up the halls and purified his house before penelope even woke up from her slumber. but the imagery of penelope seeing the husband she had yearned for all these years, covered in naught but the blood of the men who have tormented her, their corpses scattered across, and throwing herself into his arms blood and all is just so potent to me.
Odysseus: I've done brutal, ruthless things to monsters and men and I'm no longer the same person you fell in love with, but if you give me the chance I will prove myself worthy of being your husband again, though I understand if the things I've done make me unforgivable to you
Penelope, extremely turned on by the sight of Her Husband covered in the blood of the men who have been tormenting her and Telemachus for months: Did you forget I'm from Sparta?
I want to point out how the final fight in Epic is not in song 38 but song 40.
How after Odysseus became "the monster" he then, was the last boss to fight
And Penelope fights him.
Because she fights for her husband, for the man beyond the trauma, for the man WITH the trauma, for the man she will always love and will wait forever if necessary.
She makes him angry, he gets furious and Penelope is the only character so far who matches that fury and tames it.
And Penelope wins.
She defeats the "monster".
And all it's left... it's just a man. Her man.
Poseidon: How will you sleep at night?
Odysseus: Next to my wife.
Poseidon: And do you think she'll be proud of you torturing a god?!
Odysseus: Dude, she's from Sparta. Me telling her this is gonna be like foreplay for her.
Made these for fun! (Free use is fine with credit in bio!)
