So that happened...
⚠️ spoiler warning ⚠ SPOILERS for You Me Her Seasons 1..5
I just finished watching Season 5 and I'm a mocktails blender of emotions. I'd think that I'd be a compersion champ for our heros' "Happily ever after", but my dominant emotion is: I {tries not to cry} miss them soo much! My unrealistic parasocial obsession relationship with these fictional characters should not be this strong. (Quick aside: if you feel the same way, then season one, episode 3 is a snugly blanket of joy, that I can recommend for anyone that is failing refusing to go cold-turkey on this "relationship"... with fictional characters. [I keep saying fictional characters to let you know that I'm not entirely off my rocker... even though some part of me is unable to disengage the "suspension of disbelieve drive" and "knows" that EJI are somewhere, (a world away) living the life that they deserve, and that I want for them, {and for myself.}]) Where was I? Oh yes: review. I thought that Season 5 was tight. I (mostly) didn't worry that the story would deprive us of the ending that I wanted, (we have "reality" for that.) I think that Izzy giving birth could have been a little more convincing if she has done some cardio and been spritzed with water, (not that it mattered to me, as I'm here for their relationship dynamic and watching them stumble about like drunken savannah ungulates.) Everything that helps to deconstruct, The Normal (tm) can benefit everyone: it helps those that are "presuming their way through life" to realise the actual diversity of desires; needs; likes; wants... and how that diversity can help each of us accept each other and permit the minorities in our society have some [redacted: swearing] dignity. (When everyone's unique, no one is strange.) I'm far too afraid to live my authentic life and hope, (possibly delusionally) that the existence of You Me Her will enable some people to comfortable live their truth. If this is my last entry, then I'd like to thank Rachel Blanchard, Priscilla Faia, Greg Poehler, Melanie Papalia, Jennifer Spence, Ennis Esmer, Patrick Gilmore, John S. Shepherd, and all of the rest of the cast and crew that made #YouMeHer exist. The story y'all told touch and moved me in ways that very few people seem to understand. I'm off to make some tea and pretend that my friends EJI just moved to another country and that I can enjoy the surprisingly well crafted home-videos of their lives.
Thank you. ♥△⚮★

Season 4: thoughts so far
Maybe I’ve been spoiled by other channels, but my overriding feeling about the first half of season 4 is “Each episode feels like the first act of a three act story.” <looking under the couch> Where’s the rest of it?
This isn’t just some hollow praise of, “I want more” [0] I genuinely feel like someone accidentally spliced the credits for each episode too early, or its some new, “the rest of the episode is after the credits to better acknowledge the dedicated cast and crew that made You Me Her exist”, (and continue to please my poly heart.)
[0] I also do want more, and Season 4, so far is providing. Thank you.

As Jack might describe this episode when trying to impress Little Gabe: TL;DR An adorable exploration of relationship dynamics. (Also, props for effectively using “Topping from the bottom” in the most vanilla way possible.)
I loved how Shaun’s genuine Cupid love is unfazed by the whirlwind that is Nina’s, (increasingly unhinged) panic in the face of commitment.
I loved how Big Gabe’s description of masculinity is, (obviously) a perfect description of the imminent struggle between Emma and the new character Lala. #turf_war
The melody of the emotional manipulation was in harmony throughout the episode and managed to close with a flourish that left me warm and smiling.

Classic hero’s journey chapter two. Upheaval caused by decisions. Both Nina and Emma chose new paths that enable their support network be useful, (vital?) while these two heroes take a blind, (and possibly foolish) leap of faith.
I was smugly amused by the dig at “This is Us” some other, less funny emotionally manipulative television series. I thought it was an honest and brave choice for the Binge Club to be viewing, (though if I lived in Hawthorne heights, I’d suggest we Watch “You Me Her”, “Sex Education” and “Bonding”.)
The episode flowed so smoothly and was so slickly constructed that it was over before I had even settled in. It was a, “wait! I haven’t even started my popcorn!” moment. Hash-tag: need more, (also going to google how to reheat popcorn.)

Oh how I’ve missed them. I’ve tried to avoid trailers, because season 03 trailers were a sucky spoil fest. (Should have just been EJI breaking the 4th wall with the phrase, “We’re back. Third seasons the charm.” and nothing else.) Season 04 trailer should have been, Jack saying, “Get hyped. Season 4 coming your way” followed by disapproval from the entire cast.
Episode 01 of the fourth season slides us back into their lives effortlessly. Like a long estranged friend that doesn’t have to say anything. I was momentarily disappointed that Andy seems to have been written out. I love love love Emma’s new, (very cringe worthy) “poly foul”, (genius!) catchphrase. It suits Emma’s character to “research” until she feels like an expert, (while indirectly declaring herself as a hierophant of poly wisdom, (and will end up as either a false poly messiah or the poly Antichrist.))
Jack seems to be either basking in poly perfection or set up as a mansplaining straw man caricature, (he’s a trained qualified councillor; he’s going to know not to “people-splain”.)
Izzy’s dad has gone from Darth Monogamy to a poly yoda overnight? And Izzy is sneaking about in her own home like she’s some monogamous muppet having an affair? [Curious minds expect answers before the season’s finalé.]
I was seriously worried that Dave’s “book tour” was just an explanation to paper over a scheduling conflict, (I even cheered a little when he turned up to “sportively torment” Carmen.)
A good start that made me wish that I had EJI every week between the seasons.

Two months later, we find EJI back in Hawthorne Heights, test-renting the Helen Wilberg house. Will the surprising news revealed at Emma's baby-doc appointment put enough pressure on Izzy to finally cave and put down roots in the 'burbs?

I have just backed up my blogs using https://gitlab.com/iso-i/tumblr_evacuate
(its just a scrappy collection of scripts to copy the text of each post and the images.) Its far from perfect, (and is probably missing lots of things.)
Tested on Linux. (I hope that someone will fork it for windows and other operating systems.) It might work on OSX, but you might have to change the paths.
“That’s a wrap, ladies and gents! 🎬 Catch up with your faves when Season 4 premieres in 2019. #YouMeHer”
Good news, (for those that were snoozing.)
Let them eat k’ache
throuple vs thruple “trying to communicate three people in a couple”
The prefix co means, with; and a single can’t be “with” something on its own, (a hand can’t hold itself.) Couple has grown to be equated with meaning two, in English simply because so many people have lacked the energy, inclination or desire to count beyond two. I can cohabit with all those that I love and coexist even with those that are not like me. In conclusion: “We three are a couple” is valid and means “we three individual human adults are combined like eggs flour and water” #poly_is_a_Piece_Of_Cake
Thoughts on S3 so far of YMH?
I love it, because I love the show and will always back it because it’s amazing a funny and dramatic and Pricilla Faia…am I right? I’m right!
However! This hasn’t been my favourite season. So much has annoyed me from how dragged out this whole Emma coming back thing had been. And the baby! It’s still. Too. Soon. However, I can’t wait to see them all with the baby and see how they all develop. I’m also all in with Nina and Shaun, I’m just not in agreement with how little interaction Izzy and Nina have had. Like, have they even spoken in the last three episodes? I don’t think so! It should have been her scheming to get the trouble together. Not Carmen. Come on!
Long story short, I love it, I just can’t wait to see the back of Smiley (because she’s going to rear her head in the next two/three episodes and basically ruin the progress made in the last episode. If she does I will personally hunt her down and stab her in the eye with a spork.
Also, Izzy’s dad needs to piss off. He isn’t needed. No one wants him and he’s just going to interfere with the theouple. Like, go away dude. Go get a job in another city.
And I SWEAR to god, if they try and move them all to Seattle. I’ll throw a hissy fit. If that happens we lose Carmen and Dave, we lose Nina even more (which can’t happen because Nina!).
And what was that stunt with Andy? Just, NO! Stop. That’s going to make Nina drift further from Izzy. Ugh. One love triangle (square?) is enough for this show, please.
I’m still completely in love with this show and hope we have many many seasons to come.
