How do you start a novel? Where do you get the ideas from?
These are just some questions I hear on a regular basis to the people I do tell that in my spare time one of the many various activities I like to do is write.
This shit just flows, you can’t force it just like the same way you can’t force a fart otherwise it will end badly.
Where do I get the ideas from? For the majority of the ‘stories’, they are all kind of realistic stories so the ideas range from a whole bunch of things - Past experiences, some storylines from movies and TV shows, lyrics from songs, dreams etc... I always make sure when I do have an idea I put it in my phone immediately because my memory seems to be like a fucking sieve.
How do you start a novel? Once you have the idea you sit down and plan out your story, even if it is just for the beginning of it plan it out. I’ve gone halfway through a story before without planning and it came back to bite me in the ass because even though I had in mind what I wanted when it come to writing it down has been a bastard.Â
Everyone has a story inside them, it’s just getting the idea formed into a story which is the trickiest part.
