My bad for not responding to this in a timely manner. When I saw the title initially I wasn’t really in a space to be dealing with topics like this. But I had some time and energy today and I’m seriously glad I watched this video. Seriously, this is essentially what me and my folks relationship is like. I cannot have a frank and honest conversation with them about certain things from my childhood without them especially my mama feeling I’m attacking her as a person and I keep having to stop what I’m feeling or saying to essentially get into an argument with her. So that last part.

struck a major chord with me. Because I’ve realized the one person I know I can turn to about my parents is my sister. For the longest period of time we didn’t have a healthy relationship with each other and for long stretches we acted like the other didn’t exist. But as we’ve gotten older and in these past few years or so I’ve realized that she’s one of my best friends and I’d be completely lost without her.
