Thinking of Toni Morrison this morning, so I took out my much-loved college copy of Jazz. This drawing fell out. Fitting. The body, all in muscles, the hand held high, as if it’s saying - Listen. I woke up this morning craving trees. So I grabbed my friend and we found ourselves on an old favorite trail, in the thick of them. There were lots of runners and bikers, flying past us, but we found places to pause; to sniff grass and watch birds; to take in the green and the sky. We used to do this a lot, escape alone in the trees. Spring is back. We may be sauntering, but we’ll be back on the trails. It’s how make space for the world.
