Hey, honey! I'm really in love with this Brazilian player and I barely see anyone writing about him, so I was wondering if you'd be willing to 🤧
His name is Lucas Paquetá and I was thinking maybe some fluff, with reader working for the team (psychologist, public relations etc.), being rlly close to the boys and Lucas falling in love with her. His teammates are always making fun of him and putting him into awkward situations w her, until one day they finally convince him to ask her out and he's all shy and stuttering and it's just rlly sweet 🥺
This is too big, I'm so sorry lol
So, this is my first time when I write for Lucas. And, it's the first time I'm writing for someone outside my list. This imagine has changes in POV [the narrator changes twice] because it seemed appropriate to me.
''I am glad you came to me after all, Lucas,'' you said, sitting down comfortably in your chair. The man sitting across from you looked at you carefully, analyzing your question, before he put the glass filled with water back on the table standing between you.
''I need a conversation.'' he informed. You nodded, shifting slightly so you could put your foot down. You grabbed your notebook, which you spread out on your knees so that you could freely jot down his words.
''How are you acclimating to the new club?" you asked with interest when you realized the man didn't want to talk first.
''Fine.'' he replied. He saw you wanted to ask another question about his work, so his hand rose quickly in a gesture to stop you. ''I wanted to talk about something else.''
You nodded, glancing at the man, who was staring at you with concern. His figure was bent over, as if he was expecting something.
''What do you want to talk about?" you asked.
''Would you mind not jotting it down?" he asked after a moment, pointing to your notebook. Your uncertain gaze went to the object and then back to him. ''Please.''
You analyzed his words for a moment, then closed the notebook, putting it back on the table. You could see Lucas almost breathe a sigh of relief when you did so.
''I need advice.'' he explained, lowering his eyes to his clasped hands for a moment. ''I met a woman…''
Lucas did not believe in love at first sight. To him, these were fairy tales peddled by hopeless romantics who wanted to romanticize the moment of a first meeting at all costs.
He was of this belief until he met Y/N.
It was one of his first training sessions with his new team. He hadn't quite had time to acclimate yet, and his brain was constantly trying to switch to a new track in life. Dressed in his training outfit, he walked out onto the training field, stroking the fabric of his jersey on his stomach with his hand. Some of his fellow athletes were already on the field, warming up their spot, but his attention was almost immediately drawn to a woman who was sitting in one chair in the stands. His eyes automatically squinted to get a better look at her, but when he realized he was seeing her for the first time in his life, he turned his head so he could meet the face of one of his teammates with his eyes.
''Who is that?" he asked, slowing his step and pointing with his eyes at a figure sitting in the stands. Declan looked in that direction, trying to see who Lucas was talking about. This was nothing unusual; Lucas often asked various teammates who the individuals were.
''It's Y/N,'' Declan answered after a moment. ''The team psychologist.'' he added, noting that the sound of her name said nothing to the man. Lucas nodded his head in understanding, walking quietly toward the rest of the players, who gathered in one place.
Y/N, meanwhile, closed the notebook she was holding in her lap, and then, clutching it in her hands, rose from her chair to move toward the men who had gathered near David.
''Y/N found time today to visit you guys in training.'' David communicated when the girl finally stood next to him. Lucas looked curiously in her direction, pleased that he could finally get a better look at her. A slight smile adorned her face as she nodded her head, just after finishing the trainer's words.
''Today I want to check how you guys are doing in interacting with each other.'' she informed, her gaze carefully mirroring each of the players as she said this. The tone of her voice was pleasing to the ear, and Lucas was convinced that he could listen to her podcasts for hours if she did one. ''Especially when interacting with a new player.''
She said, trying to search with her eyes for a new face, and when her eyes finally rested on him, she smiled at him in a friendly way.
''We need to work on your communication so that you achieve better results together in the game.'' She added after a while.
''Lucas, stay for a while.'' David asked as the rest of the players moved to warm up. His eyebrows raised, not knowing what was going on until Y/N covered the distance separating them.
''Nice to meet you, Lucas.'' she said, extending her hand in his direction. ''I am Y/N''
He was sure he would have sounded trivial, but when their hands touched together, he couldn't get out from under the impression of the softness of her hands. They were soft and manicured, and the man couldn't help but look at them. He felt like a teenager touching a girl for the first time in his life, so - not knowing what was going on - he moved his hand away, hiding it behind his back.
''How do you feel about the team?" she asked. ''I know it's only been a few days, but what do you think of your interactions with your fellow competitors?''
Lucas furrowed his eyebrows, not knowing what to say. He thought about his words for a moment before he began.
''It is too early to tell. But I think we may be on the right track.'' he replied diplomatically. His answer sounded more like a statement to the media than words directed at the psychologist, so all Y/N could do was smile slightly in his direction.
''Sure.'' she said after a moment of silence, guessing that she would get no other answer. She expected Lucas to tell her just that - it would take time for him to open up to her properly. ''If anything happens, remember that you can always come to me and tell me.''
She informed. The man nodded in response, and then, guessing that this was the end of the conversation, ran at a jog toward the rest of the warming up players.
Lucas did not expect that anyone after Maria could turn his head as much as Y/N did. In the weeks that followed, she appeared regularly at training, confining herself to merely observing the team's behavior and exchanging insights with their coach. Every time he spotted her in her favorite spot, his face - as if subconsciously lit up at the sight of her, and he was glad in his soul to see her.
They talked little during this time, so it seemed additionally strange to the man how quickly Y/N became one of his favorite reasons to come to training, and persistent thoughts about her often put him to sleep when he lay in bed in the evening.
He felt stupid. He felt like a madly infatuated teenager whose hormones are buzzing to where he can't help himself in relation to a fondness he could only see in the school hallway, and with whom he had never exchanged a word. On the other hand, he liked how he felt. Y/N evoked feelings in him he thought he would never feel after his longtime love for Maria.
He believed he was in love with Y/N. Even though he didn't know her very well yet.
So he decided he had to do everything to get to know her better.
''When I met her, I wanted to get to know her better.'' Lucas informed, meticulously omitting information about how he met the girl he decided to tell you about. You nodded your head in understanding. Your hands were in your lap as you listened to him carefully. ''But she didn't want to let herself be known at first. I started with daily conversations with her, during which I told her about my work so that I could make any kind of contact with her. But she always responded the same way, asking me not to worry and saying that I would surely give my best. And if I want, she will always be there to listen to me.''
Lucas interrupted, directing his gaze from his hands to you.
''I needed many weeks to learn anything about her.'' he stated after a moment. ''The first information I got from her is that she likes animals. It was so random, I know.'''
You smiled slightly at his words, encouraging him to continue.
''But when I finally found out about it, I think I was happy like an idiot.'' he communicated, his eyes sparkling as he said this. He shifted so that he could rest his back comfortably against the pillow.
''Later she opened up more to me,'' he continued. ''Like, it continued to be random information that I would get from her during our few minutes of conversation that we could share. But every day, when I got up in the morning, I was happy that I might see her. I love her laugh and the way she looks at me when I say something to her.''
''Maybe you should just tell her about it?" you asked, tilting your head, unaware of the meaning of his words. ''It might affect your work on the field.''
''Yes, my teammates say that too.'' he informed, making your eyebrows raise. You were sure that the other players told you everything whenever they showed up at your office. Apparently, they decided that this information was not that useful to you. ''When they realized she was attracted to me, they started doing everything so that I would only tell her about it. They wanted to be very helpful in this.''
You nodded your head in understanding, and there was a deafening silence between the two of you for a moment, during which Lucas collected the words he had in his head.
''I'm afraid he won't reciprocate my feelings.'' he said sincerely. His smile got smaller when he said this. ''However, I have decided that today is the day I will ask her out.''
You smiled broadly at his words, straightening up slightly with renewed enthusiasm.
''Y/N, will you go on a date with me?" he asked, looking at you expectantly. Your face froze upon hearing his words. You looked at him for a moment of shock painted on your face, making all the hopes Lucas had in him fall on the battlefield.
''I'm sorry, this is stupid.'' he waved his hand, rising from the couch to head for the exit. He was already about to press the door handle when he heard your voice.
''Lucas, I can't meet with you as your psychologist.'' you informed, making his muscles tense up. ''But I'll be out of work in two hours.''
You added after a moment, making the man turn toward you. His face was painted with surprise and then joy, as his brain properly interpreted your words. And when he walked out of your office a moment later, he could have sworn he was the happiest man in the world.
