Pairing: Pedri, Ferran, Eric, Gavi, Pau and Lamine.
A/N: Hello, darlings! I'm back after my long hiatus. Our boys won the World Cup, I am really proud and I want to celebrate with a Barca Boys World Cup Edition!
Pedri
"Look at you" you say, looking at him in the field.
You walk into the field his parents, his childhood friends and family towards him. You are wearing a 'Team Friends & Families' vest.
You let his parents, his brother and family congratulate him. Letting them enjoy his moment first, you look around at the stadium to see what he sees from his point of view.
"Hey," he says, finally getting close. "I'm shaking." He giggles.
You let a pout out, trying not to cry as you wrap your arms around him. "Eres campeón del mundo, pepi." You whisper into his skin, not caring about the sweat. (You are a world champion, pepi)
He hugs you tightly, letting a big content sigh. He is definitely shaking with exciment, he is still not quite sure it really happened.
"Mira, they gave me another medal." He separates, grabbing his medal with his hands. "It's cute, isn't it?" He pucker his lips and nods.
"Muy guapa," you nod. Touching the medal carefully, looking up at him again. You can't help but let a giggle out.
"I told you." You whisper. "Last night you asked me what I thought was happening, and I said it. You will be a world champion, Pedri."
He nods, grabbing your face and kissing your lips. You wrap your arms around his back, letting a small smile while into the kiss.
"It's unreal." He whispers, forehead against yours. "I really am a world champion." He smiles.
"Venga chavales, let's take some pictures!" Fernando says, patting Pedri's back, hugging the two of you.
"Vaya manera de cagar el momento, eh." Pedri chuckles. "Let's go, guapa. You have to touch the cup." He nods, grabbing your hand as you walk towards the player who has the cup right now. "It feels amazing!" (What a way to ruin the moment)
Eric
"Mister World Champion." You say to him, giving him a big hug and a kiss on his cheek. "Are you okay? I saw what happened, is your neck okay?"
You frown a little, checking him to make sure he is fine. He scuffs, passing an arm behind your neck. He pulls you into him, smashing his lips onto his.
"It doesn't matter, this matters." He smiles, the gold medal on his neck burning into your skin. "Ganamos!" He whispers. "I'm in cloud nine."
You let a giggle out, nodding and kissing his cheek. It really doesn't matter what happened after winning. It matters now, you, him, the feeling.
"Can you believe it?" He asks, separating and looking around. His parents taking a picture with the cup. "I am a world champion." He nods.
"World champion, baby!" You smile, touching the medal.
"Your boyfriend is a world champion." He giggles.
You let a laugh out, seeing him happy makes you extra happy.
"Yeah, I can't wait to say that everywhere. 'Hey, y/n! You have a boyfriend, right? Who is him?'." You fake a different voice.
He looks at you smiling, laughing at that sentence. His shiny eyes looking like dazzling stars.
"Oh, yes. His name is Eric'." You nod. "Eric Garcia. You know, footballer, fcbarca, National Team and recently'." You pause, smiling at him. "World champ'." You nod.
"Joder, I love the sound of that." He giggles, grabbing your cheeks and kissing you.
Ferran
"Amore," you say as you hug him. "You did it, Ferran! You have Spain the world cup." You smile at him.
"I'm dreaming." He says, smiling so hard his cheeks hurt. "Venga, pitch me. There's no way."
You nod, grabbing his hands. "Oh, boy. There is a way, there was a way and you took it. It's yours baby, the cup is home thanks to you." Kissing his hands.
He nods, smiling at you. The way he looks around, his other teammates with their families. He make that happen with all of them.
"We did it." He says. "I'm passing out, I promise." He laughs, giving you a hug and kissing your lips.
"Yeah, you wouldn't even if you were." You smile, teasing him.
You take some pictures with him, help Arantxa take pictures with him. Take the family pictures and some solo pictures for your personal collection.
While you are walking out of the field, he pauses, looking at you with a mischievous smile.
"What?" You say, letting a fake tired sigh out.
"You own me a car!" He nods.
"I- what?" You open your eyes wide. "When? Why? How?" You scuff at the craziness of the sentence.
"When I won the euros you told me, 'Ferran, when you win the World Cup. I'll buy you a car'." He nods.
You shake your head, walking and pulling him. "Sure, tomorrow. I'll buy you two!" You chuckle.
"Yay" he giggles, tightening the wrip on your hand.
Gavi
"Pablo!" You say, lifting your hand.
He looks over, moving away from Javi and Aurora. You grab your camera out of your clear bag.
"Quieto!" You say, pointing the camera at him and snapping a picture. "Come here, baby. You won!" Opening your arms and hurrying next to him.
"Los viste? The goal? Joder, I'm still dreaming." He says, a little out of breath. "I don't even care about the stupid fight with Paredes." He scuffs.
You let out a tiny giggle, he is too happy to even remember that. You nod, pecking his lips, he smiles, doing a happy little dance there in your arms.
"Look at the trophy, it's so heavy. It's golden." He separates, grabbing your hand and taking you to the group.
You went to the bathroom before walking into the field to see him. That gave his family the opportunity to be the first ones to hug him and congratulate him.
"Look, so pretty." He lifts his eyebrows, the big smile he has is cute to see.
You take the camera again. "I need to take a picture of this." You get the digital camera to focus on his with the cup.
He poses, first one smiling, then him kissing it. Even his dad joined and you took a picture of them.
He then looks at you, you check the pictures before looking back on. He nods, looking around and then back at you.
"Besala," he whispers, getting the cup closer. "It's amazing, amor." He smiles.
You don't hesitate, giving the cup a kiss. You place your free hand on the side of the cup. Your fingers touching his, your look at him while doing it.
"How does it feel?" He asks in a soft voice.
"Like my boyfriend is a World Cup winner" you smile.
Pau
"Pau!" You say, smashing yourself against his chest. "FIFA Young Player." Your mouth opens in a big surprise expression.
"Si!" He nods happily. "Look, my trophy." He shows you the trophy he got just moments before.
"Ay, bebé. This is so amazing." You smile, giving him a big hug. "I am so proud of you, congratulations."
The way his shoulders fall, that adrenaline washing down little by little. The hug helps him feel grounded, it's after this hug and his family's hug that he can really say.
'I did it!'
"I'm really happy." He smiles, his eyes glossy from excitement.
"You should be, nobody can tell you anything! You won, you played amazing and you are a world champion!" You grab his cheeks. Looking at him directly. "Now, let's see that cup. I heard it's amazing!"
He nods, grabbing your hands. He walks over to his family, his sister is taking a selfie with the cup.
"Mirala!" He says, his sister turns and smile. "I work hard so she can take that selfie, so you better look good!" He teases, smiling.
Lamine
"Y qué fue?" He sings, singing the Don Miguelo song. "No hiciste na!" He jumps, grabbing your hands and making you jump. "Con tanta chapa, pa hacerle ran-quincán-quincán."
You jump, laughing at his exciment, even his little brother joined and jumps with the two of you.
You let one of his hands go, grabbing the hand of his baby brother as the three of you jump. His mom on the side filming.
"Keyne, sing it." Lamine says, making his brother go crazy.
After a good part of the song, you all calm down. Laughing at the craziness of the scene. You wrap your arms around him, giving him a kiss on the cheek.
"This feels so crazy, my head is spinning. Am I dreaming? Be honest! Is this a dream?" He rambles, heart pounding at the happiness.
"Noup." You shake your head. "You really did it, Lami. You are a world champion, the world champion." Nodding.
He pauses and looks at you. Really looking at you, his head finally pausing for a few seconds and wrapping the moment.
"Joder, I could do this again, and again, and again." He nods.
"Well, let's see in four years." You giggle. "But for now, enjoy. You did it!" You smile, pressing your lips to his in a peck.
"World champion, yeah!" He yells, making Keyne yell too.
inwhich! you, a professional ice figure skater, bumps into a man with a big frowny face while dropping off lunch for your brother during practice.
frannytalks! english is not my first language, so i apologize for any mistakes. i really hope you like this! please like, reblog, & comment if you’d like to be added to the taglist!
the security guard at the entrance barely glanced at you before waving you through. you had been here enough times dropping things off for your brother that nobody really questioned it anymore.
with a bag of food in one hand and your phone in the other, you walked through the training center, looking around for him.
“raphinha?” you called, peeking into one of the hallways.
“he’s still out on the pitch.” one of the staff members smiled, pointing toward the doors.
“thank you.” you smiled back, adjusting your grip on the bag.
you pushed through the doors and immediately regretted not bringing sunglasses. the afternoon sun was bright, reflecting off the field, right into your face.
players were scattered around, some training and some talking near the sidelines. you spotted your brother almost instantly. he was talking to a coach across the field.
before you could start walking toward him, a voice caught your attention.
“you shouldn’t be standing there.” a guy said as he walked past you.
you looked up, he had dark hair, thick eyebrows, and a serious expression.
“move out of the way. people are training.” he said before continuing toward the sidelines.
you blinked, no one had ever been straight up rude to you, apart from your rivals fans and such.
he just kept walking, and you stared after him for a second, hoping he’d redeem himself and say he was joking but he didn’t.
you brushed it off and continued toward your brother. “hey.” you smiled, handing him the bag.
raphinha immediately took it from you. “you’re a lifesaver.” he smiled, already opening it.
you glanced back toward the field. the same guy was standing with a few teammates now.
“who’s that?” you asked while pointing toward the boy.
raphinha followed your gaze. “ah, that’s pablito gavi.” he answered.
“why? you think he’s cute?” your brother jokingly raised his eyebrows.
you hummed. “no. i think he’s rude and like a mr. frowny face.”
raphinha nearly choked on his drink. “what?”
“your friend.” you said, nodding toward the field. “he told me to move.”
raphinha laughed. “that’s all?”
“yes.” you mumbled.
“that’s not rude, y/n.” he nudged you.
you gave him a look. “he literally walked up to me, told me to get out the way, and left.”
raphinha shook his head, still smiling. “trust me. that’s just gavi.”
“my point still stands, he’s rude.” you rolled your eyes.
“good thing my friends are off limits anyways.” he winked at you, which caused you to roll your eyes once more.
raphinha always made it very clear that his friends and teammates were off limits, but in reality any human being was off limits for him. you hadn’t tried out dating at all because of how protective he’d get.
“whatever, i’m gonna go now.” you said, already standing up before he even had time to respond properly.
he barely looked up from his food, “you always do that.” he said, voice muffled slightly as he kept eating.
“do what?” you asked, adjusting the strap of your purse on your shoulder.
“run away when i say something you don’t like.” he smirks.
you closed your eyes and let out a small breath through your nose, glancing once more across the training field towards gavi without meaning to.
“i’m not running away.” you said flatly
raphinha finally looked up, eyebrows slightly raised, amused again “sure.” he said, dragging it out a little.
you didn’t answer that instead you leaned down, kissed his cheek quickly out of habit, and straightened again.
“text me later.” you said, flashing him a soft smile.
“yeah yeah.” he replied, already distracted again by his sandwich.
you walked off without looking back.

the olympics came faster than you wanted them to and your skates felt tighter than usual, or maybe it was just your brain convincing you of things that weren’t real.
you kept flexing your fingers, then stopping yourself because you didn’t want to overthink it.
your coach spoke from behind you, trying to encourage you before you started, but it sounded so far away that you didn’t hear any of it.
when your music started everything felt crowded. you moved through the ice smoothly just like you had been practicing for the past couple of years.
by the time you landed your final jump, your chest was burning and your breathing was uneven, but you kept going and kept pushing until the music finally ended and you came to a stop in the center of the rink.
for a second there was nothing but silence, then the arena broke open with sound. you flashed a big smile towards the crowd and made your way over to your coach.
you sat through a couple more performances, then came the time to announce the winners. they called bronze, then silver, you were sure that there was no hope for you getting gold, so you tried to accept the fact you lost.
then, they announced the stats for the gold winner and you stood there blinking, your hands slowly rising to your face as the score flashed on the screen and your name popped up at the top. it made your stomach drop.
you stood in shock, it didn’t even feel real at first. your coach reached for you quickly, grabbing your shoulders and pulling you into a tight hug which made you snap back into reality, your face instantly flooded with happy tears.
after that it was all noise and flashes and movement again, flowers being handed to you, cameras getting too close, and people saying your name over and over trying to get your attention, it was overwhelming.
before you left you did a couple quick interviews and said your goodbyes to everyone, thanking your coach once again.
then finally, you were back in your hotel room with the city lights glowing faintly outside the window.
your medal sat on the bed beside you, you still couldn’t believe it. you picked up your phone, to a notification from your coach sending you some pictures from your performance.

after you hit post you set your phone down for a second like you always do after you post something.
you instantly picked it up again, impatient and nervous about what everyone is saying. you scrolled without thinking too hard, watching your name appear everywhere, edits already being posted, and congratulations from a bunch of people you had never met.
then you noticed something, gavi had liked your post. you stared at it for a moment, confused why he would like it. you figured since a couple of his teammates, including your brother, had reposted it, he probably just clicked and liked it for no reason.
you clicked on his profile, curious, only to see he had 19.4 million followers. you scrolled a bit and saw how passionate he was about soccer.
you also noticed that he always has that annoyed look in his face, even when taking a selfie. you smiled to yourself realizing maybe he wasn’t being intentionally rude to you.
you were still scrolling when your childhood bestfriend, kristiane, called you.
“holis my sunshine!” you heard her say through the phone, using your nickname.
“krispy! hii.” you smiled into the phone.
“you did fucking incredible, i’m so sorry i missed it.” she said softly.
“it’s okay, i know your job never lets you off. i’ll see you soon anyways.” you reassure her.
“can’t wait! also, are you talking to someone and haven’t told me yet!?” kristiane laughs into the phone.
you furrow your eyebrows, confused on what she’s talking about, “what, no? you know you’d be the first person i’d tell.”
“then what’s up with all these edits that keep popping up on my feed?” she says.
“what edits? send me one.” you put her on speaker and wait for her to send you a video.
“with one of your brothers teammates.” she sniffles, “i sent it.”
you quickly open the tiktok she sent and see a silly edit with taylor swifts song, “lover.” in the background.
“kristiane, i promise you there’s nothing going on.” you laugh in disbelief.
“mhm.” she says dragging out the word.
“i promise! he literally just liked my recent post and that was it. i don’t know how these people are so quick with it.” you sigh, closing the app.
“you know how those barca fans are though.” you can feel her smirking through the phone, “watch out for his crazy fan-girls y/n.”
“jesus christ.” you say letting out a soft laugh, “i’m gonna head to bed, i’ll deal with this tomorrow.”
“awe y/n it’s only been like five minutes,” she pouts, “but goodnight sunshine, sleep tight.”
“goodnight, love you.” you say while hanging up the phone.
you place your phone on low power mode and set it on the nightstand next to you, placing your gold medal right next to it.
then, you turn off the lamp and lay on your stomach, closing your eyes and falling asleep.

word count ~ 1.2K
You sat in the stands with your knees tucked up, arms folded across your chest, trying to look like someone who belonged. The crowd around you was restless, voices rising and falling in a thousand different rhythms, but your gaze was fixed on the field—on your brother, Pedro González. People always seemed to whisper when they saw you two together. Sometimes you’d catch the comments—“They must be dating, right?”—and roll your eyes so hard you’d get a headache. You’d corrected them so many times you’d lost count, but the rumours clung like static. Once, someone even muttered, “Keep it in the family, I guess,” and you’d had to swallow a wave of nausea. It was gross. Pedro was your brother—not your secret lover, not your forbidden crush—just your brother. Sure, he was attractive, but not to you. Not like that.
You tried to push the thought aside and focused on the game, your heart quickening as the play unfolded. Pedro was closing in on the goal, weaving between defenders with the kind of confidence that made you proud and a little bit envious. The stadium seemed to hold its breath. And then—he scored. The net rippled, and the stands erupted. You shot to your feet, hands cupped around your mouth as you screamed your brother’s name, your voice lost in the roar. Pedro threw his arms wide and celebrated with that ridiculous little dance he’d been doing since he was seven.
But as the game rolled on, your attention drifted. Your eyes kept finding one player—Pablo Gavi. He moved across the pitch with a kind of raw energy that made him impossible to ignore, like he was always on the verge of breaking into something wild. Most people called guys like him “handsome,” “hot,” “talented.” But for some reason, none of those words fit. Gavi was beautiful, and the thought startled you every time it crossed your mind. You’d catch yourself replaying little things about him—how his hair flopped over his forehead, the way he laughed with your brother, the intense focus in his eyes when he thought nobody was watching. You’d rambled about him to your friends more times than you cared to admit, but you always laughed it off. It was easier that way.
You forced yourself to look away as the other team took possession, but Gavi drew your gaze again a moment later, crashing into an opposing player with reckless abandon. They hit the ground hard, and then an argument exploded—gestures, shouting, faces red with anger and adrenaline. The ref flashed a yellow card at both of them, and you saw Gavi’s jaw clench. He stomped off the pitch as he got subbed out, anger radiating from him like heat.
You watched as Pedro jogged over to the sideline, gesturing toward the coach, Xavi, his face earnest and pleading. You couldn’t hear the words, but the answer was clear enough from Xavi’s tight shake of the head. Pedro looked frustrated, but then he turned to you, a plan forming in his eyes. Before you could even process what was happening, a staff member waved you down from the stands and led you behind the scenes. The air was thick with the smell of sweat, grass, and old liniment.
Pedro was waiting, breathless, as you emerged from the stairwell. “Y/N, can you calm Gavi down? Please.” He looked at you with desperation, a flicker of vulnerability you rarely saw from him.
“Why me? I barely know him,” you replied, voice low, confused and a little defensive.
Pedro hesitated, glancing around before leaning in. “Don’t tell anyone, not even Gavi, but... he likes you. He wouldn’t shut up about you for an entire week after he came over.” His eyes narrowed, half annoyed, half relieved.
Your mouth fell open, words caught in your throat. “Wait, really?”
Pedro winced. “I shouldn’t be saying this. Just... talk to him, okay?”
You sighed, letting the breath rattle in your chest. “Fine, I’m going,” you muttered, rolling your shoulders back as if you could armour yourself with determination.
Pedro gave you a quick kiss on the cheek, whispering a soft, “Thank you,” before darting back toward the field, leaving you to navigate the maze of corridors alone.
You paused outside the locker room door, nerves buzzing in your fingertips. You knocked, the sound echoing in the empty hall. “Gavi? Are you here?” You tried to keep your voice steady, but it trembled anyway.
“What?” His reply was sharp, brittle, like glass about to crack.
You hesitated. “Just checking if you’re okay.”
The door swung open, and there he was—shirtless, hair damp with sweat, eyes stormy and dark. He looked you up and down, his jaw tight, then yanked you inside and shut the door behind you with a soft click. The room felt suddenly smaller, the air thick with the scent of soap and adrenaline.
“See? I’m fine,” he snapped, crossing his arms over his chest like a shield.
You took a step back, searching his face. “You sure?” you asked, softer now, reading the tension in his posture.
“Yes! I’m fine, seriously!” he shouted, voice raw. But there was something behind his anger, a need for someone to see him, to stay, to not leave him alone with whatever storm was raging inside.
You lingered a moment longer, watching the way his hands shook just slightly. “Okay...” you said, not believing it for a second. You turned to leave, the disappointment heavy in your chest.
“Wait!” His voice cracked through the silence.
You turned, eyebrows raised. “What is it?”
Before you could react, his lips crashed into yours—warm, urgent, a little clumsy. For a heartbeat, you froze, shocked by the suddenness, then the realisation hit you like a wave. He was kissing you. Gavi was kissing you. You felt the world tilt and then right itself, as if this was the way things were always supposed to go.
He broke away too soon, eyes wide with fear. “Shit, I shouldn’t have... Pedro’s going to kill me,” he muttered, already backing away.
You caught his wrist, grounding him. “Pablo, he won’t.” You tried to sound sure, but your heart was pounding so loudly you couldn’t hear yourself think.
He looked at you, eyes searching, desperate for reassurance. “How do you know?”
You didn’t answer. Instead, you leaned in, pressing your lips to his. This time, he melted into it, arms winding around your waist, pulling you flush against him. Your hands found his neck, fingers threading through his hair, and the kiss deepened—soft and frantic all at once, as if you were both afraid to let go.
You were so lost in the moment you barely noticed the door creak open behind you, voices filtering in from the hallway. Gavi held you tighter, refusing to let you pull away, even as you tried to wriggle free, laughter bubbling in your chest.
A loud, exaggerated “Ahem” made you both freeze. You broke apart, cheeks burning, and turned to see the entire team clustered in the doorway, grinning like idiots. Pedro stood at the front, arms crossed, an exasperated smile tugging at his lips.
“Well, I guess he’ll be in a better mood now,” Pedro said, shaking his head. “But get ready—he won’t stop talking about you for days.”
You looked at Gavi, who was already blushing, and then at your brother, whose annoyance couldn’t hide how happy he was to see you smiling. For the first time all day, you let yourself believe that maybe, just maybe, everything was about to change.
summary: You're invited to your best friends wedding in which she told you to bring bring a plus one, but you ended up not doing so.... instead you met someone
warnings: first person pov, fluff!!, (asking for)consent, drinking (alcohol), reader is not from Spain (just knows a bit of the language, you don't need to tho), spanish phrases used, Gavi speaks good english (better than irl), he can dance - you not so much, teaches you basic bachata, oc friend group, not proofread!!
a/n: in celebration of the world cup and recently reading a fic about him and Pedri coincidentally, it brought be back to my hyperfixation from years ago 😫 so I felt like writing something hehe
I somehow always loved going to weddings. It's always so nice to see everyone's traditions and cultures clash on one another. Meeting new people and eating (and drinking) a lot is also a bonus.
But this one was special. My best friend, Julia, was getting married. I was so excited for it, I felt like I was the one getting in that white dress.
It was extra especial because she was marring a Spanish guy, Antonio, in Spain.
Of course, I know Antonio. He's a good guy. The best (for her). And since Julia doesn't have much family, but he does, they fairly decided to have the wedding in Spain.
I'm honestly not mad at all. I love the country and it's so much nicer there.
The flight and everything went well.
Since I am a maid of honor, I have some duties. Drinks and music is my thing so that's what Julia put me in charge for.
Hiring a pretty good DJ. One who plays songs that's totally their vibe and taste, so I just knew I had to book her.
Making sure all of their favourite drinks and popular cocktails will be available at the bar. And my favourite, for sure.
I did all that.
But what I didn't do was look for a plus one.
Was it the stress? Maybe. Or was it just the fact I didn't want to look for one and rather just go alone? Probably.
Whatever my reason was, Julia was pissed.
"I told you to bring someone. I wouldn't want you to drown in your planing," Julia eclaimed as she realised I came alone.
"But I am not. I planned everything perfectly," you explained defencless.
"I meant in drinking the whole night and dancing to the music."
"Now what is wrong with that?", you asked slightly shocked by that statement.
"Nothing. But it's sad to do alone," she emphizied.
I knew what she meant. Obviously I knew. But she still had to reason to rill up on it.
"Julia, it is your wedding day. I don't want you to be bothered by this tonight. And besides? I'd rather attend your wedding alone than with some random guy."
She finally came around and saw my point. With a deep sigh she nodded, fixing her dress as the hairdresser put her finishing touches to Julia's hair.
"Okay, fine. But you better mingle with Antonio's family and friends. I want you to meet them. Or new people in general. Just- no stupid stuff," she said the last bit pointing a finger at me.
I just laughed with a nod, "Okay. I will. Promise."
The reception was beautiful. I cried way to many times to let my makeup to stay in place. But I didn't care. I was obviously sitting on Julia's side which had to be shared with Antonio's friends. Most of them where Julia's friends by now as well.
But I obviously had no time to meet any of them. Just greeted the ones I knew. I knew I had time for that at the after-party anyway.
A beautiful location honestly. I remember the day Julia and Antonio showed me their options. I knew if they wouldn't be having their wedding there, I would. Not that I have a reason to have my wedding in Spain, but still.
Before everyone would arrive I and some other maid of honor's and best man made sure everything we individually organised was right. I talked to the DJ and bartenders back and forth, basically being in my element.
I heard people chatter in Spanish in the background but I had no clue what they were saying. I just curiously turned around to spot Antonio talk to, probably one of his best men.
Honestly, I was so in my own head I couldn't bother less.
Things started to being. People arriving. Gifts being placed at the gift table. Drinks getting handed out. Everything went smoothly.
After Julia changed to her backup dress she came over to me.
Vibing to the reggaeton and 90s-2000s hit tunes with a cocktail in my hand. Julia just laughed at me, shaking her head.
"You can't seem to listen to me for once, huh?"
My eyes widen immediately as I registered what she was saying. Shit.
"Shit, I was so in my own head-", I tried to explain myself but she gave me no chance.
"And you're done with that!", she said nudging my shoulder, "Finish that and then get out there."
Following Julia's gaze towards the dance floor my eyes widen again. I haven't realised how many people are out there. I guess more people came now than there where at the reception.
"Damn," I mumbled and she just laughed.
"You're gonna find someone to talk to."
I laughed, "Obviously, I will."
"Someone new," she added in a beat.
Sighing I nodded, "I get it. Fine."
With one last big sip I drowned my drink, placing the glass on the bar and shooting Julia a mean look and showing her my middle finger. All banter, of course.
"I love you too," she yelled after me as I vanished into the loud dancefloor.
I got lost in the crowd of people faster than thought. All new faces.
Until I saw one of Antonio's brothers, I luckily met way before. Simon.
"Simon! Finally a familiar face," I said laughing as I gave him a soft left and right cheek to cheek. A normal Spanish greeting I picked up around his family.
He returned the favour and smiled widely as he said my name, "Just say you missed me."
"Alright, maybe I did," I said sarcastically, rolling my eyes.
He sighed and nudged my shoulder. We kinda have a playful banter.
"So where is Alec?", I asked, curious to know where his boyfriend was.
"Oh, he's getting a drink. By the way, he will thank you for the cocktail options. He's obsessed."
I laughed as I nodded remembering the menu has some cocktails they like, "You are more than welcome. I thought about you two as I picked some options."
Simon dramatically put his hand on his chest, "Oh my god? Really? Now I feel flattered."
I laughed as I nodded, "Oh, you should."
"I guess I have to make the most of it and get a drink too then," he said as he already looked into the direction of the bar.
Chuckling I looked that way too. I know I just finished a drink but I was already thinking about drowning in another.
"Maybe you should... have fun," I just agreed, nudging into the direction.
"You're one of a kind. Go have some fun too," he put a hand on my shoulder and squeezed it.
I knew he meant well. And I knew he was right. Well so was Julia.
As soon as Simon went on to Alec, I sighed and turned to the DJ, making my way to her.
I figured I'd have to check on her too.
Dancing my way through the crowd, I couldn't even get to the front before someone brutally bumped into me.
I lost my balance faster than I could safe myself.
Before I knew, I fell into someone's arms before I could hit the ground.
Instinctively I shut my eyes expecting a hard and rough ground landing. But feeling soft arms wrapped around me, people gasping and cheering, I finally heard a soft voice talk to me.
"Ay, todo bien? Are you alright?"
I carefully opened my eyes, as everything hit me.
Shit, he is cute. I thought as my eyes adjusted to the light again.
"Uh- yeah. I am fine. Thanks to you," I said as I tried my best to stay collected.
He just laughed and nodded, "Yeah, you basically fell for me."
His Spanish accent was thick, but I noticed he was trying his best. And it made me swoon even more.
Laughing nervously, not really sure if the double meaning in his words were intentional, I noticed he was still holding me, so I got up.
"You could say so," I just bluntly said, not really thinking.
He was almost disappointed that I got up so quick but he covered it up, "I'm Pablo. Most people call me Gavi though. A short form from my last name."
Smiling I told him my name. He softly repeated my name and hearing it in his accent made me almost fall again.
"I'm sorry for falling on you, someone pushed me and everything happened so fast," I tried my best to excuse myself but he would barely let me.
"It's okay. It's not your fault. And you are not hurt, so that's all that matters," he said with a lopsided grin.
"Yeah, thank you again," I added, nodding, as I slightly took his appearance in. It made me realise he was one of Antonio's best man.
"It's my pleasure," he added before doing the same. Probably realising I was Julia's maid of honor as well.
"Wait- were you one of Antonio's-", I couldn't even finish before he agreed.
"Yes. I am his best friend. And you were one of Julia's-", I cut him off too now.
"Yes. I am her best friend."
As we both realised what we were saying we started laughing and smiling like two maniacs.
"What a coincidence," I laughed out as we both came back to our senses.
"Yeah. So crazy," he easily agreed.
For a moment it got quiet between us, the music and chatter being heard again but I didn't want that. I rather spoke up again.
"Hey- uhm- can I buy you a drink? Like a thank you for saving me?"
He chuckled and nodded, "Aren't the drinks for free anyway?"
Shit. I almost forgot. But I played it cool with a giggle, "Ugh, you know what I mean." Waving my hand dismissively.
Pablo had a wide smirk on his face as he nodded, "Yeah, I know."
I sighed in relief and with a wide smile I nodded towards the bar, "Shall we?"
With a smile and nod he followed close behind. The crowd was thick and almost wanted to separate us. In the heat of the moment I extended my hand and he took a hold of it so we couldn't loose each other.
I felt my cheeks immediately redden but I just looked straight ahead to the bar. Getting closer to it the crowd got smaller, but we continued holding hands just until we stopped in front of it.
Carefully letting go, I turned around to look at him. I prayed my cheeks were a less redder shade by now.
"So what can I get you?", I offered playfully as I gestured towards the menu that was written down on a small chalkboard on top of the bar.
He smirked faintly as he got closer and examined it.
"Hmm, so many good options to chose from."
His face showed how concentrated he looked at the menu.
"I know. I picked them."
His eyes widen as he turned his head to look at me.
"You?", he sounded surpried.
"Yes, me. 's that so hard to believe?", I replied in a mock sassy tone, crossing my arms over my chest.
"No- no-", Gavi tried to correct me, "...not that. I just- expected Pepé to be in charge of it."
I know him. That's Antonio's cousin. He is a few years older but they are super close. He basically is with his whole family. That's why I know most of them.
I get why he would have thought that. Pepé drinks a bear every day. But that's just it. Sure, the dude can tell you which beer tastes the best and why and how it was brewed and stuff.
That's why the newly wedded couple wouldn't want him in charge for that.
"If that would have been the case, you would have gotten San Miguel and some other beers only," I said very sure of it as I leaned my back against the bar and uncrossed my arms.
He seemed to agree as he laughed, nodding and shook his pointy finger up and down at me. Like I got Pepé all figured out.
"You got that right," he looked back at the menu, seriously scanning that thing.
After a while I started to get impatient, "Don't you like the options?"
You could tell he was caught off guard by that assumption, "What?- No- I just- I'm not really a drinker and I had to read what each one contains-"
I suddenly felt like an asshole. Just assuming. Damned.
"Oh- I'm sorry- I mean.. you can tell me what you wanna try and I can give you my recommendation," I suggested with a smile.
He immediately stood up straight and looked at me curiously, "Really? That's nice. Thank you"
I blamed myself for coming alone today but dammit this guy got me blushing.
"Oh, it's no biggy," I replied before asking him stuff for what he wanted to try. Narrowing it down as the conversation progressed I eventually picked something for him and myself.
As we waited for our drinks the conversation flowed easily.
Eventually the drinks did too. We were so lost in conversation, time went by quickly.
Ordering one drink after the other we kept talking about all sort of things. How I met Julia and how he met Antonio. Embarrassing stories of the two and so much more.
As we were at our fourth drink the conversation slowed. Both of us looked at the bar just before Gavi spoke up.
"Soo..," Gavi started as he turned to look at me again.
"Who's your plus one?"
"I don't have one," I carefully replied after looking at him too.
I'm not sure if I was imagining it but something between us changed.
"Oh," he mumbled, trying his best to stay in tact, "me neither."
His addition made me curious, "Why not?"
He scoffed, taking another sip of his drink, "I could ask you the same."
I nodded taking a sip too, "Well... I'm single and since I don't want to bring a random guy to my best friends wedding I thought I'd just go alone."
Telling him all that felt so easy. Maybe because talking to him was easy. Or we could just blame it on the alcohol.
It almost seemed like he was relieaved or at least really pleased by that piece of information.
"I guess there is more we have in common than we thought."
Understanding what he meant I grinned slyly and nodded, "I guess we do."
Taking another sip of my drink I kept looking at him. It was tender but not too much. Looking away before placing the drink down.
"Thank you for the drink recommendations," he said holding his glass up and taking another sip.
I couldn't help but chuckle and nod, "You are welcome. Thank you for trying them all."
Laughing he waved his hand dismissively, "It's nothing."
We both are drinking our fourth drink by now and the alcohol is really getting to my head. Making me a bit more giggly. Which showed in response to his reaction.
[Recommended to listen to Imitadora by Romeo Santos from now on]
Drowning the last bit of my drink I got up and held my hand out to him, "Shall we dance?"
I had no clue what has gotten into me but all I knew what I should enjoy the dance floor a bit more.
Pablo genuinely seemed surprised but the alcohol seemed to get the better of him too, making him empty his drink and get up too.
"I can't say no to that," he agreed as he took my hand and followed me to the dance floor.
The room was still pretty filled with people dancing to the Spanish tunes playing. And I loved it.
Neither of us wanted to let go. Certainly he wouldn't let me. Holding my hand he pulled me in to talk into my ear. The feeling giving me goosebumps.
"You know bachata?", he asked looking at me.
I was familiar with the dance but I had no clue on how to dance it. So I shook my head, "No."
Oddly enough he seemed to like that, "Can I teach you?"
Suddenly, I froze for a moment just before nodding, letting him lead me to the music.
Carefully he moved my left hand on his right shoulder. His right hand resting underneath my left shoulder blade. We were still holding hands so he carefully moved them up, our elbows in a almost 45 degrees angle. Stepping a bit closer he grinned at me.
"Is this ok?", Pablo asked for permission.
"Yes," I only got to whisper my reply.
"Good... ahora- now.. just follow me," he said as he started moving his feet to the rhythm, guiding me through it.
"Left foot left, right foot following, left again, right foot just a tap and up with the right side of your hip as you do so," he explained as he moved with me.
He smiled as we continued, doing the steps back and fort. Halfway through the song I started to get the hang of it without him having to guide me with his words.
"You're doing it. You're a natural," he praised me probably more happy about that fact than I was myself.
I couldn't help but blush, "I had a great teacher." Obviously I had to praise him back.
Playfully he rolled his eyes, obviously not able to take a compliment. Since he was blushing too he had to hide it with spinning me.
The move was so sudden, I didn't expected it, so as he spun me back in I lost my balance and basically collapsed on him. Both of my hands planned on his chest.
My eyes widen in surprise, him mirroring me but we both started laughing right away.
"A warning would have been nice," I said as my laughter slowly died, my eyes narrowing down to his lips without even realising.
As I heard him swallow and saw him softly wet his lips, I registered what was happening my eyes shut up to see him look at me with that look. It had to mean something.
Abruptly I pulled back, but he wouldn't let me, holding me by my wrist.
"It's okay," he whispered to me as he looked at my lips and then back up to my eyes.
Shit. My mind started spinning as I registered what was happening. Before I could say or do anything else me did.
"Can I kiss you?"
I stood there, my hands on his chest, his hands holding my wrists as we looked at each other, knowing damn well how bad we want this.
Nodding softly I already moved my face closer, "Yes."
Within a beat he got closer to finally close that gab between us. Kissing me so softly as our lips touch.
I was so overwhelmed that I didn't kiss him back at first, which made him pulled back to look at me. Doubt written over his face but I would let him question me. Therefore I closed the gab again.
Gavi kissed back immediately making this kiss more heated and deeper than before. His hands moved from my wrist, one holding my hip and the other the back of my head. Mine just went around his neck.
The kiss felt eternal, lasting for a bit just before we pulled back out of breath.
"Damn."
"Coño."
We simultaneously mumbled, meaning literally the same thing. Being so in sync made us laugh.
Carefully he brushed a strand of hair behind my ear, looking at me like I was the only one here.
"You're so beautiful," he said as we made eye contact.
My stomach twisted at his words, simply because everything started to feel so real. Like it just now clicked that I actually like him. Like really like him.
It just everything now clicked that I not only want to spent the whole night with him but every other night too. Wanting to know all of him.
I think that realization hit me so hard that it changed my expression. It got Pablo all worried.
"What's wrong?", he asked all worried.
Swallowing I had to clear my throat, "Uh- nothing... I just- realised-"
Pausing I tried of a plausible way to ask him. Patiently he waited.
"I wanna get to know you better. Spend time with you more."
"Like a couple?", he immeditly asked.
His straight forwardness was refreshing honestly.
Nodding softly, "Yeah... exactly like a couple."
Pablo scoffed as a smile spread his face, "I would like that... maybe I could take you out tomorrow?"
Laughing I nodded, "Straight to it, huh?... I would love that."
"Great," he said with a giggle as he hugged me tight.
I couldn't believe the night I had. Not only did my best friend marry the love of her life, but I also met this amazing, fun, handsome and sweet guy who happens to be my best friends husband's best friend.
a/n: rushed ending but I hope y'all can forgive me🙏🏼
Can you please do more something for Gavi where everyone is at a team barbecue for dinner at raphas and Keyne, miles, Gael, Anna and Laura etc. are all there playing together and Gavi basically has major baby fever the whole time!
baby fever
pairing: pablo gavi x reader
summary: in which pablo gets baby fever watching you play with his teammate's kids
warnings: none!
a/n: i couldn't stop myself from writing the little bonus part and i also have baby fever now...
the sun melts like honey across the grass.
it’s late afternoon, the kind of lazy golden hour that makes everything feel slow and a little unreal. the sky is blushed with heat, music drips soft and low from the speaker tucked near the pool, and the air smells like sunscreen, charcoal, and someone’s cologne carried in the breeze.
you’re stretched across a blanket under a wide tree, warm skin pressed against the earth, surrounded by chaos in miniature form.
gael is curled against your hip like a sleepy kitten, sticky fingers wrapped tight around your dress. miles is in your lap, chewing on something that might’ve once been a cracker, humming a nonsense tune while you stroke his hair. keyne is spinning in circles just beside you, dizzy and giggling, arms outstretched like he’s about to fly.
you can feel the sun on your collarbone. your drink is sweating in your hand. mikky, taia, and laura are lounging beside you, soft and content, the kind of calm that only comes when the kids are entertained and no one’s currently crying.
"you’ve got a fan," mikky murmurs, glancing over the rim of her sunglasses.
you hum, not really listening.
"no," taia adds, grinning, "you’ve got a worshipper."
you follow their gaze across the yard, past the grill and the long table full of empty plates and laughter, to where pablo is standing with his beer half-forgotten in one hand, head tilted, eyes soft and full and stuck on you.
he’s not even pretending to be subtle.
he’s standing there, shirt a little wrinkled, curls slightly damp from the pool, sun touching the line of his jaw—and he’s looking at you like you’re something holy. like you hung the stars, then bent down and kissed the tops of three toddlers’ heads just for fun.
your lips curve. “he’s staring.”
“he’s in love,” laura sings, low and amused.
“he’s having a full mental breakdown,” mikky whispers, watching him blink slowly, totally unaware of the teasing happening in real time.
from across the yard, ferran catches pablo’s expression and nearly chokes on his drink.
“hermano, breathe.”
lamine’s already laughing. “he’s thinking of baby names already”
“he’s gone,” frenkie says, clapping him on the shoulder. “like… wedding ring in the pocket gone.”
pablo doesn’t say anything. he just keeps watching you, arms full of sunlight and someone else’s baby, laughing softly at something keyne said that made no sense at all. the kind of laugh that makes your shoulders shake gently, that makes miles look up at you with wide, adoring eyes.
it’s stupid. and simple. and it knocks the wind right out of his lungs.
he comes over eventually, barefoot and flustered and acting like he just happened to be passing by, even though everyone knows he’s been waiting for an excuse to get closer.
he drops down onto the blanket beside you, all warm limbs and quiet awe, and lets miles climb instantly into his lap like it’s muscle memory.
“hi,” you say, soft and teasing, brushing a leaf out of his hair.
“hi,” he breathes back, eyes locked on yours. “you’re gonna kill me.”
you raise a brow. “because i’m covered in applesauce?”
“because you look like this,” he says, voice like warm velvet. “like you were made for it.”
your fingers curl gently around his. “for what?”
“this,” he whispers, eyes flicking down to where miles is dozing against his chest. “you. little ones. sunshine. soft days. i want it all with you.”
your throat catches. the kids are babbling again. someone starts the playlist over. and still—his words sit heavy and sweet in your stomach like honey.
“you’ve got baby fever,” you say softly, biting back a smile.
“no,” he murmurs. “i’ve got you fever.”
you blink. then laugh, head tipped back, the sound like wind chimes in the summer.
pablo leans in, lazy and golden and glowing, his mouth brushing the curve of your shoulder. “say the word and i’ll build you a nursery tomorrow.”
you hum. “what if i just want a nap and a snack?”
“that can be step one,” he grins, nuzzling into your neck.
miles shifts slightly in his arms. keyne plops down beside you with a dramatic sigh. gael’s small hand finds yours and curls around it, sticky and warm.
and suddenly, the world feels a little slower. a little softer.
you look at pablo—so full of something tender you don’t have a name for—and press your forehead to his.
“you’d be a good dad,” you whisper.
his lashes flutter. “say it again.”
“you’d be a really good dad, pablo.”
he smiles then—crooked and glowing, like you just gave him the moon.
and somewhere across the yard, fermin yells, “you two making babies over there or just planning it?”
you don’t even flinch. pablo just kisses your cheek.
and you—cradling sunshine and chaos and a boy who’s already halfway yours—just smile.
bonus:
the house is quiet now.
not silent—never that, not with three under-fives asleep (or almost asleep) somewhere in the vicinity—but quiet in the way that feels full. like something soft breathing under your skin.
the team barbecue faded hours ago. the sun dipped behind the trees, and slowly the backyard laughter gave way to yawns, half-finished desserts, and sleepy kisses goodbye. the others left one by one, until it was just you, pablo, and three very overstimulated toddlers crashing from their sugar highs.
somehow, you offered to stay the night and babysit. somehow, pablo said yes before you even finished the sentence.
now you’re both sitting on the living room floor—barefoot and pajama-soft—amid a nest of pillows and crumpled blankets, half-buried in baby wipes, storybooks, and a plastic sippy cup that no one can seem to locate.
miles is curled against pablo’s chest, thumb in his mouth, breathing slow and heavy. pablo’s shirt is slightly damp from a bottle incident, but he doesn’t seem to care. he’s swaying gently, back pressed against the couch, whispering something low and sweet in spanish that you can’t quite make out.
“you’re doing so well,” you murmur, kneeling beside him, brushing curls off his forehead.
he looks up at you, and god—his eyes are sleepy, golden, full of something so tender it makes your throat ache.
“he’s perfect,” pablo whispers, like it’s a secret. “they all are.”
you glance over. keyne is finally asleep in the playpen you dragged into the room, one sock off, a toy car clutched in his fist. gael is draped across the loveseat, one leg hanging dramatically over the armrest like a tiny exhausted king.
you sink onto the floor beside pablo, leaning your head on his shoulder. his arm shifts, settles around you without needing to think. miles stirs, sighs, settles.
“i don’t know how mikky and taia do this every night,” you whisper.
pablo hums. “they’re superheroes.”
you’re quiet for a beat. the lamp in the corner casts everything in gold. the air smells like lavender bubble bath and faint traces of barbecue smoke from the open kitchen window.
“you think we could do it?” you ask, almost too soft to hear.
he doesn’t even hesitate. “yes.”
your breath catches. “you didn’t even let me finish the question.”
“didn’t have to.” he turns slightly, careful not to wake miles. “you mean us. this. babies and bottles and falling asleep in the middle of the living room.”
you nod, throat tight.
“yeah,” he says again, quieter now. “i want that with you.”
his fingers find yours under the blanket. slow. warm. familiar.
“you sure?” you tease gently. “what if they all end up like keyne? he made me eat a leaf this morning.”
pablo grins, lazy and full of adoration. “then we’ll eat leaves together.”
you laugh, muffled into his shoulder. “you’re ridiculous.”
“i’m yours,” he corrects, lips brushing your temple.
and it’s true. in every sleepy, sticky, love-drenched way that counts—he is. completely. without question.
outside, the wind shifts through the trees. inside, the soft sounds of breathing, the warmth of pablo’s hand, the steady weight of miles tucked between you like he belongs there.
maybe he does. maybe someday, a few more little ones that do belong there. that are part of you both.
but for now—just this.
just pablo’s heartbeat under your cheek, the quiet hum of the night, the almost-whispered promise in the way he holds you close.
like he already knows.

Summary: What does a red string on my finger mean? Why did a red string appear on my finger? Is a red string bad?
~~(^Pinterest/funny asf)
Walking into the paddock was second nature at this point, so why did it suddenly feel so different? You’ve walked into hundreds of race weekends, and still, this is the time you felt something off. Maybe not bad, but it definitely did not feel good.
You walked in beside your brother and cousin through the gates and through the crowd of people trying to get Carlos’ attention. You stood back with your cousin as the Williams admin walked up to ask him a few questions as he walked toward the hospitality.
“Do you know his schedule for the day?” You asked your cousin Carlos after bumping into him with your right arm. “Anything fun?”
“Not fun for you,” He chuckled before pulling out his phone and scrolling. “He has a driver’s meeting soon, a few team meetings, and an appearance with one of the football teams.”
“Oh, which one?” This piqued your interest a bit, given that you preferred one team and that your entire family lived, breathed, and died with Real Madrid.
“Barcelona,” He sneered, and you immediately rolled your eyes.
“We’re in Barcelona. I would assume their players come out for a big event,” You chuckled. “Just wait until Madrid, and you will see your precious boy crushes then, I’m sure of it.”
You had a feeling of something tagging on your finger, so you pulled yourself closer to cousin Carlos, thinking someone was walking past you. No one was there. You looked around, and that’s when you noticed a faint red string surrounded by a golden, glittery light leading into the paddock. You looked down, and the string was attached to your ring finger. You scrunched up your nose before holding your finger up to cousin Carlos.
“Is this your new way of flipping me off?” He chuckled, pushing your hand away before following after Carlos, who was finally able to head into hospitality.
“No, it’s…” You trailed off, looking at the string that led behind you. “Don’t you see it? The string?”
“The string? No,” he replied dismissively as Carlos rejoined your conversation when you got to his driver’s room in hospitality.
“What string?” He asked, putting his bag down and flopping down onto the chair.
“She said she saw a string or something,” Your cousin told him as he rolled his eyes. “Probably something on my jacket or something.”
“Stop talking about me like I’m not here,” You snapped after your cousin sat in front of your brother, and the two laughed you off. “And it is real! I’m looking right at it! How do neither of you see it? It’s so bright.”
“Then go follow it,” your brother said, waving a dismissive hand at you. “We have to talk about this strategy. I’ll meet up with you later.”
“Fine, I’ll show you,” You muttered as you stomped over to the door before turning quickly towards Carlos’ bag and grabbing some money from his wallet, “I’m taking money for food though.”
Neither Carlos answered you before you were walking out of Carlos’ room and through the Williams hospitality. The string led you through the main lobby area, through some of the sponsored areas, and all the way out of the hospitality area. You followed it all the way out to the main paddock and near the garages.
“Where are you taking me…” You said under your breath as you continued following it, holding your wrist as you stared intently at your ring finger and the extending string. There were times it got brighter, times where it got fainter, even a time where the string itself almost disappeared.
Those were the times you stopped dead in your tracks and turned around.
After a couple of hours just aimlessly following this string, you decided to take a break. You found a little place that had good smelling food, and found a shaded picnic table to sit at. Surprising that it was completely open for midday in a busy paddock. You pulled out your phone and started frantically googling things as you started eating.
What does a red string on my finger mean?
Why did a red string appear on my finger?
Is a red string bad?
“Ay, excuse me?” A voice from above you said, Someone you immediately recognized as Pedri from FC Barcelona. “Do you mind if we sit with you? There’s no other tables.”
“Oh, sure,” You responded, moving your stuff to be closer to you. Pedri waved a few guys from the team over, namely Lamine, Fermin, Hector, and Pau. “Is that enough space for you lot?”
“We’ll make it work,” Lamine chuckled before introducing himself, creating a domino for the rest of them to introduce themselves. At the end, you introduced yourself. “Sainz? Like the driver?”
“Yeah, he’s my brother,” You admitted, sliding your phone into your pocket. “Also, I know who you all are. I do watch football, but my family is Real Madrid fans.”
“And what are you?” Another voice from behind you said, and you turned your head to see Gavi standing with a bunch of food stacked, assuming it was for the rest of his teammates. “What team do you follow?”
You admitted what team you follow before adding, “But I just really love the sport. Football is probably my favorite sport.”
“Not Formula 1?” He laughed as he took the seat right next to you.
“I find it really boring,” You shrugged. “Unless you’re in a top team, and that top team is locked in, it’s just too predictable. I like the feeders or American series more.”
“How does your brother feel about that?” Hector laughed as he grabbed one of the wrapped tacos from Gavi’s tray.
“He’s more hurt that I don’t like Madrid despite being from there,” You chuckled, taking a bite of your own taco. As you went to take a bite, you caught a glimpse of your - now yellow - string, connecting you to none other than the right hand of the footballer right beside you.
Pablo Gavi.
You thought you hid your shock well, but Pau, being the one sitting directly across from you, noticed you freeze, and your eyes drift slowly to the side.
“Oh, what did he do?’ Pau chuckled before jumping to his own conclusions. “Does he smell? I told you to put more deodorant on, Gavi!”
“What did I do?” He asked as he handed out more food to Lamine and Fermin when his eyes stopped on his right hand. Similar to your reaction, he stopped at your left hand. He seemed to have snapped out of it on his own, leaning closer to you to ask, “Can I try something?”
“Sure,” You whispered back, and he grabbed your hand in his. The string turned from yellow to green before disappearing, and it felt like everything clicked. “Did you feel that?”
“Feel that? Did you see that?” He gasped, looking between you and your intertwined hands in shock. “Where did that even go?”
“The string? You saw it too?” You breathed in sharply. “I thought I was going insane.”
“No, definitely not,” He replied quickly, bringing a hand up to caress the side of your face. “I’ve been seeing it since we got here this morning. They all thought I was crazy when I said I wanted to follow a red string.”
“Ew, you just met, and you’re already making moves,” Lamine teased as he and a couple of the guys fake gagged.
“Leave him alone!” Pedri, ever the one to come to Gavi’s defense, complained to the rest of their team. “He’s clearly in love!”
“Who’s in love?” Carlos, your brother, asked as he came up to lean against the picnic table. “Who are all of you?”
“Oi, shut up, Carlos,” You groaned, turning to face him, “You’re the one that told me to chase the red string. Well, I found the end of it, and now it’s green. Also, Google said it was a soulmate thing.”
“Soulmates don’t exist. You’re just naive,” He rolled his eyes at you.
“Or you’re just lonely and haven’t met your soulmate,” You snapped back. “I’m tired of playing second in your life, so let me make my own mistakes if I must. I get it, you’re my protective older brother, but I need to make my own path sometimes.”
“It’s not about that,” Carlos sighed before dropping his head, “Eres mi hermana menor y él es de Barcelona (You are my younger sister, and he is from Barcelona).”
“Los Palacios y Villafranca en realidad (actually),” Gavi spoke up, and Carlos sent him the harshest glare known to man.
“¿Tienes ganas de morir? (Do you want to die?),” You asked, turning to him with your jaw dropped. “Callar, yo me encargo de esto (Shut up, I’ll take care of this).”
“I love how they’re talking like we don’t also know Spanish…” Pau whispered, quite loudly, to Hector, and suddenly, Pau was on the receiving end of the glare.
“Carlos, please,” You sighed, closing your eyes briefly. “What can I say for you to let me live my life?”
“Just promise me you’ll be safe.”
“No, I’ll run out on the race track later before streaking at the World Cup,” You replied sarcastically. A couple of the boys laughed - including Gavi, much to Carlos’ dismay, but god, did you want to hear it on repeat.
Was this an effect of the soulmate thing? Probably.
A/N: no one asked for this but lord have mercy the photos from today had me heavy breathing
“Gavi, remember to behave yourself.”
“But I haven’t even-“
Ansu put a finger to his lips, eradicating whatever the end of that sentence was going to be.
“We’re about to go in for medical exams and the doctor is your girlfriend. Now I know you’re still pumped full of all your raging teenage hormones-“
“Ansu!”
“-but please, hermano. There cameras literally everywhere. So I’m begging you: behave.”
Gavi crossed his arms over his bare chest, pouting slightly at being scolded in front of the other boys. It was no secret that he was madly in love with his physiotherapist/girlfriend, but it never deterred the boys from teasing him incessantly. His injury over the last year had made things tough. She was at training more than he was, coming home with stories about practice drills and player banter that made his chest pang. He shook the thoughts from his head as he was called in to have his measurements taken.
Gavi shuffled into the room, white socks gliding against the floor. He fiddled with the bandage on his arm from the blood draw. He wished for a second that he could be childish, pull he is girl away from all her responsibilities and have a hand to hold while someone stabbed him with a needle. But he knew that now, close to graduating from her program and becoming lead physio, his girl was running the entire operation. So he was happy to just stand there, wide eyed and slack jawed watching his perfect girlfriend concentrate on something flashed across a computer screen.
Eventually, she felt a searing gaze burn holes into the dip of her back, and turned around to see her shirtless boyfriend biting his lip and smiling like an idiot. She suppressed her own grin, grabbing his file and her clipboard.
“Mr. Gavira - ready to be examined?”
There was a playfulness in her voice that, when mixed with her raised eyebrow and overwhelming stare, made Pablo blush.
“Of course, doctora. And please, take your time. Absolutely no need to rush.”
There was a light giggle bouncing around the room before she sat Pablo down, blood pressure cuff tight on his arm. Her fingers grazed his bicep, lingering longer than would be appropriate for any other player.
“Those scrubs look great on you, doctora.”
“Don’t act like you didn’t pick them out for me this morning, Pablo. Uncross your feet so that I can get a proper reading of your blood pressure.”
He spread his legs in the chair, shorts riding up his muscular thighs. He sat back in the chair, getting lost in watching his favorite person in the world fiddle with a blood pressure cuff.
“Any other players give you complements on the scrubs?”
“No Pablo - there is no one on this team suicidal enough to flirt with me or pay me a compliment while you’re here. Poor Lamine was scared to take off his shirt. He kept looking around expecting you to walk in.”
You tapped him on the arm, instructing him to stand for his height and weight measurement. He stood on the mark, and as she adjusted the piece above his head, he couldn’t help himself from wrapping an arm around her waist. He pulled her into himself, planting a quick kiss to her temple before she should pull away.
“Gavi!”
“What?”
“We’re at work!”
“Come on - no one is going to scold me. I’m poor Gavi with the bad knee.” He finished his sentence with a pout, big puppy dog eyes making him look younger than his already mere 19 years.
“Yes yes, poor little Gavi and his busted knee. I, however, am not an asset to club or country. Hansi will scold me in three languages if we get caught making out in here.
“Wait,” he turned his head swiftly, arms back around her waist. “Making out is an option?? Why didn’t you tell me.” His laughter disguised the sound of her lightly smacking his chest. She grabbed her clipboard again, and placed the metal piece gently on his head.
“173 cm. Tsk tsk Pablo - still as small as last year.”
He smiled at his girl, amusement painting his every feature.
“I don’t remember size ever being an issue for you, doctora. I’m still taller than you.”
“By like 10 cm. That’s not a lot.”
She took down his weight, and then grabbed the tape measure to start assessing specific areas of his body.
“Of course you would say 10 cm is not a lot. Since you’re used to 15 cm daily.” He earned another smack to the chest.
“Pablo!”
“Or maybe it’s 20? Maybe we should find out since you already have the measuring tape ready.” He suggested while his fingers played with the waistband of his shorts. She grabbed his wrist in fear, terrified of what Gavi was willing to do in a close room.
He laughed loudly, bringing both hands to cup his girl’s face. He felt the warmth of her cheeks on his palms, and her flustered state gave him a squeezing feeling in his chest. He brought his forehead to hers, waiting until she met his eyes.
“Don’t worry. I’m not going to whip it out here in the medical room. No matter how much you may want it.”
She laughed gladly, fears subsiding and chest feeling lighter after Gavi’s light touch. She grabbed the measuring tape and began. She started with his neck, saying her measurements out loud before jotting them down on the form.
“Chest is 94 cm. Bigger than last year.”
Her fingers traced downwards, leaving heat on Gavi’s skin as they got to his hips.
“Hips are 81.5. Same as last year.”
Next, she traced across his collar bone and down his arm, tapping to silently tell him to flex his bicep.
“Biceps are- holy.”
“That’s not a number, preciosa.”
“Biceps are 43 cm. Ehem, bigger than last year. By a lot.”
The doctor tried to stabilize her slight tremble as she wrote down the measurements. She tried to calm herself, but something about Gavi’s new, fuller physique was making professionalism almost impossible. Gavi, the little shit, flexed his biceps again, pleased with the reaction he could evoke.
“Lift up your shorts, Gavi.”
“Don’t you mean pull down?”
“Are you okay, Pablo? You’re hornier than usual today. Do I need to get a spray bottle?”
“Surgeon called me today and cleared me for more vigorous activities. Want to help me follow the doctor’s orders?”
She got on her knees, wrapping the tape measure around his thigh.
“Thighs are 61 cm. Smaller than last year. You’ll need to work on that.”
“I had my ACL repaired.”
“Pshh excuses excuses.”
She finished her measurements, taking other important vitals and making sure to ask him all the medical clearance questions.
“What time are you finished today, Pablo?”
“2 pm. They don’t want us out for too long in the heat. How many guys are left?”
“About 6. I’ll probably be done before you, so I can go home and make lunch.”
He grabbed her by the waist, pulling her into him.
“No no, wait for me. We’ll leave together and go get food. You’ve had a hard day, let me treat you.”
“Every day is a hard day at work.”
He kept one arm around your shoulders as you walked him to the door.
“Then I’ll treat you every day. See you later, princesa.”
He hugged you into his side, and scampered off to the practice field. Neither Gavi nor his lady noticed the social media intern in the hall, who was quick to snap a picture of your embrace. The image of Gavi hugging his physiotherapist into his side and smiling from ear to ear set the internet into a flurry of comments.
