I love thinking about pre-relationship poly-losers. Especially when they obliviously act like theyre in a relationship already and are genuinely confused when “outsiders” give them funny looks.
- like how there seems to be a different Loser wearing Mike’s letterman jacket every week. The handsome “Hanlon” jacket is like the village bicycle - everyone gets a turn.
- how Stanley is always absently fixing different Loser’s clothing and hair cause it will annoy him if he doesn’t (and just maybe he enjoys the little touches) - he literally does the licking-his-thumb-to-help-tuck-a-stray-curl-away thing
- how someone always seems to be holding Beverly’s hand. Is she the one grabbing their hands or is it just a natural magnetism that she has? Either way her hand is always being held and she enjoys playing with her boys fingers.
- how Eddie never misses an opportunity to jump on someone’s back for a free ride when he is feeling lazy (he feels lazy often)
- how they all love on Ben whenever he places in a track meet. At first glance it just looks like 7 teenagers hopping around and cheering in a big group hug, but if you watch carefully you will see that Ben usually gets at least 4 kisses to his cheek from different people - sometimes he even gets 6!
- how Bill always seems to have extra money in case someone forgot their lunch. Sometimes he’ll just buy extra anyway and just casually push it over to a token Loser at lunch time - its always that Loser’s favourite.
- how Richie has gotten into the habit of calling them all the love of his life. Whether he is shouting it in the school hallways (”FUCK OFF SHITSTAIN! THATS THE LOVE OF MY LIFE YOURE BADMOUTHING!”) or just casually greeting one of them (”Mikey, baby, love of my life! I haven’t seen you in ears and ears but I still nose ya!”). But like, its all of them. Its never just one person.
i have to thank @okayuhhyikes because their post inspired this stream of consciousness.
