And with that, the 2026 season Heihua Gift Exchange comes to an end!

Before anything else, thank you to all the lovely and creative people who participated and made this exchange possible! We're glad to have been able to organize this event for the second year in a row, and to have had as many participants both signed up and not!

As the mod team firmly believes in the idea of fandom as a community where everyone's voice has equal weight, with that in mind, we provided a feedback form to give both participants and non-participants in last year's Heihua Exchange an opportunity to voice their honest opinions on what they felt went well, what didn't and/or what could be improved on.

In that same vein, we're back again to request 5 minutes of your time with another feedback form for the 2026 edition!

Our aim as a mod team is to keep improving to make the participant (and non-participant) experience in Heihua-related events as enjoyable as possible, therefore your individual feedback is incredibly valuable, whether positive or negative, most especially when it can be difficult to gauge how something has been received when there is little to no visible discussion about on-going events that we can discern. Ideally, we encourage anyone who has any suggestions, questions, or concerns to come to us with them directly whether in DMs, or on any public platform such as Tumblr or Discord. However, these—entirely anonymous—feedback forms exist to give you the opportunity all the same.

If you participated this year, please let us know what you did or didn't like, what you believe can be improved upon, or any suggestions you have for next year! If you didn't participate but would like to, you're also welcome to let us know the reason and/or what you believe could be changed in future!

HOW DOES OUR BADGE SYSTEM WORK?

A little surprise we've been waiting to reveal!

In order to make things more fun for everyone, as well as encourage engagement and interaction within the fandom community (both for those participating in the events themselves, but also for those looking at the event curiously from the outside), we've decided to implement a badge system in the events we'll be organizing. We hope this can make everyone's experience here in the DMBJ fandom a little more fun, as well as inspire and encourage you creatively!

What on earth is a badge?

A badge is a small, simple graphic like the ones you can see above, created by our very talented Mod Mouse (@thatlittlemouse) ! They will be awarded not only on the basis of participation (signed-up or not) in any Heihua events we run, but also for engaging with these events in various other fun ways.

Badges will be distributed within one week after the event is finished. Participation and Pinch-hitter badges will be sent out through email, on the email that each participant has signed-up with to the event. The rest of the badges will be announced and handed-out—so to speak—through a tumblr post here on our account.

But how does one get a badge? Simple! If you fit the criteria for a badge, then you get it! The badges we're rolling out so far are the following:

Participant Badge: Congratulations on completing your assignment! Everyone who signed-up and completed their assignment gets this badge.

Pinch-hitter Badge: Thank you for stepping up and claiming an assignment on a smaller time-limit to make sure no participant is left without a gift! Everyone who pinch-hit an assignment gets this badge.

Early bird: Congratulations on being the fastest one to finish your assignment! This badge is given to the very first signed-up participant to submit their work in our AO3 Collection.

Top Commenter: Thank you for yelling into everyone's comments about how much you loved their creations and encouraging them! Commenters are the backbone of our community, so this badge is given to whoever leaves the most comments on the creations in our AO3 Collection (whether they signed-up as a participant or not).

Treat-maker Badge: Thank you for deciding to create a gift for someone even without having been assigned to them, or even participated in the exchange yourself! This badge will be given to everyone who makes treats in this round (whether they signed-up as a participant or not).

Detective Badge: The funnest part of having anon creators is guessing who created what, and although participants may choose to opt in or out of the anonymity period, everyone is free to make their own guess as to which anonymous creator created what! This badge will be given to those who made a correct guess in each round (whether they signed-up as a participant or not).

(A small reminder that in the interest of ensuring the best possible engagement with other anonymous creators it is mandatory for participants who have chosen to be anonymous to submit at least one guess.)

As this is a very new and novel initiative for the DMBJ fandom that we're undertaking, we actively encourage your feedback on it and will be listening very attentively!
