Throwback to my last visit to #JackoFalls before #hurricanemaria. It was a beautiful day and the waterfall was in shade. I chose a simple composition because I wanted to focus on the texture of the moss-covered cavern walls. I currently have two prints of this image... @nytimes needed photos of #HarmonyGardens and the #waitukubulinationaltrail segment 3. I killed two birds with one stone as they are both in the same area, Bellevue Chopin. I met with Dylan Williams of Harmony Gardens who took me on a tour of what remained of the popular herbal garden. I got to taste various mint plants, natural sweeteners and even naturally growing pain meds. @nytimes also asked that I visit #scottshead to document some of the damage in that village, caused by #hurricanemaria. Going down there for this assignment was my first trip to the area since the storm. Sand was piled up along the roadway, houses on the seaside were demolished and empty. Another location from the @nytimes commission was #middlehamslfalls, deep in the rainforest. The hike to this #waterfall is about 45 mins long but it took longer (rain, capturing images, etc). The view was to die for tho! A few months ago I was contacted by @nytimes to capture images around #Dominica for a #posthurricanemaria piece they were working on. One of the locations they asked about was the @fortyounghotelwhich is one of our premier hotels on the island. I started working about 90 mins before the sunset and got a few good shots. For this film I tried my best to capture the changing light in the scenes. In most cases the clouds caused drastically different patterns of light on the ground, such as this scene at #freshwaterlake. In the space of a few minutes, the scene changed from light to dark and light again. These two images were captured seconds apart in the forest along the Syndicate Nature Trail. I had great fun shooting this short film.
