A/n: Eyyy finally posted something! Thank you guys for waiting, but posts will probably still be slow…school is so busy ;-; apologies from both admins!!
Sitting on the couch, you mindlessly scroll through your photos on your laptop. You’re a photography major and you decided to get a head start on your senior project. Without paying much attention, you ended up scrolling back until your high school days. A particular picture of a polaroid camera you took catches your eye. Clicking to enlarge the image, a small smile comes onto your face. Ah, it was the very first camera you have received. Jisung had gotten it for your 12th birthday. When you had gotten your very first professional camera in your sophomore year of high school, the first thing you took a picture of was the polaroid camera Jisung gifted you.
Looking at that first picture you took, you suddenly remember all the polaroids you took. A stream of memories fill your mind and your smile widens as you get off the couch and search your room for the little box where you stored all the polaroids in. Finally finding it, you head back out and plopped back onto the couch, opening the box.
You quickly shuffle through a few of them before flipping to the polaroid on the very bottom; the first polaroid you ever took. It was an adorable selfie of you and Jisung right after he gifted you your first real camera. The picture was a little blurry since you had been too excited and your hands were shaking. You close your eyes, the smile never fading, as you remember the exact moment this picture was taken.
Flashback
“Y/n, come here! I have a gift for you,” Jisung nervously smiles from the corner, his hands behind his back.
“Oh, what is it? Why didn’t you just put it with the other gifts?” little you curiously skipped over to your best friend.
“Well, I wanted it to be special and I wanted to give it to you in person,” Jisung looks down, shyly wiggling around, “I bought this with my own money.”
“Jisung, you didn’t have to spend anything! I know how much you wanted to save up and buy your own laptop,” you give Jisung a bear hug.
“It’s okay, you’re my best friend so I can spend money on you if I want,” Jisung proudly sticks his small hands out, a medium sized box, messily wrapped, resting on his palms.
You take the box out of his hands and examined it before tearing the crinkled up wrapping paper off and unboxing the box. You gasp and set the box down before practically leaping on Jisung, almost knocking the two of you down.
“It’s the polaroid I wanted! Jisung you’re the best, I love you!” you squeal, nearly choking the poor boy.
“I know, I know. You were eyeing that when we went shopping with our moms last time so I did a bunch of extra chores to get more money for it,” Jisung giggles, balancing himself out before wrapping his arms around you.
“Ugh thank you so much,” you wipe your teary eyes with your small hands.
“Why don’t you try it out?” Jisung urges, taking the polaroid out of the box, handing it to you.
“Of course! Let’s take a selfie then,” you grin, throwing an arm around Jisung.
Jisung wraps his arm around you and holds up the peace sign with the other. Both you and Jisung had the brightest smiles and you snapped the picture. You and Jisung waited in the warm evening sun for the polaroid to fully develop.
Seeing that the picture had finally shown up, you picked it up from the floor and waved it around a bit. As soon as you saw the picture, you and Jisung burst out in laughter. Jisung’s face was oddly stretched, due to the slight movement of your hand, and you were in the midst of blinking. Neither of you really looked the best, but neither of you cared.
End
Chuckling, you slid the polaroid back into the box. Flipping through more polaroids, you come across one that was just absolutely ridiculous. Setting down the rest of the stack, you snort when you see the whole picture. You, Jisung, Changbin, and Chan were all dressed up for Halloween. You looked at the date written on the back and your eyebrows flew off your forehead. It was all the way back from when you were a freshman. Your high school was hosting their yearly Halloween party and you and your three best buds decided to join.
You shake your head slightly, remembering how all of you were high off sugar and drunk on punch. You and Jisung were dressed as a pair, him a tree and you a sloth. You clung onto him, throwing up a peace sign to cover your sweaty face. Jisung, who nearly toppled over, was clinging back at you in order to stop himself from falling over. Next to the two of you was Changbin, clad in all black paired with a bat wing headband, posing sassily with a hip stuck out and an ugly pout. No one really knew he was a bat and he admitted that he was just there for the free donuts. As for Chan, he was dressed as a cheap vampire knock-off. Although his costume was all over the place, it was the most serious and somewhat put-together costume out of the four of you. He had a flowy cape, fancy dress shirt, and even a pair of fangs.
Flashback
“Jisunggg~” you squint your eyes, looking for your best friend.
“Look next to you, dumbass,” Changbin groans, shoving your head the other way.
“Oh, there you are,” you giggle, poking Jisung’s cheek.
“Ah, stop~” Jisung whines, defending himself from your prodding fingers.
“Shut up you guys, let’s get our picture taken,” Chan rolls his eyes, reaching into your backpack for your polaroid.
“Ask Bambam! He’s right there,” you suggest, pointing to the right of Chan.
“Yo Bam, take a picture for us?” Chan hands the polaroid over to Bambam.
“Alright, pose and say cheese!” Bambam carefully aims the camera at the four of you, squinting into the viewfinder.
You jump onto Jisung, legs and arms wrapped around him. You feel him wobble, but simply throw your hands up into a peace sign and smile as wide as you can. Hearing the click, you finally jump off of Jisung, apologizing briefly and running up to Bambam. He hands you back your polaroid and you thank him. He pats your head and leaves.
The four of you wobble over to a brighter spot in the room. Waving around the film a bit, you see the picture begin to develop. Before you could squint at the polaroid, Chan snatches it out of your hand and cracks up.
“Haha! Omg, this is the ugliest we’ve ever looked,” Chan doubles over, slapping his knees.
“You’ve always looked ugly, hyung, shut up,” Changbin broods, snatching the picture from Chan, snickering a little.
“Aish, just give me the polaroid,” you whine, snatching it from Changbin and showing it to Jisung.
“Ew, why do we look so gross,” Jisung sighs, resting his head on your shoulders.
You simply let out a chuckle. It was certainly a night to remember.
End
Giggling, you excitedly flipped through more polaroids before turning back to your laptop. Scrolling through more photos, you spot another one that brought tears to your eyes. It was yours and Jisung’s graduation photo. The two of you were beaming in your graduation gowns, skin glowing brightly under the sun. You remembered how just the year before, in your junior year, the both of you went through some really difficult times, but you guys managed to lift each other up and graduate together.
Flashback
“Y/n, we finally made it!” Jisung squeals, squeezing the life out of you.
“Ugh, finally! I’m so glad we can get out of this hell hole now,” you giggle, squeezing him back just as hard.
“Hey, congrats you two!” Chan chuckles, giving both of you a hug, “Now you can join me and Changbin in the adult world.”
“It doesn’t really get any better,” Changbin sighs, but a small smile peeks through and he attacks you and Jisung with a massive hug.
“Oh, why don’t we take a picture? For memories,” Chan smiles, holding up your camera that you had asked him to hold for you.
“Yes, yes, of course!” you smile, cuddling up to Jisung.
“Smile~” Chan takes a few pictures.
Both you and Jisung burst out in laughter as Chan clicks away with Changbin making faces behind him. When Chan finishes, he reviews some of the photos and you turn to Jisung, staring up at him. He notices you staring and turns to you, smiling.
“I love you, Jisung,” you whisper shyly.
“I love you too, y/n,” Jisung giggles, brushing a piece of your hair behind your ear, his soft hands brushing against your skin.
The two of you slowly lean in and you close your eyes. Lips finally touching, both of you smile into the kiss. You rest both your arms on Jisung’s shoulders, standing on your tip toes and Jisung snakes both his arms around your waist, pulling you closer.
It seemed as if the world had melted away and it was only you and Jisung left. However, the moment was broken when you heard a click and broke away from the kiss. You blushed when you saw that Chan had just taken a picture of the two of you kissing.
“Don’t get too carried away, we’re still here,” Chan teases, showing you the picture.
“Yah, you guys don’t have to rub it in our faces,” Changbin laughs.
You blush, hiding your face in Jisung’s chest. You listen to him laugh, his chest vibrating; it was comforting. You shyly peek up at Jisung and notice that his cheeks were glowing and your chest warms up knowing that you had the same effect on him as he does on you.
End
Smiling softly, you scroll through a couple more photos before landing on one that made you chuckle. You still remember the day clearly. Finally in college, you and Jisung decided to have a “study” date at a nearby cafe that Changbin had recommended. In the photo, Jisung was sleeping on a stack of his notes and textbooks, a little drool dribbling down his mouth. His cheeks were squished against his arm, looking extremely squishy. His hair was a mess and there were crumbs all over his cheeks from the cookies and cakes the two of you ordered.
Flashback
Looking around, you wanted to practice your photography skills before you started on your project. You took a few pictures and felt satisfied with yourself. Turning back to Jisung to tell him that you could help him on calculus, you giggled, not very surprised, that you had turned to see a napping Jisung. He had stayed up late last night to work on his music after all. The plate next to him was empty with only a few crumbs on it.
“Aww, Jisung is tired,” you whispered to yourself, holding up your camera, focusing the view on your sleeping boyfriend.
click
“Hehe~” you giggle, looking at the picture.
Putting your camera away, you reach over and ruffle Jisung’s hair a little and wiping the crumbs off his chubby cheeks. Sighing happily, you brushed Jisung’s bangs out of his face and continue to pet his hair. You notice him smiling a little in his sleep and you blush. Only if this moment could last forever…
End
You feel yourself warming up on the inside and you cuddle into yourself. You continue scrolling through pictures, becoming so invested that hours felt like minutes. Only if Jisung could be with you at this exact moment, you would be the happiest in the entire universe. You were so immersed in looking through photos that you hadn’t realized that the front door had been opened.
Hearing the door shut, you jump a little, startled. You look over at the door. Standing by the door was Chan, dressed in all black, smiling softly at you. Smiling back, you shut your laptop and get up. You feel tears prickling your eyes and your smile fades. You run to Chan, clinging on to him, crying into his shirt. Chan pats your head comfortingly…but it only reminds you of how Jisung used to play with your hair when you were feeling down.
Finally, you managed to calm yourself down and you wipe away your tears, looking up at Chan with a small smile.
“Ready to go?” Chan gives your hands a squeeze.
“Yeah, let’s go,” you sigh.
Jisung was truly like your own Peter Pan, bringing you back to the past when you never worried about a thing, never growing old, and keeping memories alive.
Locking the door behind, you and Chan make your way over to Jisung’s funeral.
