Big Bad Wolf

“Hans….I think he’s a legal person somewhere, I heard that mentioned.It’s just the way he phrased things it didn’t make me feel all to great. And he made me out to be the bad guy, and then Anna seemed to agree.”

“Frollo’s paralegal,” Zachariah confirmed with a slow nod. It was no doubt then that it was the guy Zach was thinking of and Anna could’ve not made a worse choice. “She clearly doesn’t have a good taste in men.” Most ringleaders had realised that there was something wrong with Hans. Besides of course the nicest one. “You should keep an eye on your sister, no matter if she wants you to or not. He’s not too bad at wrapping the innocent ones around his little finger.”

“I’m glad to hear it. I suppose you’ve got your own someone willing to do that, hm?”

“Flattering, Belle. Very flattering.” Zachariah chuckled. “Brendan did not tell you? I’m shocked. Let’s say - I’m on my way of getting someone.”

“No, I gathered as much when i told her I liked you. She was reluctant to speak. I do want someone to make her happy, but the guy made me feel uneasy. His name is Hans, and he was strange.”

A sparkle of amusement flickered in Zachariah’s eyes, although he tried to cover it by looking where they were walking again. So Anna wasn’t hiding her dislike towards him. Interesting. “Hans?” Zachariah repeated. His eye narrowed ever so slightly as he tried to put the name somewhere. It was certainly ringing a bell. “I’m pretty sure we rejected him the first time he applied for a job here. Yeah... Hans Westergard.”

elsadell:

“I suppose it does sound like that,” she agreed with a weak laugh. “I’ll keep that in mind from now on. I just…I had a bad fight with Anna, and the guy she likes was making me out to be a bad guy, and I just have a really bad feeling about all of it.”

Softly Zachariah squeezed her hand. "Your sister does not have the best feeling about me either, but that’s okay. You’re sisters. That’s how it works. You want someone who makes her as happy as you think she deserves to be and most men do not seem capable to do that.” Or were too perfect to be real. “You’re not the bad one. Ever. Who’s the idiot?”

“Oh, of course,” she murmured. She hadn’t thought of the possible complaints. “I don’t think so, don’t wink at me Zachariah,” she shook her head, grabbing her jacket to pull it round herself.

Zachariah could not help the laugh at her reaction to his wink. Adorable. ″I did not mean me if that’s what you’re thinking. I’ll gladly pass.”

“Oh, I’m not asking for something romantic to be made up.” Daria shook her head. She didn’t think that would be a good idea at all. Not that she wouldn’t go to that extreme, but she’d do that with someone random. Someone who wasn’t at the circus. “The hinting at us even hanging out would be enough. I want him to question it.” Daria shrugged easily.

“I don’t know much about anyone in the circus yet. I’m working it out.” Daria hummed lightly to herself. “I don’t think Scar will go running to her. It’ll be me or you, and if he comes to you then tell him whatever.” Daria didn’t care if Scar found out it was to piss him off, as long as she saw the reaction that would be enough.

Zachariah nodded slowly at her explanation. He could live with that. If it was about Scar simply getting annoyed about the simplicity of Daria hanging out with someone, she certainly had made the right choice. “You’ve planned this through apparently. How do you want to set it up?”

The ringleader rolled his eyes slightly at the mention of Scar not doing such thing. It didn’t surprise him. Scar knew his ways after all. “I’ve ruined two potential relationships for him and I was from being the kindest about it. I’m sure he’d just love to pay me back at least a little of it.” He shrugged. “I can handle Scar.”

Daria nodded her head once at him, she did want to make him jealous. It was a good plan, and she was wondering how to get him into the plan within having to spill everything. But it seemed as though there wasn’t many ways around it. “I’ll answer the second question first. He wouldn’t be able to be angry at you, but he would be furious I assume.” Daria smirked.

“You see, I’m probably what you’d assume to be the mistress. Or play thing. Which I’m not too fond off.” Daria paused for a moment. “Of course that has to remain between us. But he has pissed me off, and I need some type of revenge.” She shrugged. This wasn’t just some pitiful attempt at revenge. But she could see what he really felt then. How angry he would really get. It would show her how far gone he was. It was the perfect plan. “Of course besides that I’d owe you. I’m a stylist, and I can make clothes and all that stuff.”

A soft frown appeared on Zachariah’s face. It was needless to say that he highly doubted her words. Scar could find a reason in absolutely everything to get angry with him, and honestly why wouldn’t he? Zach was quite good at that himself. “You don’t know much about Scar and me, do you?” he asked rhetorically, “You’re coming to me knowing it would piss him off if we were to do anything. This conversation alone would annoy him. And yet, you don’t know how much. You’ve an interesting source to get information from.”

In a bored manner Zachariah waved his hand. It was obvious which things were to remain secret. It was one of the things that bothered him as well. “Not sure how the woman I am enjoying the company of would react to Scar telling her I’ve had something with you.”

“You don’t need to thank me,” she shook her head. Of course she’d give him a shot, it’d be cruel not to just because he was busy. She smiled as he linked their fingers, and she locked the door with her other hand before following him. “Interesting, yes…but good interesting, no.”

“Interesting is not quite what I hoped to hear,” Zachariah said with a soft frown, “Sounds like the description you’d use to not tell your friend their cooking is horrible. Is everything alright, love? My office is open no matter how busy I am and if anything, I’ll fall asleep on you when you decide to come after work.”

Daria stared at the man, and she wondered what kind of history Zachariah had with Scar. Of course, Scar would have no idea that she knew this. Which is what would make the reaction even more hilarious to her. Especially when she could pull the innocent card. “Oh, I think I have something.” Daria smirked as she stepped forward, taking a seat in his office.

“What would you say if I told you he is rather fond of my company, and that I want to him to be jealous? Which he will be.” Daria crossed her arms as she leant back in the chair.

Zachariah shut the folder of document he was writing it, pushing it to the side and resting his elbows on the table surface instead. He made an inviting gesture with his hand. Whatever it was, it certainly sounded interesting enough, and bothering Scar had quickly enough become a thing. 

“I’d pity you first of all,” he quipped with a smirk playing on his lips. Scar was good to drink with. That was it. “You want to use me to make him jealous then? Why? And more importantly, why would I play along?”

She smiled for what felt like the first time in days at his wink and the amusement in his voice, and she took his hand when it was offered. “Well I suppose it’d be nice to get out of the house, so I suppose I can humour you and see what you’ve come up with,” she teased, though it was true that it’d be nice to get out.

"Thank you,” Zachariah said honestly. It wasn’t self-evident that she was actually giving him another chance. He knew enough women who wouldn’t have. Reflexively he intertwined their fingers, waited for her to shut the door before leading them in the right direction. “Was your life at least more interesting than mine?”

Gretchen had told Daria about a few of her other friends, and she ended up going to meet the girl known as Spinelli. They spoke for a few moments, laughed about some people, and somehow ended up speaking about the man who was causing Daria’s head to spin. It just so happened Spinelli gave her a little bit of information which she needed.

Walking into a tent, and making her way up to an office, Daria knocked on the door three times. She waited for her to be welcomed in, and walked in confidently.

“Zachariah Lupos?” Daria asked. “I’ve heard you like taking the mick of out a guy named Scar.”

When someone knocked on the door of his office, Zachariah let out a long groan. He didn’t immediately ask the person in, was tempted even to end them away. After days of too much work he simply couldn’t be bothered. His mind changed however as soon as the woman entered. Too confident to come here with a stupid request or simple complain.

“It’s no secret that I am not necessarily fond of him. Why? Have you found something I could annoy him with?” Curiously, Zachariah raised an eyebrow at her. He was half expecting a stupid story about something minor, but he’d give the girl a chance nonetheless.

Elsa had noticed Zach running around, obviously busy with work, so she hadn’t pushed anything. If he was busy, surely he’d only get annoyed with her asking when they could go out. Instead, she drowned herself in her work, distracting herself from everything. She was still avoiding Anna, holing up in her cabin whenever she wasn’t working when she heard the knock. After checking through the window that it wasn’t her sister, she opened it with a smile. “Of course I can give you that chance. I saw you running all over the place, you were obviously busy. Don’t worry about it.”

"You make me sound far better than I am, darling and such nonsense coming from me means a lot.” Zachariah winked at her, a smile playing on his lips and his voice taking up a hint of amusement at himself. For probably obvious reasons, he wasn’t one to talk himself down. Usually. “Allow me to show you what a creative mind can do with barely any time on their hands.” Offering he held his hand out for her.

“Hey, hey, do you think I could just slip in to one of the dancing shows and join in dressed like this? I was just trying it on…but I realise it must be one of the shows. Reckon I could join in, it’d be a laugh, right?”

"I don’t mean to doubt you, but I don’t want to deal with the complains of the dancers telling me someone messed around in their performance, so.... just don’t. I’m sure you can find yourself someone to give a private performance to instead.”

It was almost needless to say that the last week had been busy for Zachariah. A problem here, a complain there and an extremely unfitting moment for one of his co-ringleaders to take a break. Fuck that guy! Zach’s mind had wandered of to Elsa more often with each passing day. He didn’t mean to ignore her. It just happened. By accident. Zachariah almost rolled his eyes over himself. She sure would love that excuse. If she was still bothering with him in the first place. He had no clue about what happened while he was concentrated on work. It definitely was worth a shot and so he stood in front of her cabin, knocking at the door and smiling apologetically at her, as soon as she opened. “Would you give me the great chance - no matter if I deserve or not - to make up for my disappearance and pretty much non-existence over the last few days?”
