“The fall of his peculiar lover”

Inspired by the paintings of Max Ginsburg’s “War Pieta” and Ilya Repin’s “Ivan the Terrible and His Son Ivan”, a concept art about a knight who vehemently discovers his mermaid lover ashore in a gruesome state.

I have implemented such contrasting colors to strike a mood and I tried to keep the compositioning balanced to direct the attention toward the center. I’m still in the learning process and experimenting of photobashing, it’s quite a handy tool to add realistic texture to your piece.

OVERALL, I SHOULDN’T HAVE PROCRASTINATED ON THIS PLATE 💀😭

I had this idea a while ago and thought it would be a fun little thing to get back into animating stuff, I though it would take me a week.

(but most of that time was spent on figuring out how to do thid in CSP and After Effects so I'm sure I will be faster next time....I hope)

Figure Drawing study from Reference! I implemented a few things, such as, elf ears, socks, hair (?), and a last-minute made up OC face ahahah

This took me forever to finish as I kept on blending and erasing; ‘twas a never ending cycle. In addition to that, I think my SECOND stylus might snap AGAIN AAHAHAH I ultimately like the end result, though!
