fuck
i know a lot of people come here to escape so this is probably gonna be pretty much all i say on the matter, but.
boost black voices. dont speak over black voices and experiences. educate yourself. donate if you can. if you cant, there’s youtube videos that are donating off of ad revenue. understand that us white ppl will never understand what it’s like to be black and experience antiblackness and racism in general. dont reblog/retweet/repost videos of black people being killed that’s traumatic. fact check. be there for your black friends, but understand that you’ll never understand what it’s like to experience racism. take mental health breaks if you need to, theres a lot going on. mental health breaks =/= not caring.
stay safe yall. black lives matter.
reminder that this blog, while not politically focused, supports BLM. bootlickers and racists aren’t welcome here, and never will be.

We got to witness Zim's full rage here
Just a reminder~
Invader Zim being mythologised by its modern fans as this uniquely and unfathomably weird show when it was literally just early 2000s meme culture played perfectly straight kind of makes me wonder how today’s shows for meme-loving fucks will be perceived in twenty years when everybody has forgotten what early 2020s meme culture looked like.
…I kind of think you are making a post-hoc analysis of Invader Zim.
Nah, I was there when it happened – the whole “rawr, I’m so random! WAFFLES!!1” strand of online meme culture was already well established at least a couple of years before Invader Zim debuted. It’s certainly true that Invader Zim was likely a broader audience’s first exposure to it, because the Internet wasn’t nearly as prominent at the time, but the show’s creators were absolutely tapping into an existing zeitgeist, and they darn well knew it!
(Heck, GIR’s obsession with waffles was explicitly referencing a specific, then-current Internet meme. It’d be the equivalent of a show that debuted in 2020 having a character who’s obsessed with administering vibe checks.)
*GIR voice*: “VIBE CHECK!” *explodes*
I can hear it perfectly.
(2001) (2004) (2019)

Its so funny now that we know that Zim is just a bastard old man picking fights with human kids

[Image Description: Two images set to the background of a flag with three stripes; the upper and lower stripes are both light red, the middle stripe is a darker red. The first image is of Dib Membrane from Invader Zim looking straight at the viewer showing no emotion on his face. The second image has the Autism Speaks logo crossed out with a ‘no’ sign.
