GOD i love bells hells so much they’re such a dysfunctional group who both love and fear each other. They all genuinely want to help and be a shoulder to lean on but at the same time unable to actually properly resolve any personal problems. It’s like all of them are giving each other a can of gas and a lighter and saying “i love you and if you want to burn the whole world, know that i’ll be right beside you” which is sweet and so, so loyal but does NOTHING to actually work out their traumas and problems 

they do interventions, group therapies, mind-melding and letting the two psychics prod into their brains to recall lost memories but they could take and take and take but have NO idea what to do with this information. The answer is always “we need to talk to x” bc try as they might they can’t fix one another but fucking hell if that’ll stop them from telling each other that they have every right to be mad at the world and just unleash hell on everyone and it’s SO good

Ok I want to talk about something here.

Orym's reaction to Laudna and Pâté de Rolo was so important to me.

Pâté got a lot of (good-natured and very understandable) laughter and jokes from everyone. But Laudna (through Pâté) explained that he had been what kept her sane during a very dark and isolating time in her life.

And Orym, rather than joking or brushing it off or even addressing Laudna, leans down and looks at Pâté and says "Good job Pâté, you did it."

That is such a moment for me. Not just allowing, but actively engaging with Laudna's coping mechanism in a positive way, without any question or judgement.
