Hey guys! For the 2026 Toxic Yuri Visual Novel Jam, I had the absolute pleasure of writing and producing MIRROR_NEURON, an 18+ visual novel about care, endurance, humanity, inhumanity, and the fraught relationship between a mech and her Pilot. Written entirely by me and directed by my lovely wife @saoirsedotpdf, MIRROR_NEURON has a total of about 16k words, 4 standard endings, and 1 secret ending.

seeing news about the fallout remaster announcement feels like cruel irony to me

microsoft games are a bds boycott target, and because both bethesda + obsidian are owned by microsoft, this includes the games published by them.

microsoft is gonna further profit from a new virtual playground of ~post-apocalyptic bombed out towns in the desert~ while contributing to creating bombed out apocalyptic conditions in gazan towns, by collaborating with israel on so many fronts that bds calls microsoft the most complicit company in palestinian genocide.

and nostalgia-baited fans will still buy it bc playing pretend in a virtual world thats a knockoff of what real life people are currently facing – a virtual world funded by that very suffering of those real life people – is more important to them than simply playing a different game

Not to be a bitch but sometimes people engage with fiction in the most boring way possible, and nowhere is this clearer than in videogames. Like what you mean you hate a character just because they were kind of abrasive when speaking to the player character? "They were mean to me" and it didn't occur to you to wonder why? Like, what might their attitude toward you reveal about the world? About the social dynamics within it? About their own perspectives and backgrounds and personalities? Does it even occur you to ask? Would you only have liked them if they bowed to your presence and talked about how great you are? Like I'm sorry but you're so boring. How boring fiction would be if it cathered to you

like, obviously Paradox games are 'teaching tools' only in a narrow and specific sense, a lot of things are simplified and streamlined for the purposes of making an entertaining video game, but I'll never forget about how many times I read about the Investiture Controversy and tried to understand it, and I always thought "it's about 'secular versus spiritual authority?' it's all about who gets to give a special ring to bishops? Why was this such a big deal?"

and then I played CKIII and went "ugh, it sucks that the Pope gets to appoint my court chaplain.
