Shayban said to Sufyan Al-Thawri,
“O Sufyan, count that which Allah has prevented from you as a gift to you;
since He has not prevented you out of stinginess but out of kindness.”

Narrated ‘Abdullāh ibn ‘Umar (radhīAllāhu ‘anhu): Allāh’s Apostle (ﷺ) said, “A Muslim is a brother of another Muslim, so he should not oppress him, nor should he hand him over to an oppressor. Whoever fulfilled the needs of his brother, Allāh will fulfill his needs; whoever brought his (Muslim) brother out of a discomfort, Allāh will bring him out of the discomforts of the Day of Resurrection, and whoever screened a Muslim, Allāh will screen him on the Day of Resurrection.”
[Sahīh Bukhārī Vol. 3, Hadīth no. 622. Translated by Dr. Muhammad Muhsin Khān] (via pearlsofislam)
اَللّهُمَّ اجْعَلْنِي مِنْ عِبَادِكَ القَلِيْلِ “O Allāh, Make us of Your ‘Few’ Servants!” اللهم اجْعَلْنِي مِنْ عِبَادِكَ القَلِيْلِ » When 'Umar b. al-Khattāb radī Allāh 'anh was walking in the market, he passed by a man who was supplicating, “O Allāh, make us of Your ‘few’ servants! O Allāh make us of Your ‘few’ servants!” So 'Umar said to him, “Where did you get this du'a from?” And the man said, “Allāh in His Book says: ‘And few of My servants are grateful.' (Qur'ān 34:13)” So ‘Umar wept and admonished himself, “The people are more knowledgeable than you, O 'Umar! إِذَا نَصَحْتَ أَحَداً بِتَرْكِ مَعْصِيَةٍ كَانَ رَدُهُ: « أَكْثَرُ النَّاسِ تَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ، لَسْتُ وَحْدِي! » وَﻟَﻮْ ﺑَﺤَﺜْﺖَ ﻋَﻦْ ﻛَﻠِﻤَﺔِ « أَكْثَرُ النَّاسِ » فِي القُرْآنِ الكَرِيْمِ لَوَجَدْتَ بَعْدَهَا: ﴿ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ النَّاسِ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ ﴾ ﴿ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ النَّاسِ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ ﴾ ﴿ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ النَّاسِ لَا يَشْكُرُونَ ﴾ وَﻟَﻮْ ﺑَﺤَﺜْﺖَ ﻋَﻦْ ﻛَﻠِﻤَﺔِ « أَكْثَرَهُمْ » لَوَجَدْتَ بَعْدَهَا: ﴿ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ ﴾ ﴿ أَكْثَرُهُمْ لَا يَعْقِلُونَ ﴾ ﴿ بَلْ أَكْثَرُهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ ﴾ ﴿ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَشْكُرُونَ ﴾ ﴿ كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّشْرِكِينَ ﴾ ﴿ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ يَجْهَلُونَ ﴾ ﴿ وَأَكْثَرُهُمُ الْفَاسِقُونَ ﴾ ﴿ وَأَكْثَرُهُمْ فَاسِقُونَ ﴾ ﴿ وَأَكْثَرُهُمُ الْكَافِرُونَ ﴾ ﴿ وَأَكْثَرُهُمْ كَاذِبُونَ ﴾ Sometimes when you advise someone to leave a sin, they respond with “But most people do it, it’s not just me!” But if you look for the words “most people” in the Qur'ān, you will find that most people “do not know” (7:187), “do not give thanks” (2:243) and “do not believe” (11:17). And if you look for “most of them”, you will find that most of them are “defiantly disobedient” (5:59), “ignorant” (6:111), “turning away” (21:24), “do not reason” (29:23), and “do not listen” (8:21). فَكُنْ أَنْتَ مِن القَلِيْلِ الَّذِي قَالَ اللهُ تَعَالَى فِيْهِمْ: ﴿ وَقَلِيلٌ مِّنْ عِبَادِيَ الشَّكُورُ ﴾ ﴿ وَمَا آمَنَ مَعَهُ إِلَّا قَلِيلٌ ﴾ ﴿ إِلَّا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ وَقَلِيلٌ مَّا هُمْ ﴾ ﴿ ثُلَّةٌ مِّنَ الأَوَّلِينَ وَقَلِيلٌ مِّنَ الْآخِرِينَ ﴾ So be of the “few”, whom Allāh says about them: ﴿ وَقَلِيلٌ مِّنْ عِبَادِيَ الشَّكُورُ ﴾ “And few of My servants are grateful.” (34:13) ﴿ وَمَا آمَنَ مَعَهُ إِلَّا قَلِيلٌ ﴾ “But none had believed with him, except a few.” (11:40) ﴿ إِلَّا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ وَقَلِيلٌ مَّا هُمْ ﴾ ﴿ ثُلَّةٌ مِّنَ الأَوَّلِينَ وَقَلِيلٌ مِّنَ الْآخِرِينَ ﴾ “In the Gardens of Pleasure, A [large] company of the former peoples, And a few of the later peoples.” (56:12-14) Therefore being among the majority or following with the majority doesn't mean that you are on the haqq or you are doing right people of haqq were always few even in yaumul Qiyāmah some prophets will come with few people like tens may Allāh show us the right path and don't be deceived by the name "majority" ﻗﺎﻝ ﺍﺑﻦ ﺍﻟﻘﻴﻢ – ﺭﺣﻤﻪ ﺍﻟﻠﻪ : “ﻋﻠﻴﻚ ﺑﻄﺮﻳﻖ ﺍﻟﺤﻖ ﻭﻻ ﺗﺴﺘﻮﺣﺶ ﻟﻘﻠﺔ ﺍﻟﺴﺎلكين، ﻭﺇﻳﺎﻙ ﻭﻃﺮﻳﻖ ﺍﻟﺒﺎﻃﻞ ﻭﻻ ﺗﻐﺘﺮ ﺑﻜﺜﺮﺓ ﺍﻟﻬﺎﻟﻜﻴﻦ ” Ibn al-Qayyim (rahimahullāh) said, “Go on the path of truth and do not feel lonely because there are few who take that path, and beware of the path of falsehood and do not be deceived by the greatness of the perishers.” [Originally Translated by Jinān Yūsuf]
❝Blessings arrive with gratitude [to Allāh], and gratitude is connected with more [blessings], and the two are tied together: more blessings from Allāh will never stop unless gratitude from the servant stops.❞ — Alī ibn Abī Tālib(رضى اللّه عنه) (Ibn Abī Al-Dunyā, Al-Shukr article 18)
Allaah (The Most High) said: وَجَعَلْنَا بَعْضَكُمْ لِبَعْضٍ فِتْنَةً أَتَصْبِرُونَ And We have made some of you as a trial for others: will you have patience? [Soorah Al-Furqaan]
Imaam Ibnul Qayyim (rahimahullaah) said: This is universal amongst all the creation- they are put to trial by one another. Those whom the Messengers are sent to are a trial for the Messengers—in calling them to the truth, exercising patience in facing their harm and bearing the difficulty in conveying the Message of their Lord. And the Messengers are a trial for those whom they have been sent to, as to whether they will obey and aid them, and testify to the truth of that which they have been sent with; or whether they will disbelieve, reject and fight them.
The ignorant people are a trial for the scholars, as to whether they will teach and advise them, whilst exercising patience in teaching, advising, guiding them and been constant in that.
And the scholars are a trial for the ignorant people, as to whether they will obey them and follow their example.
The subjects are a trial for the kings and the kings are a trial for the subjects.
The poor people are a trial for the rich people and the rich people are a trial for the poor people.
The weak people are a trial for the strong people and the strong people are a trial for the weak people.
The leaders are put to trial by those who follow them and those who follow are put to trial by way of the leaders.
The slave master is put to trial by way of his slaves and the slaves are put to trial by way of the slave master.
A man is put to trial by way of his wife and his wife is put to trial by way of him.
The men are put to trial by way of women and women are put to trial by way of men.
The believers are put to trial by way of the disbelievers and the disbelievers are put to trial by way of the believers.
Those who enjoin good and forbid evil are put to trial by way of those whom they command good and forbid from evil, and those commanded with good and forbidden from evil are put to trial by way of those who command them with good and forbid them from evil…..
