it’s so funny how when a lesbian says something as simple as “i don’t want to see a whole ass dick in skimpy underwear” men will always catastrophize it (“tucking is PAINFUL do you want her to be in PAIN”).

When women present a simple, reasonable boundary (eg.“i don’t want to see your dick”) men will always try to over-complicate it and guilt them into rescinding it.  One of the most dramatic ways of doing so is to create a scenario where the woman’s boundary causes the boundary-crosser extreme physical or psychological pain (”blue balls” is a famous example.)

It is. It has to do with the way our bodies network fat. Female bodies create sort of a mesh network to support fat (female bodies are MUCH more hardy in times of stress) and it can present as delightfully lumpy. More than 90% of women have visible cellulite, but all women store fat in this manner.

Here’s an illustration of the aforementioned difference in fat storage.

Men’s lattice pattern collagen threads holds subcutaneous fat in a way that, when the skin expands because of the fat storage, it expands evenly. Women’s “pockets” expand unevenly when we accumulate fat, creating that orange peel effect. Our storage pattern means we can healthily store more fat than men. Like a woman with 25% body fat is average, a man with 25% body fat is chubby. Because of that, like OP said, women are hardier in times of stress or famine. It’s also one of the reasons why our bodies can survive pregnancy, which is a massive energy demand on our system.

And there’s absolutely NO “treatment” for cellulite that will work. They are all bullshit designed to separate you from your hard-earned cash. It’s a secondary sex characteristic, it’s perfectly normal and it’s not going away no matter what you do. Like I’m very lean myself and I work out 5~6 times a week, and I still have cellulite. Someone giving a woman shit for having cellulite is akin to giving her shit for having skin. It’s just a mixture of misogyny and corporate greed.

Love your lumpy skin, ladies. It means you are a badass surviving machine shaped by millenia of evolution.

An all-girls science club from San Fernando Senior High School near Los Angeles has designed a solar-powered tent meant to help homeless and displaced people around the world.

The tent — designed by a group of 12 high schoolers with the help of an organization called DIYgirls — uses solar power to charge electronic devices, provide light and sanitize itself via a system of antibacterial UV lights. And it folds into a backpack for easy travel.

The electronics cost about $40. The tent itself is made out of highly durable and water-resistant material. The idea for the tent came after some members of the team saw increased homelessness in their neighborhood.

“These girls saw a problem in their community,” Evelyn Gomez, an engineer and the executive director of DIYgirls, tells NPR’s Morning Edition. The group aims to get young girls from under-resourced areas interested in the fields of science, technology, engineering, art and math.

So Marina Satti (a half Greek, half Sudanese singer, songwriter and actress from Crete) released this beautiful single a week ago and it’s been #1 on the Greek Trending page ever since. The song’s title translates to ‘Seer’ in English.

It’s received mostly positive feedback and the music video has been praised on showing the true urban face of Athens without sugar-coating or glamorising it. It’s also worth mentioning that it is a one-shot video - meaning it was all done in a single long take. Consequently, both Satti and the back-up dancers had to be extremely precise and careful not to make any mistakes, so as to not have to start shooting again from scratch.
