kara + her face when people insult her wife lena
princexofdaxam:
Mon el pointed at the blur of a woman who sat just at the foot of the makeshift stage. It was nice to finally be able to be around her without the sinking feeling. Was it the alcohol? Or was it the newly settling acceptance that blanketed the old lovers. All the coveted desires of the past were swallowed and tucked away to be reflected on. Kara’s choice to save him or the planet was difficult but a sound conclusion to their torrid love affair. Her love for this world was what made him love her so deeply. “You don’t even know the song! I like to see you try, Kaaarraaa.” He hopped off the edge, the microphone hanging from his fingers. “A cat! Kitty Danvers…I like it.”
“i know that song forwards and backwards, okay? you don’t know that song!” kara argues through a laugh. “i’m going to take that as a challenge so suck it,” she swipes a hand out and takes the microphone from his hand, a playful grin still stretching her lips as she tells the karaoke dj what song she’d like. “just remember, i put the kara in kara-oke,” she announces to the room as a whole while floating walking up to the screen. thank rao for this bar producing alcohol strong enough to intoxicate the kryptonian for a short period of time. it’s... much needed. “toto danvers, i’m toto in love -- geddit? toto... total... ha!” she laughs some more as the music begins to play.
struckbylightningflash:
“I’ve watched your fork scrap at that poor piece of pie for the last twenty minutes. Where are you, Kara?” Barry looked down at the pitifully streaky pie that sat in front of him. “I know for sure you’re not entirely here with us. What’s going on in that head of yours?”
“to be honest, i’m not really sure,” kara slowly drops her fork onto the plate now that he’s pointed out her absent mauling of the pie in question. “i feel like so many things are changing, you know? not just for me, but everything around me seems to be changing, too.” kara has been on earth since she was a young teen and has picked up quite a bit from both those around her and from sticking to alex’s side, but there is still she is yet to discover, especially when it comes to inter-personal relationships. the fact that she and mon-el had so many issues was enough for kara to put breaks on that whole side of her life, and now? now she feels like it’s banging it’s fist on the closed door begging to be allowed entry once more. “i feel like something has shifted in a friendship that i have with someone, but i don’t -- i don’t know what to do about it.”
viberamon:
“Because you can eat anything and still look amazing, while I start to look like the Santa that ate too many cookies,” he mumbled as he took another bite of the pie. “Not just them, girl, you would have all of us here going nuts. And Caitlin would want to run every test on you.” He made a face before sighing and he nodded. “I get that… I do. I’ve felt that…recently actually. It sucks, but I’ve heard that we aren’t invincible and sometimes people get hurt. Sorry, I wish I was better at words.”
kara blushes deeply as she starts chewing on the straw that occupies her glass. “c’mon, cisco. you’re definitely not anything like santa. you’re... cisco sized,” she smiles, hoping that would be enough to make him feel better about the words he had just muttered. just like on krypton, each and every human has their own shape and size, and kara thinks that’s absolutely beautiful. it should, in no way, be used negatively. in fact, she wants differences to be celebrated instead. “oh rao,” she laughs. “unfortunately for caitlin, i’m physically fine so no one has to worry about that. she means well, though. i will forever be thankful for caitlin’s... vigilance.” once he’s finished speaking, kara can only nod as she drops the straw back into the drink and sits back in her chair. she knows he’s right and that not even she can be in two places at once, but the weight still sits on her shoulders. it’s not something she’s learned how to shift thus far. “yeah, i know. i really really know that...” but, to kara danvers, knowing and believing are two entirely different things, and she still believes that she can do better; be better. it’s a constant uphill battle that she doesn’t know how to stop. “how’s s.t.a.r labs holding up after everything? are you okay?”
agcntdanvcrs:
alex’s head lolled to the side as kara busied herself with the food rather with the situation at hand, “you don’t know that.” she grumbled, her eyes twitching as she waited for the reveal – except the cat amidst the rags was actually quiet beautiful. alex’s lips puckered quizzically as she drew closer to run her finger over the cat’s head, a smile flickering on them when he started purring. “i guess he’s alright…” alex’s eyes examined him, out of habit than anything and noted the ribs sticking out, “i think i have some canned tuna somewhere…” alex went back into the kitchen to search through her cupboards for something, “so where did you find him?”
“i know that he’s really tiny and that he’s not going to cause any issues,” there’s a pause before she chuckles. “at least, not big ones anyway. just look at him, alex. he was -- he was all alone, okay? i couldn’t leave him. i mean, at least he’s not a snake?” she shudders, remembering one of her first rescues vividly. as alex busies herself, kara continues to eat in a bid to fill the silence that surrounds them. ever since she had been trapped in her own mind and with the re-introduction of streaky in her thoughts, she may have been... actively looking for that kind of relationship again. she misses that cat dearly, and she figures that if anyone could give a street kitten a new source of life it would be the danvers girls. “in a back alley a few blocks away from the chinese restaurant,” she swallows her mouthful then replies. “i was on my way back when i heard him. i couldn’t -- i couldn’t in good conscience leave him there. if it makes you feel better, i’ll take him to a vets tomorrow to be checked out. a guy i know that works there owes me a favour.”

Looking over at her, Iris couldn’t help but smile a little at her question. She definitely knew how Kara was feeling. It ran through her mind a few years ago and it took a while for her to come to terms with the feelings. “Yeah. It was terribly confusing and terrifying. I didn’t want to lose the relationship we already had. In the end though, I knew it would be okay. I think being best friends beforehand only made our romantic relationship stronger. Are you starting to feel something for someone?” she asked curiously not mentioning any specific names in case Kara didn’t want any.
kara nods as she remains quiet, her fingers now nervously playing with each other as she listens. normally she would go to her sister with what toys with her thoughts and feelings, but this one time she figures someone else is more qualified -- even if she believes that alex is the wisest person to walk the earth. “did you talk about it a lot or did it just... happen?” she licks her lips as she nervously meets iris’ gaze. “i, uh... i don’t know. that’s what i’m confused about. this, uh -- this person means a whole lot to me and i really don’t want to change that, but...” she makes a face as a small squeak emits from her throat. “i don’t know how to explain it.”
thelastgoodluthor:
“You sure?” Lena questioned softly, reaching out her hand to place it over Kara’s still resting on the table - just enough that Kara could pull away if she wanted to. She let out a small resigned chuckle at the blonde’s words, nodding understandingly as she relented and picked up a fork to finish off the pie. “Yeah, I know.” She muttered. There were more times than she could count that that same question ran through her head - she had thought moving away from Metropolis would have quieted it, but ever since it seemed to haunt her even more. “But dwelling on what you wish you could have done doesn’t help anyone - least of all yourself.” She shot Kara a pointed look - for all that Kara was ready to allow everyone else their moments of weakness, it seemed she wasn’t inclined to extend herself the same courtesy.
She let out a small huff of annoyance around a mouthful of pie at the mention of L-Corp, shaking her head a little. “Everything’s fine just… tiring. And I know I’m not the only one feeling it.” She muttered with a small frown. She couldn’t help but feel a little responsible for Sam’s recent distress, worrying she was working her far too hard. She took another few bites of the pie, chewing with a small, concentrated frown still in place before shaking her head, before pushing the plate into the centre. “I can’t finish this all, you gotta help me out with it.” She urged, giving Kara a begging look, verging on puppy eyes. “And tell me more about your disappearing act - what is the article on?”
there’s a moment in which kara doesn’t move, but then her hand turns over and she folds her fingers over lena’s. the touch is comforting and sets her fingertips alight. “yeah, i’m sure,” she nods slowly, eyes on the table. the touch is enough, she doesn’t know how she would be able to handle the combination of that and lena’s gaze at the same time. “i’m told it’s the danvers curse,” she attempts to laugh, though it comes off lamer than intended. “i know that i can’t really do much at the end of the day, but it doesn’t make it any less painful, you know?” supergirl -- she should have been able to do more. she’s defeated armies of aliens and has saved countless people from the grips of crime, yet this time nothing she could do would change the outcome and that -- kara has never really met an obstacle in which she can’t fly over or around yet. it... threw her through a loop and she doesn’t quite know how to get back through it yet.
ever so slowly, kara lifts her eyes from their hands and finally meets lena’s soft hues. “is there anything i can do to help?” she lifts a brow, as concern sweeps through her features. she might not be in a good place herself, but she will always always lay that aside if her friends are struggling. she watches the other eat what kara had given away before laughing -- she should’ve ordered the smaller slice. “okay, okay,” she waves her free hand in front of lena’s face as she playfully tries to block those goddamn puppy dog eyes. she picks up her discarded fork and scoops a piece off, then makes a show of putting the pie in her mouth. “arr oo aapy now?” she chews while grinning with a closed mouth. “he was this big internet craze -- kind of a do-gooder that preaches equality for humans and aliens alike. he hasn’t been heard from in a few days, though. i think i’m starting to worry about that.”
thelegendofvixen:
Desserts were a weakness of Amaya’s, something she’d come to learn after spending so much time on the waverider. The hints of praline and sugar wafting under her nose called to her, so she was grateful when Kara suggested she give it a whirl. “Well, thank you, just don’t let me eat the whole thing. It’s very possible I might try,” she joked as she dipped a forkful of the decadent pie into her mouth. “Oh my god,” she hummed gently. “I want this to be my last meal. I mean, not now but… you know what I mean.”
“i don’t think you have to worry even if you do finish it,” kara responds, a half hearted chuckle rumbling through her dry throat. “have you seen yourself, amaya?” now that she’s free of the pecan pie, kara lifts a foot and rests it on the edge of her chair and wraps her arms around the raised knee. “for me, my last meal would definitely consist of potstickers, pepperoni pizza and eliza’s homemade pecan pie. i mean, i can’t think of anything that tops those three things.”
westirisx:
Iris sat across from Kara and tilted her head as she looked up from her tablet. “Okay, what is going on because the fact that you aren’t finishing that is concerning,” she smiled setting her tablet aside as she leaned on the table. She wasn’t going to say no to pie, so Iris grabbed one of the forks off to the side and dived in taking a bite.
in the silence that follows, kara wraps her fingers around her untouched glass of wine as she cautiously considers approaching iris with the thoughts that plague her mind. in the end, though, she figures if anyone would know what advice to give it would be iris west. “--- was it -- was it really confusing for you when you started seeing barry as someone more than just a friend?” she eventually asks, quietly.
viberamon:
“Kara Danvers not finishing a pie. You either magically got sick or you’re going through stuff. However, I will not say no to pie,” Cisco said as he took the entire tray and sat it in front of him while he looked at Kara. “What’s up, Girl of Steel?”
“why do people always assume i’m like a vacuum when it comes to food?” even if it’s true, it’s still a weird belief to hold about someone. “i’m not sick,” she then shakes her head. “i mean, the whole deo would probably get themselves involved if i were, but i’m not. i guess i just have a lot going on in my mind right now. it’s hard to find a moment of silence, you know?” lifting a hand, kara runs her fingers through blonde locks and lets out a slow sigh. “sorry, didn’t mean to bring the mood of the room down. “in all honesty? i’m not -- i’m not used to failing. and not just failing, but to fail so badly that several lives were lost? that’s not -- that’s not how it’s supposed to be, cisco.”

Caitlin watched the synthesizer spin endlessly along the base. The blood within the veil sloshed around the glass stemmed test tube. A validating ping echoed through the lab. Finally. She plucked it from the cylinder groover, her heels turning towards the off set sound of feet crashing into the tiles. With an exasperated gasp, Caitlin stood nose to nose with the mighty Kryptonian. “K-Supergirl..you–uh wow. You’re very prompt.” Stepping back, she extended her arms out to embrace the woman. “Yes! Molly is in the med bay. I’ve collected a sample of her blood,” Caitlin lifted the dangling vile with a subtle smile. “She’s going to be thrilled to finally meet you. A good alien who I suspect may know what species she’s a part of.”
“Follow me,” she urged her forward with the delayed clicking of her heels.

“sorry, i didn’t mean to startle you,” kara chuckles softly before pulling caitlin into a friendly hug. “i should really have knocked, but i got so excited about visiting, you know? it’s been a while since i’ve been here so, uh... yeah. is barry around? where is everyone?” glancing around, the blonde kyrptonian can’t seem to see anyone so she turns her attention back to the redheaded bio-engineer. “molly?” she lifts a brow. the name doesn’t ring any bells, but if caitlin says that kara can help then so be it. “oh... gross,” she laughs. “i’m not fully versed on all types of aliens, but i might just have enough to help here. have you noticed any genetic anomalies in her blood yet? or does she have any physical differences of note?” kara searches her mind for questions that might help as she follows caitlin through the corridors. “but i’m guessing since she needs help identifying herself she’s probably human-looking... right?”
