hey CRWBY.... bring this back
So I guess this is the closest confirmation we got so far regarding Monty's plans for Bumbleby. Someone else had asked this question so it's very much appreciated that Sheena unloading all this stuff especially in her Asks. She's also the one that uploaded the Ironwood = Hitler video on Twitter but this one was on her Tumblr.
"He felt it was important to highlight that, in a world where everyone is presumed to be straight, we often project those expectations on people who do not necessarily align with that assumption, closeted or otherwise. He went so far as to consult the involved VAs to make sure they were comfortable portraying a gay character after running the scenario by them."
-Sheena Duquette (Monty's Widow)
Here's the original ask by an Anon and then the second image is a more elaborate answer to the follow up question:
"Critics" and antis be like "rwby fans just need to except criticism" and it's the most slanderous, misinfo spouting bullshit that you could ever hear.
Rwby isn’t perfect, but if you’re spreading false information about the show and then getting upset when people push back, maybe think about the possibility that you said something inaccurate and that they’re probably not angry at you just because of “criticism”
You are actually very weird for obsessively hating on RWBY by the way. Dress it up however you feel like you need to but let's be perfectly clear here, you are not normal for making tearing down some basically average and inoffensive at worst animated show your entire life. You are not normal for dedicating a truly unfathomable amount of your time and mental energy to being extremely angry that a pair of fictional women fell in love. You are not normal for harassing the crew & voice actors, speculating about their personal lives or weaponizing the memory of a dead creator against them. Most of all however, you are not normal for still being there for the premier of every single new episode nine entire seasons later and still demanding the show change itself to cater to you despite everything.
not sure if i should add onto this, but it's pretty weird to have formed such a massive group of people who's sole purpose is hating the show. to the point that it becomes prevalent enough in other unrelated communities that people can't bring up they actually like the show (or even just bring up the show on it's own) without immediately regretting it because people can't help but start talking about how bad the show actually is. or just having the conversation shutdown entirely, because normal.
I also want to add onto this, that it s extremely weird to have people who are part of said 'community' which is already weird for existing. Collect screenshots of people talking about the show and take them to the Subreddit for everyone to be angry about.
And it’s even weirder for those same people to act like they’re doing something noble, somehow helping people learn what bad writing looks like or some crap
It’s twisted as fuck, you can just not like the show
You don’t have to justify it by framing your dislike of it as a reality all writers can benefit from taking as objective truth in some martyr-y, faux-respectful tone as you insult the CRWBY
I'm in a romantic mood today so I want to gush about some of the reasons why I love Bumbleby so much. They're just... so good for each other and there are so many reasons why.
1. MUTUAL RESPECT
Both Blake and Yang consistently recognise each other's positive qualities and encourage each other. And they also see beneath the surface, with Yang pointing out Blake's bravery when even Blake herself doubted it and Blake admiring Yang's inner strength rather than only her physical strength.
2. TRUST
Both Blake and Yang are put in positions which remind them of their past trauma in Blake's case Adam's abuse and in Yang's case Raven's abandonment but in each case they're able to see how the situations are completely different and trust each other despite those issues. They both avoid making the same mistakes that they did before and help each other heal from the past.
3. HONESTY
Both Blake and Yang open up to each other about their deepest fears and insecurities. Blake tells Yang about her relationship with Adam and Yang tells Blake about her search for Raven. These are things we never see them share to this extent with anyone else, yet they do it without any hesitation with each other.
4. SUPPORT
Both Blake and Yang try to be there for each other when the other needs them, and always protect the other as best they can. They each also consistently make choices that they hope will ensure the other's safety and well-being.
5. FAIRNESS/EQUALITY
Both Blake and Yang repeatedly express a desire for their relationship to be an entirely equal partnership. They each want to both take care of the other and be taken care of in return, rather than either one of them carrying all of the weight in the relationship or being dominant over the other.
6. SEPARATE IDENTITIES
Both Blake and Yang have roles in the story and other relationships outside of each other. They're tied together by the narrative but their characters also exist and grow individually in ways which don't revolve around the other person.
7. GOOD COMMUNICATION
Both Blake and Yang show that they are able to listen to the other's perspective and take the other's wants and needs into consideration when they have differing opinions on an issue. They prove that they feel safe and comfortable enough in their relationship to express their thoughts openly to each other and reach a compromise that they're both satisfied with when they disagree.
8. A SENSE OF PLAYFULNESS/FONDNESS
Both Blake and Yang joke around and tease each other throughout the show. They often make each other laugh and are casually physically affectionate with each other. They genuinely make each other happy and have a close enough bond that they both let down their walls around the other.
Anyway I just love these two so much and needed to scream about how great their relationship is. And if you're interested in knowing where the list of green flags/healthy traits in relationships came from then you can find it here.
This might have been written before volume 8 began but this still holds true through volume 9

Weiss can’t handle the cuteness of her dolts

It confuses me that so many people seem surprised that Bumbleby was planned from the beginning. But I guess that happens when the “Friends to Lovers” trope is actually done well. Because Blake and Yang becoming friends and learning to trust each other as friends is as much part of their journey than them falling in love is. Just because they didn’t immediatly have big crushes on each other doesn’t suddenly invalidate their 10 year slow burn. I would argue them being friends first and overcoming their demons as friends before starting to feel like maybe they have romantic feelings for each other is much more impactful.

I think about this scene often. Weiss is almost like a prince here saving her maiden (*wink *wink see what I did there), but I also think about this a lot because of how much Weiss cared about Penny and how much she tried to keep her safe

@frosensteel
Ahhh it’s Blake’s birthday!! Happy birthday Blake‼️‼️‼️‼️
Thinking about the girlfriends :))
so i was thinking about weiss and penny parallels…
and it’s actually kind of crazy???
they’re both atlesians who were born into a set of expectations from their respective authority figures, which forces them into very subservient roles. however, where penny was artificially created and then nurtured by her father, weiss was born and treated far less kindly. this resulted in them having vastly different views to very similar expectations/roles, where penny ended up much more optimistic and willing to play into what she was created for, but weiss ended up more cynical and defiant when faced with the position that she was born into.
now i know the reason most people ship frosen steel is because they really like both nuts and dolts and whiterose and were like “what if i… (smooshes them together) perfect”
AND THATS VERY VALID AND VERY RELATABLE!!!! HOWEVER. we as a society do not acknowledge the frostbyte part of the polycule NEARLY enough.
