you still can’t see a character with no romantic or sexual interests and interact with them without shipping them.
you still don’t accept people who are aplatonic, afamial, or any other kind of nonrose anattractional.

you still don’t accept hetero aspecs.
you still associate asexuality and aromanticism with whiteness, thinness, conformity, etc.
you still think of arormanticism as something that only occurs in tandem with asexuality.
you still think of aspec adults as lesser than allo adults, infantilize them, etc.

it sucks that the overwhelming majority of medical messaging around salt/sodium is "evil poisonous substance that you're definitely already eating way too much of," because like. you do still need it. (trust me, as a POTS-haver, I've had to completely rewire my own brain about salt.) and you need more salt when the entire northern hemisphere is hot enough to fry an egg on. ever tried sucking down the recommended 64oz of hydration per day entirely as water, only to find you're peeing constantly without any of the purported benefits of being "hydrated"? assuming you don't have another medical condition that causes frequent urination, your body probably needed more salt/electrolytes to be able to hold onto that water and make use of it. if there was ever a time to keep a sports drink/pedialyte/etc within constant reach, it's when the heat index is 110°F/43°C.

you know that media theory that the hardest story to tell is that of a cult of personality? because either the character is too charming the audience doesn’t see what’s evil about them or not charming enough that the audience can’t tell why anyone would worship them diagetically? would it be too crazy to say asriel is kind of one of those. he looks into the camera and says umm please don’t think of those years i spent doing horrible things as me just imagine me with this other face as your cute little harmless goat friend. after we the player spent hours of gameplay dealing with the messes he’s made. and now he’s the fandom’s special little golden boy like he didn’t Do All That. guy who’s entire deal is he is a master manipulator went haha let’s pretend i didn’t do all those things you literally saw me do and almost everyone who played the game seemed to… buy that?
I read this, scoffed, kept scrolling, kept thinking about it, and then scrolled fifty miles all the way back up to reblog it, because I'm only just realizing what feels so obvious. I feel like I just got a bucket of cold water to the brain.
It's wild to watch the phrase "tumblr sexyman" morph into "man that tumblr thinks is sexy," because when I first saw the phrase come into use, I always saw it used in reference to the phenomenon of "when presented with a wide array of fictional characters, tumblr will always pick the skinny white man to obsess over, and if the fan-favorite character has no canonical human appearance, the fandom will inevitably create a popular fanon of the character as as a skinny white man."
When I hear "tumblr sexyman," I think of Cecil Night Vale being constantly depicted as a skinny white man instead of literally anything else. I think of the background character white men who get elevated over protagonists that are women, people of color, or otherwise not the white man power fantasy.
"Tumblr sexyman" is, like. An insult. I DON'T want any of my blorbos to win a "tumblr sexyman" poll. "Tumblr sexyman" is the exact opposite of what I want my own OCs to be. If any of my characters ever get called "tumblr sexyman," I will have to immediately re-evaluate myself and the art I'm making.

blorbofication to me is when you love a character in such a laser focus way that you somewhat detach them from the narrative from which they are inserted and treat them in a way roughly similar to how you'd treat an oc for which you still have no story and just like to put them in situations just for fun. which there's nothing wrong with btw, it's just that it can easily lead to people forgetting the character engine in a narrative and not just a barbie doll
