I don’t like the idea of Voldemort not being able to experience love because his birth wasn’t from a product of love [because what does that say to children of victims, children who doesn't know one of their parents because they left for whatever reason, children of divorced parents, or children of parents who were never together/married/had broken up], so what if he WAS able to feel love [all kinds] and had connection with other people, and did for a while, had a girlfriend and everything, top grades, very popular, and was on his way to becoming THE wizard of the time. That’s why no one expects Tom Riddle to be Voldemort, the perfect cover up.

But he CHOSE to be a bigot, he CHOSE to be hateful and go on his path of darkness, he chose to do everything he did. And it’s a choice anyone can make, that’s what's wrong with him; it wasn’t his tragic backstory, it wasn’t him being bullied, it wasn’t him being put into a certain house, he isn’t a product of his time, he could’ve easily not have chosen this path, but he did, and anyone can, that’s the point of his character, he is a representation of everything you could be, he exists as a reminder of what could happen if you don’t correct certain behavior or educate young children, if you refuse to acknowledge that your opinions come from questionable sources, if you refuse to educate yourself in certain areas of media and spread misinformation, or worse, purposefully spread misinformation with full knowledge that it could lead to social stigma, or blatant discrimination. 

The worst villains are the ones you could easily become.

HZD is actually one of the most relevant games right now because of its core message that is intelligence without empathy is destruction. But it will not be recognized as such because the gaming community is full of purists - people who put the game down because the main protagonist is a women and people who put the game down because it's photorealistic and they think that it automatically devalues it. i keep having ideas for my rewrite, except im working on the first book and i keep getting ideas for the other books (like the Yule Ball, house elves, the ghosts, the magic system, the characters, the layout of the Hogwarts grounds, the characters, the plots, the)

Because people are talking about this, I don’t think that Hermione is emotionally intelligent (at least in the way people are trying to say she is)

She’s very smart & good at analyzing people and situations from a distance. She can understand, in theory, the how & why people do things or feel certain ways, which is why she’s able to explain Cho’s feelings to Harry and predict him acting certain ways

She also has difficulty managing her own emotions (punching Malfoy, attacking Ron, forgetting to use magic, bursting into tears and running away, forgetting she can use magic, freezing). She understands people through analysis and not through actually interacting— she’s so incredibly insensitive sometimes because she either can’t empathize, doesn’t care to, or has other priorities. She couldn’t understand why Ron was getting mad about Crookshanks and her blatant lack of respect for him and his space, she dropped being comforting to Lavender about her bunny as soon as she had a point to prove, she thought that being expelled was worse than dying, and she doesn’t really have an easy time letting loose and enjoying acting her age

Her solution to jealousy is to make the other person MORE jealous even after attacking him for Christ’s sake

I’m not saying that Hermione is dumb or anything like that. I LOVE that she struggles to connect to people like this. I LOVE that she has these flaws and is far from perfect. It makes her far more interesting and far more human than if she was just “the smart girl” all the time. She’s wonderful in so many ways and that INCLUDES her flaws!!!!! A character is nothing without flaws!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I need tiktokers to understand that ao3 has been home for the freaks (affectionate) ever since the day it was created. the entire site was created because “dark and fucked up fics” were banned and removed from other platforms, so us freaks came together and created a site for other freaks — a site where nothing is censored, a site with no algorithm, no capitalism, no ads, and again, absolutely no censorship.
