i understand that you’re incredibly naive and haven’t spent a single second critically thinking about how this would work, but as nice as all of this sounds, here’s the issue:
someone has to work to provide your food and water. someone has to work to build your house, maintain it, and generate the electricity it runs on. someone has to work to provide your healthcare and the resources needed for your healthcare. someone has to work to make your clothes. someone has to work to build, run and maintain your internet connection, public transport options, and schools. for a number of these, someone additionally has to spend their time and effort acquiring skills necessary to be able to help provide them.
so as much as i agree that we shouldn’t just let people starve to death in a hole somewhere because they’re unable to work, i’d like to know how exactly you’d run a society where people are just given access to all of these things for free, without, having a nebulous “someone else” pay for them, or simply not compensating the numerous people who need to put in time and effort to provide these things, making all of them very directly reliant on slave labour.
and i swear to god, if someone says “just let the government pay for it”, i’m going to scream because that’s a whole new level of fundamentally not understanding how anything functions.
