THE BRIDE! electrified me like nothing has before. I watched it twice when it was out in theaters, first on a regular screen and then on IMAX. I haven’t been able to get enough of it ever since. Thank you to everyone involved in bringing this masterpiece to life, it’s much needed right now with the rise of the dumpster fire that is the trad wife and rise in conservatism that wants so badly for women and people afab to submit once again.

My fellow art babes - this art tip fucks

I literally used this same method for a client earlier this year. They had me working on some designs for a pitch and I took this approach in layers.

First I drew with a blue highlighter marker for a few iterations of a character. Just quickly knocking out shapes as ideas sprung into my head. No more than a handful of tens of seconds per design.

Second I drew over that with pencil or colored pencil. The softness meant I could dig into the design a bit.

Third I went over that with a marker.

Now with the base sketch figured out, I scanned in my doodle and took it into my art program. Whatever I wanted to refine out of what I had, I made a duplicate of the doodle and made a gaussian blurred version. Then sketched on top until I felt out the inks properly.

Normally I find digital inkwork annoying as hell because everything is too tight and it's hard for me to ignore the underlying sketch. But using this method, I can be more mindful of my lineart.

The key to good inkwork is to try to not have the underlying sketch be part of the ink's design. Otherwise you're designing around the sketch instead of using it as a basic reference. You wouldn't trace a photo the same way and have that come out looking great either. (Otherwise wikihow would be a lot more attractive).

Tips for artists coming back to tumblr from twitter

Have a pinned post with your name and links, like you would on twitter. You can also add links to your bio with html.

Find a blog theme that is very image friendly.

Create an art tag so people can find your work!! Especially if you also reblog others’ stuff onto your main. If you don’t feel like getting creative, #my art is a popular one.

Popular art tags here are # artists on tumblr, # my art, # illustration, and # drawing, or just simply # art. You can add as many tags as you want to a post, although only the first 5 or so are prioritized in search.

Pinned tags are now a thing? so like if you have a bunch of tags on your blog but only want a select few to show up, you do that in blog settings.

You can also turn on tipping on your posts to allow people to donate to you if you connect a Stripe account. I don't know specifics.

Create an art-only sideblog for people to follow if they don’t want to see all your reblogs.

Submit your art to blogs like @art or @artistalley for a chance at getting featured or reaching a wider audience!

You can use spaces in tags. Please use spaces in tags. It makes navigation much easier.
