Friday, June 5th: Hi everyone, I’m Gemma, a bi, mentally ill disaster, who's in desperate need of help as I'm drowning in overdue bills, and since my last post, my accounts have become overdrawn.

As most of you are already aware, I have been struggling financially for quite some time due to my welfare benefits being revoked, under the UK’s controversial changes to how benefits are assessed and assigned. And due to my mental health and some unfortunate DWP mess-ups, my benefits have been on and off sanctions for the past year.

And a while ago, I attended a medical assessment for my U.C benefit, and the results stated that I have a limited capability for work due to my chronic depression and extreme fatigue. However, despite this, my benefits have been suspended without warning or explanation. I appealed against my benefit suspension, and I am currently waiting for my reinstated U.C payment which I won’t receive until the end of June (the 25th to be precise).

To be quite honest, these past few months have been absolute hell for me, and with no income, I’ve been relying on the kindness of others to get by. However, due to quite a lot of late bills and fees, it’s been difficult to stay out of debt and it just keeps building up. I absolutely hate to ask for help, but I am honestly at my wit’s end and I desperately need some. It's my birthday on the 19th and it would mean the whole world to me if I could get some help until I receive my welfare, my goal is £300!

If anyone could spare any amount to help me, even if it’s just £1/$1/€1, it would literally save my life, and sharing definitely helps just as much as donations. Nobody is obligated in any way to donate if they can’t or don’t want to, I know we’re all struggling right now.

I’d fucking love it if white people didn’t use this post to pat themselves on the back. I guarantee that no amount of “don’t people know this already?” or “isn’t this obvious?” will actually make you a good ally to black people.

The only things that will make you a good ally to us is listening to us, boosting our voices, defending us when we need it, calling out your fellow whites when they display overt and/or covert racist behavior, and checking yourself consistently.
