Do you think Leslie Odom Jr would be involved in a project if the actor playing his daughter was white? What are people even thinking?

i have come back to this forgotten blog just to say that if maddie really is playing a mixed race autistic person, i am personally cancelling her and sia sorry i just can’t even begin to understand why anyone on the production team thought that was at all appropriate. like i’m not even saying that in terms of her career or whatever - like how could anyone on that production team, including maddie, sia, and whoever else, think that having a white actress play a mixed race character be at all not racist. like as a person of color, i would rather see another maddie movie flop than see this one succeed on the basis of that alone. 

maybe im wrong, but if im seeing the bts photos right, im already fuming

Ballerina is getting pretty good reviews so far! The Guardian gave it a 3/5 stars, the same score given to Moana. 

So far, the criticism mainly stems from the atmosphere of the movie due to the focus on younger audiences - like pop music instead of a proper score, which could have been influenced by 19th century France, which is where the movie is set. However, the set design has been praised. 

But, overall, it’s been considered a pretty cute and well made children’s film! I’m honestly pretty relieved, since I was honestly put off from the movie after the first teaser. The animation just looked cheap. But then the full trailer came out, and the animation looked MUCH better, and I got my hopes up again. 

Can’t wait for it to be released in the states!

I hate that every time one of the girls hangs out or posts a picture with a guy, people automatically assume it’s a thing. ESPECIALLY on instagram, the moment one of the girls posts a photo with a guy people start “shipping” them. 

It just pushes the idea that guys and girls can’t be friends without underlying flirting or ~secret feelings~

It’s such a harmful stereotype that keeps kids from being friends and appreciating platonic relationships, especially girls. 

Idk, i just know that if i were one of the girls, i’d get really annoyed if every time I was nice to/hung out with a guy people IMMEDIATELY assume we’re a thing/we’re flirting
