to all of my asian anas out there, esp my first gen ones, ik it sucks when ur parents and ur grandparents and aunts and uncles tell u in ur native language that ur eating well and ur eating good and it can be triggering bc we’re trying to be Skinny Legends Who Don’t Eat and now we’re being told that we eat well
and it sucks even more that those same relatives might be putting pressure on u to lose weight
but if they tell u that u eat well, don’t get mad at them. it’s an asian thing. and it makes them happy to see u eat well. it makes them happy to see u enjoy food. it’s the holidays. it’s time to spend time with ur family. even if u all have a rocky relationship, try and put ur issues aside and spend time w ur family. eat well. make ur grandma happy and ur parents proud this holiday season.
fasting and starving and restricting are private things. they are our struggles and u deserve so much better than this and if u ever have the urge to recover
take it and run.
but ik many of u are not ready for that. but don’t break ur grandma’s heart when u eat nothing at dinner. don’t make ur mom sad when u don’t touch the food she worked so hard to make.
i had a shitty relationship with my parents. i still have a rocky one w them. but i lost my aunt recently and i realized that as bad as things can get with ur family, nothing is worse than losing them.
make ur old grandma happy, make ur parents happy, and smile when they tell u ur eating well.
eating is good. u need to eat to live. i bet ur mom’s food is wonderful.
take a bite for me. and let urself enjoy it.
because one day ur mom’s not gonna be there anymore, and neither will ur grandma. and no one’s going to cook that food for u. eat their food enough so that when that day comes, you can taste the memories on your tounge.
