The Art of Disappearing š«„šŖ
I became an expert at fading into the background.
When that someone was in a good mood, the air in the house felt lighter. When he wasnāt? It was better to stay out of sight. No eye contact. No unnecessary words. No mistakes.
So, I learned to disappear. Into my room. Into books. Into silence.
Being noticed meant being questioned. Being questioned meant explaining myself. And explaining myself? That never ended well.
After a while, I wasnāt sure if I was hiding from him⦠or from the version of myself I wasnāt allowed to be.
š Lesson Learned: š Sometimes, disappearing feels easier than standing up for yourself. But the more you shrink yourself, the harder it is to remember who you used to be. š¶āš«ļø
