No you won’t ever be exactly the same again and that’s fine, actually.
I’m assuming you’re talking about the ‘died and came back different’ thing?
No, I’m talking about the mundane horror of existing as a human being.

I think a lot about how we as a culture have turned “forever” into the only acceptable definition of success.
Like… if you open a coffee shop and run it for a while and it makes you happy but then stuff gets too expensive and stressful and you want to do something else so you close it, it’s a “failed” business. If you write a book or two, then decide that you don’t actually want to keep doing that, you’re a “failed” writer. If you marry someone, and that marriage is good for a while, and then stops working and you get divorced, it’s a “failed” marriage.
The only acceptable “win condition” is “you keep doing that thing forever”. A friendship that lasts for a few years but then its time is done and you move on is considered less valuable or not a “real” friendship. A hobby that you do for a while and then are done with is a “phase” - or, alternatively, a “pity” that you don’t do that thing any more. A fandom is “dying” because people have had a lot of fun with it but are now moving on to other things.
I just think that something can be good, and also end, and that thing was still good. And it’s okay to be sad that it ended, too. But the idea that anything that ends is automatically less than this hypothetical eternal state of success… I don’t think that’s doing us any good at all.
"unreliable narrator" to you. i believe them
every time i make a silly joke i start sweating bullets thinking oh no now they'll all think i don't understand themes and narratives
Why is it that when you start eating eggs you also have to suffer a race against time before your brain decides to make eating eggs unbearable
Squid game is so so so good bc its such an accurate portrayal of capitalism. It constantly feeds you the narrative that technically all the players are there due to their own free will and they’re all equal. It also constantly pushes the idea that as long as they work hard and do their best they’ll eventually get rewarded for it. Its fair.
The thing is, they’re NOT there because they want to be, but because they have to. And no, they’re not equal at all. Each one of the games are based entirely on luck. Its almost never your fault when you lose, rather its just the system working against you. And yeah!! In the end yeah sure, you may get rich! You may just make it after all that “hard work” but you DEFINITELY aren’t going to get there without harming someone else in the process.

Meanwhile, in a certainly non-canon, perfect universe,,,
repeat after me:
even if i don’t like my body today i will take care of it
even if i don’t like myself today i will still be patient and kind with myself
even if i do not love myself i will still take care of and be kind to myself, despite not wanting to

To all of us who’re just a mess ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🤎
“humanity is inherently selfish and bad” bbbrrrghuhjfkg. humanity is seeing a stranger’s grocery bag break open on the sidewalk and harvesting fruits and veggies from the branch-like cracks of the asphalt for them, just because you can. humanity is helping a lost child find their mother on a crowded beach, looking for the ladybug-patterned parasol with their hummingbird-small hand in yours. it’s an elder’s fingers wrapped around your arm as you help them up the stairs because the elevator is broken, and feeling like you’re doing exactly what you’re supposed to be doing, like this is what you would’ve been doing had you been alive centuries or even millennia ago. there will always be a heavily pregnant woman who will smile at you when you give up your seat, a nice blind man in the fruit aisle who will ask you to please pick the riper plantain for him, a tired cashier whose face will light up when you compliment their tattoo sleeve. humanity is connection

Me, when I know I have to be up at 8am, but these two won't admit they have feelings for each other in this slow burn, 200k word, Coffee Shop AU fic that I started at 4 am:

What if... we were two ladies meeting at a ball in the older times... and we laughed and danced together until it was midnight and you had to go home.... and when you were getting into your carriage, i accidentally touched your ungloved hands.... and we couldn't help but exchange shy glances...
