This is gonna sound so weird, but does anyone ever have the sudden realization that animals DON’T look like pokémon?
I saw a picture of a pangolin today and was just like….🤨 that’s not a sandshrew. Why does it look like that and not a sandshrew.

Reminder that Dean Winchester heard “the very touch of you corrupts” and “when Castiel first laid a hand on you in hell he was lost” and took it as a personal failure, a sign that he really was a poison to those he loved most
Meanwhile Cas said “I cared about the whole world because of you” and in his final moments (if u believe in the lie that is the finale being canon) forced Dean to reconcile the image he had of himself with the one Cas had of him, realize he saved him from a future of apathy and that having him in his life made Cas better, not worse. That Dean Winchester’s mere existence made an entire immortal being’s life better.
Trying to recommend people watch Yu-gi-oh is always an insane pitching experience because the basic premise, what the show's about, and the actual meat-and-potatoes plot mechanics are all extremely different from one another.
The premise for DM is that some kid has an amnesiac ancient egyptian ghost haunting him and various billionaires are going to try to divest him of his jewellery. What DM is about is platonic devotion, staying true to your friends, the all encompassing power of love, and the eventual burden of moving on from death. This entire thing is painted in the aesthetics of 90's punk and visual kei.
The premise for GX is a kid attends card game high school and goes on wacky adventures. What GX is about is growing up, about seeing the world get more and more dark as you get older until you don't think you are the same person anymore, and having to hold onto the things that make you you. The later seasons draw heavy inspiration from lovecraftian cosmic horror.
The premise for 5Ds is a street punk has to team up with new friends and old enemies to fight on behalf of ancient south american space gods. What 5Ds is about is classism, and tools of oppression in a hi-tech futuristic society that is literally powered by magic. The visual language ping pongs between classic cyberpunk grunge and ultra sleek hypermodern.
The premise for Zexal is a different kid with a different amnesiac ghost that lives inside his necklace team up to find his memories. What Zexal is about is human connection, about reaching out a hand into the dark, about not being alone, and the pointlessness of war. This entire thing is themed with elements of the christian bible.
The premise for Arc-V is a theatre kid who travels the worlds spreading cheer and smiles with his circus performances. What Arc-V is about is child soldiers, and indoctrination into the military industrial complex, and the emotional dissonance that forms between events of trauma and day-to-day survival. One of the characters is inexplicably a traditional japanese shinobi.
The premise for VRAINS is a depressed highschooler cybercrime-ing his way through the internet so he can find answers to why he was kidnapped and tortured when he was 8. What VRAINS is about is the future of corporate greed, about healing, about what makes a consciousness, and the poisoning power of hate. A solid 50% of the story is just really good goofs on modern internet culture.
But if you just throw on a random episode of any one of those, the actual construction of any given one are going to be pretty much the same: It's all Card Games babeeeey
Thinking thoughts about Clark “just be normal” Kent and Lois “be extraordinary” Lane in that lois is in a competitive, misogynistic, eat or be eaten world and needs to yell to even let her voice be heard to survive it while clark is an illegal immigrant who might be white-passing but Knows that the moment someone finds out he’s different, not only will he be treated differently, he’ll actively be feared
+ the fact that both of them (in most universes) choose not to ignore the hate and corruption that fills the world but instead call attention to it using their respective positions in order to change it for the better and spread messages of love and peace when it would be so easy for both of them to keep their heads down

Where yo getting yo hair done at homie
Ran and Shinichi would love calling each other my wife/husband when they finally get married
YEARS of their friends teasing them “oh your husband’s playing soccer rn” “oh your wife was looking for you a second ago” back when they weren’t together and unable to join in with the nicknames caught up to them and now they refuse to call each other anything else
“Hello my darling wife, how was work today?” “Oh there goes my husband again, poking his nose in the police’s business” “Yes beat him up!! That’s my wife!! She’s so— oh, yikes. Pls don’t call the cops on her I promise that was a criminal she just knocked out…”
Bonus points if they do it so often that their friends start getting annoyed and they’re just like ?? You’ve been annoying us for YEARS by calling us married and suddenly we can’t do it back??
Is Joseph Joestar my favorite Jojo or is Caesar Zeppeli simply my favorite character and Joseph just happens to be his extended person
So my friend has been showing me jjba parts 2-5 and we finally decided to go back and watch part 1 before we continue….

The Chronicles of Narnia — Books vs Movies
Ok, no one asked for this, but I just finished reading The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, and I had no one to talk to, so.... (Prefacing this by saying this is all just my opinion!! Please don't come at me! Also, despite how this might read, please know that I truly do love the movies)
First up, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe:
Movie > Book (Is this a hot take?)
The book was really decent, but the movie just expanded on so many of the ideas that the book put down. A throwaway sentence from the book about the war became an extended scene and setup in the movie + really set up how the Pevensies' relationship dynamics worked, from Peter and Susan's responsibility of their younger siblings while also struggling with being children themselves to Edmund's decisions throughout. The emphasis on the siblings' dynamics and relationship was also so lovely in the movie.
The main thing the movie was missing (for me) was 1) Peter's whimsy and 2) the magic that was affecting Edmund. For the second one, I honestly forgive it, because although it villifies Edmund a bit, the book's allegory/suppository is a little on the nose sometimes, so it's kind of nice to have something to analyze without it being spoonfed to you. I don't forgive Peter's whimsy being erased, though; he's so funny to me in the books lol
Next, Prince Caspian:
Book > Movie
The movie makes it so that everything that happened in the first movie is just repeated in a different font. Also, the way they set up all the conflicts and Caspian's introduction was just bland in comparison. I love how in the books, Peter wasn't affected by Caspian's presence, because obviously the man who has been king for YEARS wouldn't be badly affected by someone new, especially when he knows he won't be in Narnia for long. Peter knows he's high king, king of all kings of Narnia. Of course he wouldn't be jealous. I just think the movie mischaracterized him badly. Also, I love how in the book, Caspian has time to be settled in with the Narnians and is already essentially leading them before the Pevensies arrive. The movie honestly didn't give him enough credit and just thrust him into it. He's already a leader, he just needed help getting his position back.
All that said, I really do love how Caspian's single throwaway line of 'Señor' in the book was taken and ran with in the movie to truly make an allegory to the conquistadors. I'm sure that's what the book was trying to do, too, but it was far more clear in the movie.
Lastly, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader:
Book > Movie (??)
Okay, this one I have mixed feelings about. I think the movie got rid of all the things I didn't like about the book, but I also didn't like the random quest that doesn't exist in the book (the whole swords thing instead of the search for Caspian's father's advisors which was already set up in the previous book) + Edmund and Caspian's conflict that the movie introduces. In the book, the whole gold pond/lake(?) scene is meant to be an allegory for man's greed, whereas in the movie it lowkey made both of them just seem a bit petty, idk. One thing I don't like about the book that I'm glad the movie got rid of, though, is the commentary on progressivism. While for the most part I was ambivalent to it, there's one part of the book that Eustace makes a comment about the misogyny Lucy lowkey faces on board the Dawn Treader, and since the message of the book is meant to look down on Eustace's progressivism, it truly just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. All in all, though, the book's setup of events was better than the movie. Though I rlly loved Eustace's relationships with everyone in the movie, specifically with Reepicheep, and how it was showed, more than in the book.
I think the hottest take I have is that the first movie is better than all of the books and movies LOL (between those three specifically/not including the books that didn't have movies made)
Ilya Rozanov strikes me as the kinda guy who watched and loved Naruto as a kid and then rewatched it as an adult and suddenly unlocked the true meaning of life
Jack’s first parent-teacher conference, he takes Sam and Dean
The teacher starts saying how incredibly kind Jack is, what a wonderful student he is. It’s only when they’re saying their goodbyes and are getting called Mr and Mr Winchester that Sam realizes they made a grave mistake. Like oh! No! We’re brothers 😅
Teacher is SO embarrassed. Jack’s always gushing about his dads, so it was truly an honest mistake
To avoid this, next time, Jack takes Cas and Sam. Dean’s busy, anyway. Different teacher, but she has notes on Sam from the previous teacher. ‘Mr. Winchester, it’s so nice to meet you. And this must be your partner, Mr…?’
Sam is So Flustered but also thinks this is hilarious. Cas is so confused until he gets it. They quickly correct her once they stop laughing.
Next year, it’s Cas and Dean’s turn. Sam is already mentally prepared for what’s about to happen. He’s so ready to laugh at Dean’s face when he gets home.
Turns out the joke was on him when the two come home holding hands. Cas is just like, ‘Explaining our relationship last time was too embarrassing. I thought it was easier to just agree that we were husbands.’
Sam: ‘And you’re still holding hands because…?’
Dean’s face is SO red. Sam truly does have the last laugh
“Castiel was nerfed” this, “Castiel was nerfed” that. Can we talk about the beauty of Castiel, angel of the lord, leader of a garrison of angels, a being who only knew how to be a soldier and experience war, CHOOSE to use his powers mainly for healing??
s15e06 is so important to me. When his grace was nearly depleted and quite literally flickering, he chose to heal that boy even when it wasn’t a fatal injury. He continuously chooses to use his grace for matters more meaningful to him than battle and I truly wish more people acknowledged the beauty in that 😔
New social media, who dis?
