anybody else with c/ptsd get selective mutism when faced with triggers/stress?

I either: talk in short simple sentences, speak really quietly, say a phrase/word repeatedly (usually “I don’t know”), or don’t talk at all

usually when people are mad/annoyed/disappointed at me, and/or raise their voice

I also typically avoid eye/physical contact, especially initiating it, in these situations

This is a physical symptom to being triggered and is normal. It’s a defense mechanism self taught by the brain which creates a barrier between your body and possible damage, let’s say your saying something resulted in violence in the past, well now when that happens you shut down in order to not be target of any more violence.

i noticed that alot of LBGT kids feel like they have to tell their friends and family that theyre LBGT. even if theyll be rejected

and i want to remind u all that nobody is entitled to knowing your romantic, sexual or gender orientations. nobody. you have no moral obligation to share that information if youre not comfortable with doing so

youre not “lying” by not telling people or “hiding”. cause its honestly no ones business but your own

you come out on your own terms when you feel safe and comfortable doing so!! or you can come out to a few trusted people if you want before telling a larger group

dont feel like you owe that information to anyone ok??
