Politics and Art
We are at a very particular point in time where the advent of AI is pushing a brand new wave a visuals catering to fascism, and at the same time the only answer for artists is to make art political again, as a form of counter push against this new wave of propaganda subjugating artistic processes. What I am worried about is how the system is organized, or should I say, means of proliferation for art are now mostly in the hands of people that are not in line with artists ideals. How do we face that threat, how do we organize on this new digital layer that is heavily controlled and tailored to divide us.
Hey there!
First off, I know that creating yet another page is part of a larger problem of the information age, but I do so knowingly and for a very precise reason, I want to meet and talk with people who are interested in post-photography specifically! I am a professional artist that is going back to school, doing an MFA in research and creation. I do not have a BFA and am self-taught, but there is a FIRE in me when it comes to creation. I love to rethink my relationship with photography. I am mostly interested in personal mythologies as vessels to implement IFS in mental health care, and so I've always approached photography as a means to fiction, and I feel like it is a core current issue socially with how we perceived photographs and how they are weaponized. Anyway, hoping to meet nice people here to discuss this !
