A message from the mods:

We are sorry to announce that this year’s fest has been cancelled. Due to the excessive amount of dropouts and ghosting, the posting date for fics has been cancelled, and we will be going on a hiatus for the next year. This fest is and was very special to us, and we know for some of you it was too. We thank you for all the efforts you put into your fics, for all the research you had to do and all the planning it took. We’ve taken that into consideration when making this sad decision.

For those who have fics ready: you are more than welcome to post them at anytime. We would still love to reblog and share your fics if you would like to tag us, but you don’t have to.

We will continue to keep this account, and the Twitter account active, so that fics from the past year may be accessed.

Thank you to everyone who ever supported this fest. We are so glad that, for a short time, we were able to share our love of historical fics within the fandom.

You’ll upload it to AO3, and add it to our fest collection! The collection hasn’t been created just yet, the closer we get to the end we’ll post it for anyone who’s already finished with their fic!

"Bad writing" is important too. Even if your writing isn't where you want it to be, it is valid and it has a lot of worth. Bad writing is better than no writing, and it paves the way for better writing.

Even if you think your writing is bad, it has a lot of value and meaning! It's not wasted effort and it's still something you painstakingly created. Writing badly isn't a negative thing; it's a good thing and there is nothing to be ashamed of.

Believe it or not, your writing doesn’t always have to be good. Especially if you’re doing it for fun. One thing I’ve learned that’s become precious to me is: You’re allowed to free yourself from the chains of “everything I write has to be good.” No it doesn’t! You can write things just because! You can write down your random thoughts in the middle of the day that don’t make any sense; you can start that poem with no plan and see where your instinct takes you; you can write that story or that fic just because you need to get it out of your system. Who cares! Besides, you can always go back and revise it later! All art begins somewhere. You don’t always have to worry about being “good.” Just make it. Just let it exist. Just be.

Hiya, I’m interested in writing for the fest, but I don’t have a beta. Can you help me find one? X

Hello! I know of a Tumblr that has a list of betas @betabase , however they haven’t been active since 2021. I don’t think it would hurt to look at the list of betas though!

Otherwise, that’s the only option of finding a beta I’m aware of, other than asking publicly (which I tend to do on Twitter)

If anyone is willing to help or knows of some other resources, please feel free to reblog/respond!
