If you read one thing today, let it be this article written by Valtteri.

He talks about his career but also, candidly discusses his eating disorder. Some people might not know about it since I feel he doesn't get the same amount of attention as other drivers, but he's touched on it in the past - and has been shot down by people like DC, trying to minimise it - but I think this is the first time I'm seeing him be so open in such a way. The photo accompanying that section is sobering. In a sport where unsavoury things are glossed over, it's extremely brave for him to talk about it so frankly.

He also talks about mental health, touches on obsession, his rivalry with Lewis, and depression. He ends with where he's at today, which we all can see is a much happier and healthier Valtteri, and I'm so glad that he is.

it is so nauseating seeing max fans use lewis's interactions with the media to try to back up max. as if lewis asking photographers to give him some space is in any way comparable to kicking a journalist out of a room. as if deciding to leave a situation that makes you uncomfortable is in any way comparable to staging boycotts because someone holds a different opinion to you. and it's so calculating and sinister because it is ✨ always ✨ lewis they drag into these conversations, no matter how far removed he is from the situation they will still find some way to twist the narrative into: hey! look what LEWIS has done!! in a way that you sense is both an attempt to make max's actions seem more palatable and an attempt to give the public a different punching bag whilst max escapes out the back. i am tired

i admire valtteri so much. he went from this very shy, quiet person with basically no friends in the paddock who was struggling with an eating disorder and a divorce and basically just radiating depression to this beacon of joy and positivity. it’s really really difficult to do that and he did it all by himself. there was really no one looking out for him for a long time and then he made one friend in the paddock (paul ripke bless that men forever) and got a girlfriend he loves very deeply (we love tiffany cromwell too) and decided screw it, I’M going to be the person that i needed when i was having a hard time. and he befriended notoriously unapproachable lewis and took zhou under his wing when he was clearly struggling and he was a helpful to kimi in his rookie season and buried the hatchet with george. this man has worked SO hard on himself and even more than that he’s extending his hand to others.
