I usually like things better when I turn them grayscale, if I'm being honest. But I need to practice color sometimes, and once a chapter is certainly a long enough break.

Mtg token comissino I drew for a friend of mine! He basically said I could do anything I wanted so long as it was a dragon and so long as it was red.

It ended up...Very red. I gotta say, every time I do a full color illustration it's very humbling. I get reminded that even though I have a vision, if I don't practice color theory I CAN'T BLOODY DO COLOR THEORY!

But my friend liked it a lot, and I like it fine, it's just not what I imagined.

I drew the whale sharks with only my left hand. Terrible experience. Would not recommend.

I redrew Haashi and Nartha's wedding picture!

I gotta say, two and a half years has done wonders for my art. I've also thought a lot more about wedding ceremonies so below is a long shpiel about that.

They don't have rings to exchange. Instead, before the ceremony the bride is wearing a flower crown, and once they are declared husband and wife she will put it on the groom's head and he'll wear it for the rest of the day. Another detail is that wedding dresses are generally designed short or slitted to show the woman's knees, because previous to marriage she would have kept them covered. The wedding takes place with the bride and groom standing inside a circle of some sort to represent eternity and purity. I wasn't sure about them wearing white because in this world because white is associated with death, but it still represents undyed, unaltered, sincerity so I decided to leave it. (also I wanted to still match the og picture) The embroidery on Haashi's shoulders means: love forever; and the embroidery on Nartha's shoulders means: powerful promise. Yes, Nartha is standing on her toes and still only comes up to Haashi's nose. Yes, Haashi wore shorts and flip flops to his wedding. Generally they would both be barefoot but this was as close as Kona could get him. Yes, Haashi broke into tears in front of Nartha's whole family, but as a special favor to their beloved daughter/sister they didn't rib him about it for a whole week.

Someone reminded me how long it's been since I thought about little Haashi and Rado.

So, backstory for them:

Sen worked at a clinic when Baii first saw her (yes from a hospital bed). Baii was instantly in love and took every opportunity to see her after that. Even if it meant getting hurt so he'd have an excuse.

Sen did NOT like him, and eventually gave him a stern talking (shouting) to and told him to stop it. Baii got the picture that she didn't like being flirted with and didn't like stitching him up every few days either. He stayed away for a bit but he missed her so he began to volunteer at the clinic instead.

Sen was horrified at this, but they needed the extra hands so she let him in with one strict rule. He couldn't come in to work drunk. This was...a very difficult rule for Baii to follow, but slowly and painfully he began to keep himself clean.

Sen still didn't like him and made sure he saw all the horrors of being a physician, hoping he might be scared off. But as the months passed and he still kept coming back Sen began to warm up to him. To enjoy his company. Even laugh with him.
