I sit here by myself for awhile, Looking at the broken pieces of my heart in a pile, People wonder why I have a broken smile, It feels like the pain will never recede every once in a while At times i wish i was dead, I can see visions of red, I looked at my wrists as they bled, Tears I never did shed My dreams had been shattered, On the floor was the pieces of my heart scattered, On paper that was tattered, It said my broken heart and broken smile didn't matter

She had hair of raven, Her jeans were faded, The night she was taken, She woke up at the safe haven Her name was Blaire, She knew her mother did care, It must have gave her a scare, She was happy to know she was near Her mother said a little prayer, Then she hugged her, Said now you're secure, Nothing more to fear

The boy she met was really sweet, He lived down her street, She sat in the backseat, She listened to the rock beat, Out the window she hung her feet They were wed in the month of May, It happened in the San Francisco Bay, He told her he would never stray, Nobody would ever take him away She looked towards the midnight sky, Who'd have known how fast the years would fly by, It was a warm night in July, She had to tell him goodbye

Listen to the birds, Can't you hear them sing? Listen for the bells, Can't you hear them ring? Listen to the children, Laughing as they swing Listen to the coyote, Howling in the night, Listen to the waves, Crashing out of sight, Listen to the waterfall, Roar with all its might All the sounds of mankind, Can you see it in your mind? Don't ever leave it all behind, That's the key to peace of mind
