Let’s talk about how important that small interaction between Raphael and Maia is. He was going to make a choice on behalf of vampires and downworlders, and he didn’t decide off the bat what he’ll do, he looked at her, a fellow downworlder that isn’t personally connected to Clary, he looked at her as a pair to make that decision because at the end she’s being affected like he is, her family is being affected like his is and that’s beautiful to show more unity between downworlders!

when someone points out that people who don’t know about asexuality (and that’s a lot of people or they have this misinformed idea about it) WONT EVEN KNOW RAPHAEL CAME OUT AS ACE.

I finally know why it didn’t feel like a coming out scene and having him say he’s asexual wouldn’t have been that hard if the writers actually gave a damn about it. at this point it feels like they’re just trying to get brownie points.

WE know this was supposed to be him come out as ace but the fact still remains that unless you know about it beforehand or are involved in the fandom you won’t know that that’s what happened.

saying you’re “not interested in sex” in two sentences is barely even a coming out. of course, people who are ace and/or have already read about asexuality enough, and maybe even know what CC tweeted about Raphael, will recognise it. but casual viewers who don’t know about asexuality really won’t.
